I liking this dude more and more-especially knowing he's Preternian now.

Killian-Knight Light is a great idea-I actually had a great contest submission idea that I never got mailed in (nearly a hundred did though!) and his name was Nyte-Light! I really loved that design too...
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

    They said he's from Preternia?

Preternia was a cool concept that I really liked when it was different from the Eternia we know. Now it seems like every character was around for it. Hell, it seems like Preternia had more characters than modern Eternia does. ToyGuru, or whoever is writing the bios, sure loves taking the "special" or mystery out of everything. First we get, over several bios, a long winded & unnecessary explanation for Castle Grayskull and now Preternia is nothing more than a name where pretty much all the same characters were around for.

To be fair, a lot of Preternian characters are only around for Preternia and don't make it to the present day. We've no reason to think SLL exists in the here and now (yet.) So I don't think it makes it less magical or different. In fact, which characters actually survive until today? Moss-Man... and (sort of) Megator? Isn't that it?

History repeats itself, I don't get why that is a bad thing? Preternia the way it is being done now establishes the importance of He-Man and his struggles and battles.

I mean from what we know the heroes of the past never truly defeated evil, they just found ways to temporarily lock it up or remove it from being an immediate threat.

The power he fights against is ancient and the fact that he ends up conquering it (I assume anyway) just makes him the Ultimate Hero

I also don't see how it seems like Eternia has less characters, if you remove the Horde and the Snakemen the modern era easily 2x or 3x in terms of characters.

I for one and ecstatic Preternia gets that much backstory as it has, it was killed off when the vintage line died and so it just fits that MOTUC is supposed to be in part a way to give us what we never got before in the 80's

In fiction, history repeating itself is, imo, both boring & uncreative. Giving us Preternian versions of many of the modern Eternian characters(MYP's idea, but the bios writers stuck them in Preternia) takes away from both He-Ro & He-Man's visit into the past. If he just sees an Orko with eyebrows, a Sorceress in a different outfit, & another Man-At-Arms, it seems more like an alternate universe than the past.

I also don't see how it seems like Eternia has less characters, if you remove the Horde and the Snakemen the modern era easily 2x or 3x in terms of characters.
I was exaggerating(sorry, I thought it was obvious). Between time travel, ressurections, & long lifespans, there seem to be more people from modern Eternia who have been to Preternia than those who haven't. Again, I said "seem". I may be wrong. I just have no desire to start rereading the bios to prove it one way or the other.

Wasn't Gygor from it as well?

Honestly, the bios mean nothing to me since I feel they might be the worst canon for MOTU ever. Although, since Sir Laser-Lot is a new character, he'll now be linked with Preternia forever(although the odds of MOTU continuing after this toyline ends seems pretty poor right now).

Who was the other Man-At-Arms? Do you mean the guy who's possibly Extendar?

Veena is the first Sorceress, King Grayskull is the first He-Man. Everything has its roots and beginnings. *shrugs* Oracle is supposedly Orko from the future. When he gets old, he goes to the past to live out his days and help KG out, I guess. This was hinted at in the MVC comics, I've heard. Who knows what they will do in MOTUC with Oracle (if anything) though.

Preternia in the 80's had more characters though:

This video has almost nothing that ties it to Sir Laser-Lot, but ever since he was revealed, I keep thinking of this as his theme music.

After seeing him in the comic pages in black and white I think I might buy and extra and try a simple black and white paint scheme

That's an extremely good idea Mark- always thinking this one! Do you mean a more general comic style like in the mini or Sin City style dark washing style?

I have to say that this figure sucks........I dont know which is worst....Laser alot or Spector.
I am so ****ed off that Mattel could add these things to Motu.

There is so many great characters that have been released and this is the best they can come up with.

I honestly see the point about diluting Pre-Eternia; i still harken back to the original POG storyline, which looked to incorporate a lot fo present day stuff like the Snake Men (so no big change there), but lumping the Horde and other characters (even Evil lynn is now from that time, if I recall) into that era does take away from it. THe whole idea of the original was to expand the mythos, not simply fold a lot of things that already exist (like the Goddess now being Sharella) into it. I would much rather have them take more things like Gygor, who never made it into the line, and some of the new characters like Laserlot and Draego Man, to populate the time period. Putting some of the new or never made stuff into that world would make it seem new and a lot more exciting. Finding out that he-Man is just silly-fighting a lot of the same villains He-Ro and KG did doesn't really add anything to the tale. Having Hiss and a time displaced Keldor be the links to the past was fine, a good springboard to jump off from, but way too much is being dumped into the old world in this new tale. I think Vikor and Demo-Man would be far more interesting as characters of their own rather than a second rate He-Man and a mere power source for Skeletor. I think it would have been great, if we needed some new characters, to see some of the rulers or heroes/villains of the other kingdoms like Avion from that time, especially if the denizens of those kingdoms were significantly different than they are now.

Just seems a lot of lost opportunity to wedge existing concepts into a place where they don't add a lot. We have WAY too many characters that have been around for 5000 years, and it doesn't really help the story in any way I can see.

As for Laserlot himself, if he is Pre-Eternian, I think that's even more reason to add some sword and sorcery elements to him; he's way too heavily sci-fi for the olden days, even if we still do have bionic dinos back then.

My personal theory on why so many of the "new" characters not from the original toyline is that it's a way for them and us to "have our cake and eat it too." They can introduce all of these characters into a time period/era that there was very little actually dealt with during the first run. It's essentially a whole second mythology in ways, that happens to lead into the MOTU that we knew and loved. This way, they don't "dilute" the "present day" MOTU universe and storyline with a lot of characters that aren't known by the general public, while still adding them to the overall lore.

    Interesting picture!

Anyhow, Geoff Johns is using a picture of Sir Laser Lot as his Twitter avatar! That's kind of interesting. He also tweeted this on May 4th:

SWEET! A fanpage for the He-Man figure I desiged - SIR LASER LOT!! BEWARE BEAST MAN! https://www.facebook.com/sirlaserlot
Now...I wonder if he's going to slay Beastman?

That's the only tweet regarding Sir Laser Lot I could find. Geoff seems to like to tweet about cereal...a lot. He even took a bunch of pictures of cereal on an 8 a.m. shopping trip. No fooling...a BUNCH of cereal pics.
