Yes I would love to hear how you did this as well

If I hadn't just bought a full set I would have been tempted by your marketplace post

Just want to say that, while I'm not really feeling the 3-pack, I'm really happy POP fans got this.
There's enough love in MOTUC for everyone to get a taste of what they want now and then. And maybe eventually farther down the road, we'll get toy colors.

Sorry, I'm back. I drove to Val's to thank him and give him the massage he's been asking for.

He-Bro: Great job on the Tallstar legs, but as soon as I saw "dremel new holes" in your post on the customs forum I immediately knew not to attempt this.

bcrduke: Those shots are kind of like Dan's "It's comparison time!" *thumbs up* for posting them. I wish darth hordak was still around to make me a set of these gals. I tried a Tallstar once, got her partially finished, but it became an abandoned project.

Dark Sorceress: So far as I can tell, they look really good, my friend.

Here ya go…they look better. Part of the issue is the loooooong pelvis piece that these figures have.

I have them. Can't say I like them. Probably the worst figures I own alongside Captain Glenn - never liked that figure.

Even though they are undeniably great sculpts for what they are and are supposed to be, I can only hope future PoP figures will look more along the lines of She-Ra, Bow, and Catra and not this bubble-gum, little-girl aesthetic.

Those are not customs (technically they are since the originals do not exist) if I remember right, there was an org user in Mexico a few users ago who made them based on the prototypes he acquired, the staffs are reproductions from the originals. My wife has a set on her shelf as do some other orgers

I got my set last night. I'm really enjoying the set but I HATE the limited articulation in the legs. They really need the original female hips and the cut joint at the boot tops.

Oh, wow! I thought nobody knew what happened to the Star Sister prototypes?! That's pretty interesting. I thought the staffs looked too good to be "fan sculpted" though. I like them better than the MOTUC ones.

markatisu: Are you positive darth hordak had original prototypes? I know he made some pretty impressive Star Sisters customs, but I don't recall anything about him actually modeling them off originals.

As others have dutifully pointed out, Only Glory Bird is my full custom.

Curses, Jim, you foiled my plans to take credit for someone else's work.

The Star Sisters were purchased from an old org member (Darth Hordak). I had paid for them, but I guess he had had some sort of troubles because it was almost a year before he sent them, and when they did arrive, all of them were broken.

I had to resculpt Jewelstar's rear end. I also had to create new expandable pieces for Tallstar's legs and one arm because they had all broken in transit.

I also repainted both Tallstar and Jewelstar using glitter, some star decals, and better paint (the original paint had chipped off or was not right on parts).

Darth Hordak obviously had had some troubles. I am glad I have them but it was a difficult transaction.

I would never take credit for making them completely. I certainly hope my watchful friends here weren't assuming that. I've posted pics of them before and given credit where it was due. (my own 100% customs are in my profile's album).

That was the point . It was an homage to Dan's line. That's why I wrote "It's comparison time!" in quotes

They are made from other POP base figures and designed after the prototype pics.

I don't think he made them based on prototypes. He never mentioned having them, and the style in which he made them changed slightly with each set. The only thing he might have had and used in that way was a staff.

The stalves are really gummy and soft. And a lot of the detail is limited because, I'm assuming, the mold was probably reused a lot. They are made of a glitter-filled softer plastic.

Honestly, I never even thought you were trying to do that! (Why would I, when I remember you posting in an old thread on the She-Ra forum about him having customized them.. I think I may have even referenced you in the Star Sisters research thread under the "Star Sisters in Art and Customs" section. ) I didn't bring up darth hordak's name to clarify to the group. *cross my heart*

Oh, oops. I didn't see that line scrunched between the two shots. I missed it scrolling down.

You're welcome! I hope it helps with anyone wanting to do it. It was pretty easy. Only a very small amount of glue was needed (I used Gorilla Glue super glue).

I know he had at least the staff, I am guessing the dolls were made just by eyeing the picture but the staffs I am pretty sure I remember him saying he acquired and just reproduced. Some were made with hot glue, others with plastic based on the ones different orgers got.

If only we have a MOTUC Spinerella, I could recreate the Bubble Carriage ad (using the reproduction of the prototype Bubble Carriage that was sold a few years back) since we now have Starla and BP She-Ra

My sub Star Sisters arrived yesterday. I like them a lot more than I thought I would. The pelvis piece is a bit annoying on Tallstar, but I do like them officially. I'm glad they were released.

Too funny. You can also use Tallstar's head to make a Mystery Gal from the other Bubble Carriage ad.
