I was just there this morning; there's one about 3 mins from my house.

May I recommend a 4x4, animal style, with a neapolitan shake. Animal style is consists of grilled onions, mustard within the meat and pickles; it's amazing and can also be added to their fries.

    Hey all.

Does anyone know if there is an official e-mail contact for potential exhibitors? I looked all over the Power-con site and couldn't find one.

I wanted to asked specifically for some clarification on rules for artists - specifically if doing sketches of MOTU characters and selling prints of your own MOTU artwork was allowed. This would seem to be banned under the 'General Rules and Regulations/Permitted Sales' section.

Hello everyone, i'm wondering if you could give me your advice? Is it worth spending the extra $70 on the Power Pass? I'm tempted to get it simply because I assume it must be worth it!

Did those who got this last year not regret it?

Also, I'm (hopefully) coming along with my girlfriend, who, is really only coming because I've told her too And because I've promised we'll fly to Vegas for a few days after the con before coming home.

Should I just get here the $30 2 day badge? Or are there advantages to me also getting her the $100 badge, as she might just disappear to the bar when I'm going to panels and queuing and so forth!

    Any advice appreciated.

    Dorrmann,

There is a brand new In-N-Out Burger 1.13 miles from the Marriott. If you walk out onto Hawthorne Blvd and turn right, it's a few blocks up the road on the right. I live exactly in between the Marriott and In-N-Out mile-wise. I can see the Marriott towering in the distance from my garage. I'll be walking to Power-Con.

Torrance has a lot to offer. There is a lot of restaurants within walking distance and a lot more within a few minutes drive on Hawthorne. Hawthorne Blvd is quite the hub for eating and shopping. If anyone has any questions about the immediate area (that Cherry_Picker didn't answer) message me and I'll be happy to answer or look into something, if I don't know.

Per the rules of the convention, the official stance is unlicensed prints are not endorsed or recommended by the convention. All vendors need to sign that hold-harmless exhibitor agreement if they are going to be at the show.

I seriously doubt anyone will get after an artist for doing original sketches/commissions at the show. Prints, though, I can't comment on. Any artist who does them does them at their own risk.

I obviously can't tell you if it's worth it. Only the others here can.

But I will say that we expect a lot more people this year, and there are half as many Power Passes as last year.

As a fan, it's most definitely worth the extra money. If nothing else, it's worth it to get priority seating in the panels. The badge gets you in a separate line of only badge holders who get let in first. I don't know about this year, but last year, they also came with a goodie bag filled with magazines, prints, CD's, pins, stickers, and more!

As for the wife, that's a different story. Unless a potential goodie bag (nothing's been announced yet, I don't think) is worth it, then getting her the standard admission might be a good idea.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! Since you're so close, that means we get to all come over to your house for an after party, right?

Only if there are Dinner passes left, but both the Power Pass and Dinner Packages are selling quickly.

Yes its worth it. Unless you're the first in line and someone who just bought a day pass comes in and has no respect for the people that have been waiting for twenty minutes to meet with Ericka. Yes, that did happen. I was first in line for the PoP special guests and someone decided to just walk right on up. However I thought all in all it was worth it.

I didn't have any issues not having the Power Pass last year... that being said with less PP's and more attendees I think it's a good investment if you're interested in the panels. And last year going to the panels was a blast. I decided last year I was going to invest in the Power Pass just to support the con if for no other reason. I'd like to upgrade to an RGD pass but the government has decided I need to finally start repaying my student aid loans! Sigh. Well, it had to happen eventually, I suppose.

It's very true. But to be fair, they have been fairly nice about letting me put it off. I've just been paying interest. Time to man up I suppose. Sigh.

Rudy Obrero and Lynne Lipton kick off the 2012 Guest List!

Power-Con / ThunderCon is kicking off our 2012 guest list with the attendance of Rudy Obrero and Lynne Lipton!

    RUDY OBRERO

You will recognize the legendary Masters of the Universe illustrator Rudy Obrero from such works as the original box art featured on the Battle Cat packaging. Obrero has even returned to work on Masters of the Universe Classics, providing the box art to the new Wind Raider and the maps that come with the MOTUC subscriptions.

Mr. Obrero’s versatility is evident in the full spectrum of work he does for his broad range of clients. He is the style guide artist for E.T., Woody Woodpecker, Peter Pan, The Scorpion King, The Mummy Returns, Universal Monsters, Curious George, Sitting Ducks and The Power Rangers. Rudy’s art has even expanded to other countries as he has done art for businesses in Japan, and England. He designed the exclusive Liberian Millennium Silver Dollar coin. His recent projects have included posters for The Cat in the Hat and Digimon The Movie.

    LYNNE LIPTON

Ms. Lipton is a talented film, stage, screen, and voice actress who worked on the original ThunderCats cartoon series. She brought one of the most popular ThunderCats alive, Cheetara, by providing her voice during the entire series run. In addition to Cheetara, Ms. Lipton also provided the voices for Luna of the Lunatacs, Willa Queen of the Warrior Maidens, Mandora, and Wilykit. More recently Ms. Lipton returned to her roots by once again providing the voice of Cheetara for Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story.

I don't believe anyone got in trouble last year (because I bought a print from BustaToons during the last half hour of the show), but the bigger things get the more rules usually get enforced, and it sure sounds like Power-Con is growing fast! (Which is ONLY a good thing!)
