    Hey guys,

I finally got around to picking up and opening up some of the modern versions of the 6" ThunderCats figures, and have been cranking out some reviews! I'll post all new reviews of the Modern 6" figures in this thread.

    Great reviews Dan.

Is it me or do Cheetara's hands look over sized? I'm not collecting the new Thundercats figures but if I saw her in a store I might buy her, although those black pegs are an eyesore. What I really want is a Classic Cheetra, that I would buy for sure as I just like the 80's design better, and there's that nostalgia thing.

Here's my latest: 6" Tygra! The impossible to find figure!

If this line is truly coming to an end, it's a shame. Tygra shows that Bandai was finally starting to get on the right track. He's the best figure int he line, imo.

    Enjoy!

*sigh* Well thanks for going over Tygra! Good (or bad) to know he's as awesome as he looks! I don't have the patience to hunt for him or the cash to pay over what he's worth at the moment. Maybe something good will happens and the toys will kick back in again - who knows. Thanks for the review!

The review was great, I tried to pick out the best one to send you but to be honest almost all of them were the same. I am glad I am not the only one who noticed the figure just felt different overall, its sturdier and just put together better.

Which just reinforces what you said that it appeared they seemed to finally get it right, and now that might be the end

Thank you again, Mark! I and Manny both very much appreciate you hooking us up for this review!

And yep, exactly. I was literally shocked at how much better this figure was made. I couldn't believe it. If they had been like this since the beginning, they would have been much better received.

Its really eye opening when you have him up against Lion-O like you did, Panthro and Cheetara were well done but its like night and day between the brothers I think.

I would really be interested to see if prototypes for Kit/Kat ever show up, given the way they were heading those 2 could have looked great articulated.

I tend to put Lion-O and Panthro in the same bunch. I just don't like Panthro's face very much. But Lion-O is absolutely the worst of the 6" line. Looking at him next to Tygra is crazy, and really drives home the point I was making about Tygra feeling like he's from a different line.

I'd be curious to see that as well. I thought Bandai had mentioned on MTV Geek a LONG time ago that those two were in the works for the 6" line. I wouldn't be surprised if there are prototypes of them.

Bandai just recently claimed there will be more Thundercats toys. How this gels with the dearth of previews of new product and the clearing of Tcats toy pegs to make room for other toys... I don't know.

They did mention that Kat and Kit would be a two pack on the same card back then.

If the line were dying/dead that would be a great item for Bandai to partner with TRU/Entertainment Erath and do as a SDCC exclusive next year like they did the Lion-O and the MOTUC 2pk

I am not a fan of Tygra old or new, I skipped the 8 inch classic and the 4 inch figure. So, when I say I actually kind of want him now says a lot. He does look great compared to the others, and I think Bandai had finally gotten what they should have done from the beginning. But considering they are used to doing primarily kid toy lines and anime based ones they just aren't used to making great toys. Of course I did like the Gundam stuff they did way back when.

I think when they want to Bandai can make great toys, I just get the feeling they figured they could crap out toys cheaply and not really worry about accuracy/detail and that was met with a resounding NOOOOO from both fans and casuals.

It had to resonate too because you can see the 6" advance from Lion-O to Cheetara to Tygra. Cheetara was an assortment before Tygra and had the matte paint and closer to show look, then you have Tygra which had better paint and really close to show design.

I am not sure what a Wave 3 of the 4" would look like but I would suspect just like how Claudus and Slithe are better figures that they were working towards getting the 4" right as well.

Do you have a pic of Slithe? He isn't the same as the lizard guy with the canon, I assume.

I agree, I think they were expecting people to just buy it all up out of nostalgia. I did it to support the line and show because I want it to be successful. Because the companies behind this stuff tend to not realize why the toys etc didn't do that well, not helped by the very loud complainers who want perfect recreations of what they grew up with, even if the LJN stuff itself wasn't all that great in of itself.

    Thanks. That's a nice figure.

That would be a shame if he never becomes available in quantity. I'm not big on the 4 inchers right now because those would be the prime Big Lots candidates LOL, but I would still pick him up if I see him somewhere.
