    I liked it.

I rented it today based on all the impassioned pleas to give it a chance but woah talk about backing the wrong horse. I see it becoming a cult classic like Dune but no more than that. I don't have much faith in today's general audience but you can't expect them to swallow so much exposition and weirdness with no human connection.
I don't see how anyone can honestly say that the effects work on John Carter was "cheap" no matter what they may think of the rest of the movie. The Tharks surpass even Avatar's much vaunted Na'vi for realistic depiction and intergration.

Are you sure you watched the right movie? It should have been John Carter directed by the Oscar winning Andrew Stanton, not Asylum Entertainment's 2009 direct-to-video cash-in movie Princess of Mars.

I didn't have an issue with the special effects, but other than that, I agree with hopewell 100%. This movie was just awful. I rented it last week and actually had to pause it to take a nap. The pacing was terrible, and the main characters had no depth to them. We watch armies of humans on Mars fight each other, who are identical except for the red uniforms or blue uniforms. Frankly, I was never sure who I was supposed to be rooting for or why I was supposed to care about any of them.

The pacing and the plot were a slow, jumbled mess for about the first 90 minutes of the film. In the final half hour, when it finally feels like the story is going somewhere and something interesting is about to happen, they kill the momentum by having the main character ask for directions to the final battle. Seriously? It's easy to see why this movie tanked at the box office.

This just makes me want to get the BluRay even more. I hear it has top rate extras.

It was an incredible movie combining the 'Princess of Mars' and 'Gods of Mars' deftly.

You know, I tried watching this movie a second time to give it another shot, but I could not sit through it again. I turned it off after about a half hour and gave it back to my friend.

There is a scene in the blooper reel were Lynn Collins is dancing on the boat on the River Iss. It was worth every penny I paid for the Bluray.

Anybody got the Blu-Ray? Are the deleted scenes on there any good? If not I'll just get the DVD.
    Cheers.
