Why do all the POP figures have open mouths? Except Catra and Jewelstar

I don't understand even with She-ra, all the POP figures (now with Frosta even) have their mouths open. Catra and Jewelstar are the only two to not have open mouths.

Is there a reason for this? Why do the POP characters always have open mouth sculpts?

Well it would seem that all of them do not then if the 2 you listed don't and neither does Bow?

I'm not a huge fan of the "parted lips" look either.

It's not a "smile". It's not a ferocious "grimace". And it's not a fear-inducing "war cry". It's just a strange open-mouth look.

Maybe all the female members of The Great Rebellion have the flu and, as such, they have to breathe through their mouths since their noses are blocked with mucus?

I really do wish they would stop with the "open mouth" look. It looks very good on a couple of the characters we've got. Some, it's given them a "duh" look...where they're standing confused...with their mouths open.

It's just best to avoid that, in my opinion. I prefer non-teeth showing figures (smile or battle cry).

I believe it's a direct reference to how they were drawn in Filmation a lot of the time.

Huh?

Ok Bow Catra and Jewelstar don't have their mouths open, the rest of the POP girls all have their teeth showing. None of the He-man women have their teeth showing.

It is funny that none of the MOTU females have the mouths slightly open like the POP girls. I didn't care too much for it on Adora, then She-ra, then two of the Star Sisters. Is this how to determine who is POP is by their mouths LMAO. I don't remember the original toys having these slight open mouthed face sculpts.

MATTEL please NO MORE OPEN MOUTHS ON POP! Give Frosta a closed mouth.

If they had a closed mouth there would be a thread 'WHY DO POP figures have a closed mouth'. I don't see that as neither good or bad. It's variety!

Exactly, it does. It is not sexy or elegant or saying hey I can kick your butt. She-ra looks like she needs to go to the Dentist.

And Oops I did forget that it crossed over to the Sorceress on the MOTU side.

I have never cared for the partial mouth opening on any female figures for action figures aimed at boys.

This is an adult line and I guess they want to make them look sexy, but it is making them look lame. Teela was beautiful and BG Evil Lyn helmetless head was beautiful and so was her helmeted head.

It would be nice to see more than one POP not have an open mouth or give us a second darn head! This is why we need Alternate Appearance packs (alternate heads for the characters).

But why would MAttel want to actually put the tooling dollars to good use and give us that head pack we want. Like I said call it Alternate Appearance pack, you do it for Barbie Fashionistas, their head comes off and you can put a different one on, so obviously if children can rip off the head and replace it with a solo head they purchased from Mattel at a retail store. Then the ADULT line of MOTUC can have an alternate heads pack. Allowing us to get different heads for the characters we have, but Scott said Mattel said it was too morbid. Well if it is good enough for kids, it is good enough for us
