I might be going this year depending on if I can get tickets to Comic-Con. With a near $500 flight to LAX and $250 for a hotel I just can't afford to do both.
I was like "what is this guy talking about?" until I did a search! I fly out of Columbus from time to time, but yikes! What happened? Flights were around 350.00 for the longest time. Now they are pushing 500.00 That stinks. I hope they come down closer to summer. They usually do anyway.
I wonder if the recent spike in gas prices is affecting airline fuel also. Airfare from Columbus to San Diego for Comic-Con is up to $500-700 when I checked today and tickets haven't even gone on sale for that yet. Just a couple years ago I flew to Italy round trip for $650. Hopefully these prices come down soon.

Yes the two are intertwined, the higher gas goes for us in our cars it will go up much higher for airfare and shipping. It has always been that way
But since Power-Con is in the fall a lot of airlines lower their prices since its not the Spring or Summer which are peak fare times and its not the holidays (Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years)

On one of the past RGD's, you made comment that seating for guests at panels may be an issue given how many fans you're expecting this year; any update on the hotel giving up any bigger spaces for the Con? Standing room only? Will the hotel let the ORG set up some cameras and run feed to some monitors out in the lobby? It'll always be a case of first come first serve. I think it'll be okay, though. But, don't take my word on it. If there is a panel you really want to see, you'll want to get in line.
We also clear the room between panels depending on the line waiting for the next panel. So keep that in mind as well.
