I have ONE more set of Star Sisters coming. When they arrive, I will pick the "worst condition" ones to customize. I'm really scared I'm going to end up ruining them though.
Why don't you guys commision one of the outstanding customizers to make customs in "toy colors"?

Oh, I'm definitely thinking in tones of purple and silver. It's just which kind of purple(s) and which kind of silver, and where I want them to go. I want to achieve balance, Tallstar-san. Starla should be spunky one, Jewelstar's the ethereal one, and Tallstar's the one you don't want to make angry.

Tallstar made his own and I'm fairly poor.

Holy cow! You have a lot. When/if all my stuff arrives I might have 5 Tallstar extension sets.

Well...the only way to actually make her tall (like her 80's action feature) is to buy 3-4 Star Sister sets. So, it would be really nice if Mattel included a full extension set in a Weapons Pak. It's much cheaper to buy a few Weapons Paks than a few Star Sisters sets.
Take part in Illumina Day! Let people know who she is and help get her in MOTUC.

I posted my revamped Starla about a week ago, now it's Jewelstar's turn. And no, I didn't go with toy colors, but I'm sure you can hazard a guess what movie I got my inspiration from:

I like her a lot better now.

...I got the Sisters last week as party of a pretty good deal to get Shadow-Weaver & the Preternia map, and was actually pleasantly surprised by how nice they look! Starla's my fave, she looks like a typical female "mage" type-character, and Jewelstar looks good too! Only Tallstar looks a bit odd to me, and I guess that's just the odd color combination... But the extensions-aspect makes her pretty neat! I imagine Extendar will work they same way, when they get to him!

Forgot to mention I finally got my Star Sisters a couple weeks ago. Yay! My family looked at me a bit funny when they caught sight of my lovely pink dollies, but ah well.

I just got the three sisters yesterday. In truth, I was very dissappointed with the set. Of the three, only Starla really looked like a classic POP figure to me. The "granny panties" on the other two really stand out in a bad way. I also don't like the paint applications on Jewelstar and Tallstar, and I hope that if they ever release these figures individually, that they give these two different paintjobs (Tallstar should have a silver chest, imho). The crystals on Jewelstar's crown look like the are growing out of her head, when it should look like she is wearing a headdress.

I hope they decide to release some "Fantastic Fashions" down the road, as skirts might help give these two a more streamlined look.

Ugh Now that I have Tallstar in hand I really wish she had the toy colours like Tallstars custom. (And Jewelstar could have been less pink...)

So i decided to take a stab at making a more toy accurate Tallstar. Trying to only use things i already had on hand. Its amazing what just painting the orange pink does to the look of the figure.
The only thing i had to get was the fabric for the pants. They are really easy to make. The first pic unstretched and the second is stretched.

The pants were REALLY easy. If any one is interested I can post a how to in the customs forums.
But we mustn't dwell. No, not today. We Can't! Not on Rex Manning Day!

Any suggestions on how fix JewelStar's pony tail before it falls off? it seems to be held on my a little soft rubber and the grace of jeebus right now, and I am worried that if I pose her against a shelf wall or another character it could come clean off....

Mine Star Sisters arrived today, finally. After a handful of e-mails and 2 phone calls, they arrived and I'm from Los Angeles! They are great figures even though at first I had them as "a pass"

Cool to see the customs, tweaks and fixes on the trio here. Great job guys!

This is a really old thread, but hey, I just got my MIP Star Sisters from a guy on Ebay. I like Starla, who seems a little tomboyish and makes a great She-ra hanger-on in the absence of Glimmer. And Tallstar, with her spacy sci-fi outfit (I gave her BG Teela's laser pistol) and beautiful mature face. But Jewelstar, something is just off. I thought about using her body for BP She-Ra's head, but the little crystals on her back get in the way of She-Ra's hair. I really like the customs I've seen here, especially the purple wash on the crystals and the pearl look. So she does have the potential to be cool.

To you customizers, is there a safe way to take the headdress off of Jewelstar? I'm thinking about painting her face like a geisha.

As far as i know Jewelstars head is made out of the translucent plastic and there for is one peace with her tiara and her hair also, so her tiara could be shiny. I donīt know that for sure but i heard that. I guess you simply must be careful but the idea is nice, i would like to see your geishan Jewelstar!

The key to taking the head piece off would be to heat it up. You can do it either by dipping it in just boiled water or using a hair dryer to soften it and then gently work it off.

Since you bumped the thread I will go a head and post a pick of my newly repainted Jewelstar!

I wanted to make her mostly red but not completely or she would suffer from the same aesthetic issue as before. So I painted her Tunic and boots and then connected them with with the red down the arms, legs and neck a la Illyria from Angel.

    That is a great job!
Its is spelled "Crita", not "Critta". Misspell her name and Crita will knock the "T" out of you!

    Also...get her into the line!
