MOTUC at retail!! (a Mattel outlet at least)

I was over at the Mattel outlet in San Bernardino, CA and almost fell over when I walked to the middle of the store and saw that they had an end cap of MOTUC.

They had reissue Skeletor, King Randor, and He-Ro for sale. I also saw tags on the shelf for Faker, Teela, and Stratos (I assume the reissue) but those 3 were sold out.

It was so strange yet awesome to see them all in retail and not having to pay shipping. The one lame part was seeing the price tags for Faker, Teela, and Stratos say "Retail price $21.99 - Sale price $19.99" I was just wondering when they were ever $21.99.

Simple seeing that picture made me realise that, if MOTUC was on shelves, I would be buying a LOT more figs. I already have all of the figures that you mentioned, but I would have grabbed at least one more of each, and possibly several He-Ros. You should buy them out and sell them here (or eBay).

Have to agree, if these went to retail i would buy extras like the Shadow Beasts, even if they were a bit dearer i would be saving on shipping anyway. I noticed on those boxes there are no names on them, looks alot better having the names of the characters especially being sold at retail. Looks like that end has really been hit hard which is good.

NICE! There's one at their Headquarters in El Segundo that I used to go to all the time during the 200X days, so it looks like I'll have to start checking it out again!

Hmmm...well i'd like to have MOTUC in stores, but i guess that, for us poor Europeans, its never gonna happen.
Its not an easy trasititon either, as this line was conceived with adult collectors in mind, usually lines targeted to kids are...just different.
The good side would be that, if such a trasition was eventually made, that would mean vehicles and playsets by the score!

Cool. I just wish the picture had included a bunch of kids (or adults) fighting each other in a frenzy to get at them.
I'm sure this is just a little "test the waters" exercise by Mattel.

It's great to see (and weird at the same time) MotUC at a retail store! I know if the figures were available at retail outlets here, there'd be more of a chance i'd be tempted to buy extras but i can't envision this happening outside of the U.S. unfortunately. Great to see nonetheless

dude.. just thought of that.. I'm in Ajax, where abouts in Mississauga is the outlet.. i play hockey there alot wondering where it might be..

I'm also checking out the Samco Sale this year which starts Sept 25 who knows right.hahah they carry lots of Mattel products.. you just never know

Toy Guru already said they would be doing this because the amount left over after the last comic con was too miniscule to logistically put them back up on Mattycollector.

Don't read into this too much or take it as water testing.

Nope these are the extras they take to cons like C2E2, NYCC, SDCC and whatever stock is left over for returns/exchanges.

I still don't understand why "sold out" figures are made available like this.

They should implement a "wait list" on Matty.com the same exact way Sideshow does it on their website.

Then after the initial returns/exchanges are handled, contact the top people on the wait list.

Oh wait, probably too much logistics involved . . .
