Yeah I got destroyed when I tried to sell these last year. I think I was able to get 40% of what I paid for them.

I instantly had a vision of Ash from Alien when I read that. Rather than fearing the Starbeast, it's the star sisters that fill us with dread lol.

They were the sole reason I didn't sub that year. I paid $70 shipped for SW and a few bucks over for the vintage for that year so I think not subbing was a better choice. They were just awful.

    Why are they "awful?"

It's fine if you don't care for them, but that doesn't make them awful.

It's always 5 or 6 people complaining about the Star Sisters.

They aren't the item up on Gilt.com or showing up in Walmart.

Characters like Man-E-Faces and Roboto are in that lot.

It's a fun set. They would have been a lot cooler in vintage toy/proto colors but they are what they are: stereo space-agey.
A Want List of Sorts: Eldor, Sweet Bee, Arrow, Spinnerella, NA She-Ra, Mermista, Gwildor, Hover-Bots, Tung Lasher, Angella, Ninjor, Huntara, Oo-Larr, Lizard Man, Sssqueeze, Peekablue... and all the other POP & NA characters.

Sorry Duke but they're awful as far that nobody wanted them and they were ***forced*** on the general populace. They are peg warmers extraordinaire!

And there are only like 3 or 4 people championing them. What's funny about those figures on Gilt and at Walmart they sold out relatively fast, and if those places wanted to sell them at retail they could have, they got a deal on them so they still profited after the discounted prices they had on them. Where as the Star Sisters on BBTS have been there forever have been discounted for many months and BBTS loses over $20.00 a set. There isn't a less desirable figure in the line than these 3 figures, Mo-Larr sells for more, Spector and Sir Laser Lot consistently sell for at least retail if not a few dollars more. Granted they are a 3 pack but even sold as singles they are a tough sell.

A lot of people DO complain about the Star Sisters. There are fans who can't sell the Star Sisters for a good price, fans who generally hate POP regardless, POP fans who have no nostalgia for the Sisters since they never came out in the 80's or fans who simply don't like their designs.

I agree that it's a fun set. I like how the Star Sisters complement Frosta, Netossa, and the other members of the Great Rebellion in my display.

I really love the Star Sisters to! 3 awesome figures!! Tallstar is one of my favorite figures in MotuC. She got one of the best faces and hair!! The only bad thing are the terrible crotch pieces but overall the figures are fantastic!!

And the fact that you like them doesn't make them "good." It works both ways.

People thought they were "bad" for many reasons including: not having the vintage prototype decos, production decos not matching the prototypes, the "granny panties" on Tallstar, the lack of accessories including extra "extension" parts for Tallstar, the lack of boot cuts on the legs...that's more than enough reasons for anyone to say they are "awful."

It's actually the other way around. It's always the same 5 or 6 mega-POP fans who keep defending them.

The fact that those few fans keep defending doesn't and isn't going to change the overwhelmingly vast majority's opinion of them. They don't like them and never will.

They were one shot cartoon characters who had less than 4 lines total of script in that one episode and didn't even contribute anything to the episode. They were basically just Bow's groupies when he's showing off the wand he stole. Heck, all of the Filmation Sub figures had bigger roles in the MOTU mythos than them. Icer Batros, and Shotoki all had bigger parts in their episodes.

The SS had prototypes made but they were never released and were in the comic, once. You can't really expect people to "want" and "like" characters that most didn't even know existed. I hear the same kind of complaints about characters like Vikor and Vykron who some fans have no nostalgia for.

I agree that the toy colors would have been a better choice for their deco but even that more than likely wouldn't change the fact that hardly anybody wanted them.

They have great facial sculpts, but their paint jobs are horribly bland. Also, I never got them as 'fan demanded', it was more like Mattel finishing old 80s business.

They also don't have any history outside of being in a She-Ra episode, so I never know where to put them with my other figures. They are pretty much part of the Z-List MOTUC characters:

    Sy-Klone
    Stratos
    Star Sisters
    Vykron
    Chief Carnivus
    Count Marzo
    Faceless One

I really don't understand why some fans complain or even, hate Star Sisters ???

I remember SS (and even FFM) were always remembered in wish lists here...when the three girls were released, a lot of people hated them...

They were never produced in vintage POP toy line and I am sure they enrich our MOTUC collections...

Actually, it's the same 12 of you. The majority of us just took them into our collections and didn't waste time & energy railing against or defending them.

Just cause it's so easy to do when there are no facts one way or the other (I just did it in this very post!!). The cold, darkness of being online feels so much warmer when you think the majority agrees with you.

You know I wasnt speaking for everyone. Its an exaggeration.

I will say that the fact their inclusion on the sub last year started this downward spiral speaks for itself.

I bought them for $15 from a seller in the Marketplace that was just desperate to get rid of them. For that price I was glad to add them to my collection.

Not really. Fisto was included in last year's sub. Maybe he was the downfall of the line.

I think the Star Sisters are very interesting. Is there a thread for Star Sisters fans where the figures / characters can be discussed without being interrupted by constant negative posts?
