    MotuC Custom Alcala Powersword

    Hey,

with the release of Demo-Man and the Alcala Skeletor head I asked myself what an Alcala Skeletor was missing to give him a further special touch. So I came up with the idea to do a Powersword in the style of the first mini comic drawn by Alfredo Alcala. To go the whole way I made a halfsword of it, too. But the halfes do not connect.

It is modeled in 3d max and printed by shapeways.com.

Now take a look and tell me what you think

I start with a little Photoshop mock up because my Demo-Man has not arrived yet .

What do you mean by it is "modeled in 3D and printed?" That does not make any sense to me. How can you mode something on a computer and then have it create an actual toy?
Can someone PM me the US number for Matty? I want to talk to someone who might has a clue of what is going on.

You can upload your 3D designs to Shapeways, and THEY make it for you.

They have a 3D printer kinda like the one used in the movie 'Jurassic Park 3' to make the 'raptor nasal cavity. It 'prints' 3 dimensional products in layers to create the final piece from certain types of hardstock. I may order this thing in stainless steel to see how nice it turns out.....just need to stash the cash for it.

That thing is ridiculously precise in it's accuracy to the artwork. It's exactly the same. That's impressive work and my mind is having trouble coping with this wizardry.

Evil Mike all of your weapons are amazing!
What material do you recommend having them printed with?
    The "white,strong,flexible" OR "white,strong,flexible Polished"?
What type of paint are you using (testers/acrylic)? I'm wondering how well the "polished" version holds paint. Are the weapons in your sword line up pic unpolished?
    Thanks for the info!
I'm going to have to pick a few of these up!

So $15 for the sword to be made? Does that include shipping? How durable are they?

I can highly recommend the "white, strong, flexible Polished". Since this is available I'mk taking nothing else that that material . I am using acrylic paint from Gamesworkshop. It sticks very good to the polished material. Yes, the weapons in the line up are all printed in the "polished" material.

The material ist quite durable. You can bend it but it does not deform. For the shipping costs to your location you should check the shapeways site .

Forget the Filmation sword... THIS is the POWER SWORD!
IMO, Alcala had it best for sure. Beautiful work!

Love these! My Alcala shelf is dying for them.

But would it be possible to make the both halves as "one item" to purchase in your store? I'm thinking there would be less waste material and therefore cheaper to get the two halves at once instead of purchasing two separately.

So it's done . I have uploaded two halfwords as one item and it is indeed cheaper

Do you have any plans on making these two halves combine? Also, could you explain the differences between the "Sword of Glory" and the 2.0 version?

Finally, would you consider making a Filmation Skeletor styled sword?

Sorry, but I won't make combining versions of the halfsword. I think I could give the Filmation Skeletor sword a try and see how cool it will look in 3D

Yeah, I remembered the Filmation Skeletor sword after I looked at your "King's Axe." The Filmation artwork does have some discrepancies(The hilt changes length between frames) but I always thought the idea of Skeletors sword reflecting the look of his chest armor was cool. To my knowledge, it was only used in "The Dragon's Gift" episode which is where these screen captures are from.

That said, can you please explain the difference between the 2.0 Sword of Glory and the 1.0 version? Is it because the material is different or is it an improved sculpt?
