Snake Men Guards discussion

Absolutely the best of the bunch in my opinion. I think the rest were a mixed bag. That's not to say they were the only good ones, but even some of the other good ones seem to be getting a mixed reception due to some of their features.

Am I right in saying that the darker/brown Snake man shares the same furry loincloth desing as Snake MAA and that's a new loincloth design? I also think the scaled undies of the lighter/yellow Snake man is new also. I don't think that's the only new parts outside of the obvious (heads and such), so I'm wondering what potential parts re-use there might be for future figures with those parts.

Personally I think the chest guard on the yellowish Snake Man could be modified slightly to make a good NA He-man chest guard (or even a He-man/He-Slave figure if it came with a switchable part like Bow's heart symbol on his armour).

The snake warriors destroyed the other reveals in my opinion.

Also, since the snakemen have two very different sets of armor along with the four heads, you can actually make more combos than you could with the palace guards in my opinion. The similar palace guard armor was great, but since the snake warriors are unhelmeted, the different looking armor helps a lot.

I am slightly disappointed that one of them isn't green though.

I'd be in favor of painting the orange one green.

I can't wait for these. The only good reveal imo.

Great sculpts, I love the MYP aspects and the cool weapons.

It'll be a bit harder to make 4 unique guys than it was with the guards, but perhaps some boil-and-pop parts-switching can create a couple of unique, 2-toned snake men. =)

I agree, these were the BEST figure reveals we got today!

I love how these look! My only complaint might be that both are warm colored and I'd like to get one or two with cool colors also. But that could be just a variant away, and these kick ass regardless! Gut reaction, they came off the best of all the reveals, but I still haven't seen a close up of Spikor.

Well that's the assumption I'm going with until I hear otherwise. Personally I think people like Pixel Dan would have informed us if they were actual known Snake men. Plus with Spikor and Frosta looking the way they do it would be an astounding about turn to go with what would possibly be radical departures for the characters.

They're close though. I'm 97% happy. I only wish one was green. I'm not getting that.

Definitely buying at least eight sets of these guys. And the best part is, they can also be used for Skeletor.

Yep, these are awesome. Their parts obviously set us up for more SM (e.g. Rattlor). Perhaps there's such love for them because they are fairly original, not re-interpretations of beloved vintage figures?

Anyway, great additions to a very small faction.

Yes. In MYP, there were five Snake Men army builder models that were used.

Good point. Some people have been asking why there isn't a green one (to go with either the Palace Guard extra head or Snake MAA head maybe?). Plus I think a few people wanted to see a Snake man in the style of Man-E-Faces Snake man disguise from the 200X comic (which was green and had a somewhat unique look to it).

Spikor has a funny face. I think it's mainly inspired by the cartoon (which is probably why he has interchangeable hand and Spiked Trident attachment).

edit: Actually Man-E-Faces Snake man disguise looks an awful lot like the Snake man in the foreground of the first pic linked by MetalGearMax (but I'm sure he was more green in the comic). Good find MGM.

Thanks for the screencaps. They are totally Classicized MYP Snake Men.

Here's another screencap I just took. There's lot of snake men in "History".
