I know these challenges are tough, and when we don't win, or see so much great work that we are pitting our own skills and visions against, it can be disheartening. But, I have to say, being part of these challenges has been a wonderful experience for me and can be for anyone who shares in the fun. I did win one challenge, yes, but when I lost, I lost hard, lol. Almost no votes. But in the end, if not for these challenges getting me to create the pieces I did, I wouldn't have them in my albums of work to share. I would have never been noticed as an artist had I not started in redesign #96, and I would have never been offered the opportunities I have been given without my art on the Org since.

Dunno if I'll win this one, but I gotta say, it's pushing me to create my best color work yet, and progressing me as an artist; I need to pull out all the stops if I wanna beat guys like Bearshow, oICEMANo, Dandbrenus, Zombiehamma-AI, and heaven forbid if someone like Baena shows up to chalenge us all.

But in the end, I am so glad to have the piece I'm working on, and the new lessons that come with it towards making me a better artist, striving for new techniques.

Wolfy, you've got your own style bro. You didn't win the She-Ra redesign challenge, but I gotta say, I loved your submission. I never forgot it and I'm glad you created it.
Chalenges are tough, and not everyone can win, but remember to see what you personally got out of each one!


Not to mention, these chalenges helped me befreind people like you, Patreek, Predabot, and so many others.

well I knew this was going to be my last when i did it...again. I had already quit earlier but I did one last one when Pred stepped down as a kind of goodbye gesture and now I did this one for you and Pat as a welcome gesture. But that is it..no more...until you quit and then I may do a farewell one

I just don't like challenges / comps because I don't like the idea of there having to be a loser (especially if it is me )

i already appreciated danbrenus' redesing, so i won't repeat myself;

zombihamma' sketch is amazing: love it;

wolfsfang design respects the iconic look of he-man adding a personal touch:
good choice;

grimbot's one is so hilarious: well done, sir;

pyre's redesing is very radical and plenty of incredible details: looking forward
to see the final version of the eternian crusader;

well, actually i also like feuerkorn's image posted by sky breaker, even if
not part of the contest (for what i understood).


i promised to pyre i'd tried to figure out something for the contest: i'm not good
at drawing, so i thought about a custom (well, more a mix & match, actually)
for my entry...hope i'll purchase all the parts i need in time before the deadline.

Also, HeroMachine 3 is GREAT at making detailed character designs, even if it takes ages to do a decent one. It really has come leaps and bounds over the years. Just thought I'd throw it in here. It's almost like doing your own art! :P

And a new beginning for the redesign challenges has begun to stir the artist in me once again. I'm seriously contemplating getting in on this.

Pyre for the win!, that thing is awesome,it looked good in B&W but with the brown tones, which were unexpected( I figured he would have a more spacey colourful feel)it puts it over the edge, not to mention the frikkin amazing weapons,

Zombiehamma-AI: Wow, thanks bro! =) I cant wait to see it finished either, lol. I think the reason I dont color stuff typically is because of how much time it takes. Never the less, I am sooo proud of pieces that i have colored.

SkyBreaker: That image you posted of he-man from Deviant art is actually a piece that I have in my "favorites" album on my Deviant Art Page. I love it! I think that image is what inspired me to do away with the furry undies and go for a loin cloth instead. Most of my sketches don't have the fuzzy loin thing going on, but for this redesign, I wasnt sure how true to the original concept I wanted to stay. I suppose seeing how that image looked helped my subconcious make the decision. I love Deviant art for stuff like that.

The beard was for a more primal feel to give a nod to Alcala- I never understood how he was a jungle man yet he had a clean shaven face lol? Yeah he has armor I just haven't done it yet :P

I've seen these redesign threads and have often wanted to be give it a go. I'd be lying if I said that I haven't found one excuse or another to talk myself out of it though. But not this time.

Good point. I totally agree. Baby-faces don't make for rugged warrior types. I thought He-man needed to show that he's got a bit more testosterone to make it in today's world of not-so-perfect heroes, so mine has a goatee. good stuff man. Can't wait to see the finished piece!
