I would be okay for $22 for subs because, subscribers got a break this year...and it's a nice incentive to subscribe. For day-of sales, I wouldn't go above $25...and that's stretching it a bit too. I think, any higher than that, and this line will be in serious danger. $25 is actually $34 when the cheapest, $9 shipping option is added on. That's 3 and a half Marvel Universe, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, Power Rangers or Thundercats figures!

if they had said they were "raising prices in 2013" that would be fine, it would be a case of wait and see but it will probably not be too bad, say 4 or 5 dollars

they used the phrase "Dramatically raising prices" it is the dramatically part that I have no doubt is worrying everyone because dramatic means big, startling, sensational etc

For as much as I LOVE this line, there's NO WAY AT ALL I'm paying 30 USD plus shipping for one figure.

Im thinking $22-23 for the sub "deal" and $25-$27 day of

which I can live with, but I think it would be better if they can make it so we have at least 2 items a month, that way the shipping to not so bad, b/c right now its $13ish for 1 figure or $14ish for 2 figures.

so if they could do 2 items a month vs some months only having 1 item, the figures in the end would be "cheaper"

I am anticipating a $30 price tag per monthly figure for 2013. Anything less than that, and I would be very surprised. Anything higher than that, and I'm out of the game.

Break out my math a little better here.

Right now when I get one figure in my sub, its $20 + $13.15 = $33.15 for 1 figure

If we go with even a $23 sub price for 2 figures, thats $46 + $14.45 = $60.15 or 30.08 for each figure

So by shipping more then 1 figure a month it will make the figures cheaper per figure + shipping even with the price increase

Yeah, I'll be done if it goes up to $30. I'll keep my ear to the ground for the 3 figures left I need, but will no longer buy other ones for fun. And that will be that. I'm glad I got most of the ones I really need for $20.

    too much.
I see 26-27 dollars for 2013 (subs) and may be another raise in 2014 - Im just hoping they came out with the complete vintage serie and at least one dozen figures from filmation, prototypes and mini comic before they quit.

There had better be a dramatic increase in QC to go along with it!

he has been saying the line will die due to price increases... didn't think it might happen so soon so fast. this might be unpopular, but it makes me not want any concept/200x variant figures in the line at all now. need to finish vintage, pop and NA off before the line croaks - rising prices and the state of the economy on both sides of the atlantic means a lot of people are going to jump ship (unfortunately, but understandably).

we didn't get very far with the filmation licence either

I will wait and see the final price before I commit to another sub. If it comes to picking cherries to get the figures I want, so be it.

I agree that they should have 2 figures a month (even if it means we have a month or two without a new MOTUC figure). 1 figure a month is too costly. That's why I will NOT buy anything on MattyCollector if there aren't at least 2 items I want. I wish they would figure out a way to have day-of sale items to ship WITH subs. They would sell so much more if they could figure this out!

I had a Ghostbuster sub in 2012 (which Mattel famously cancelled for everyone). I didn't buy the first figure because I couldn't justify spending $10 more on him than if he shipped with my MOTUC sub. They're losing sales!

yeah its a bad flaw in their system of ordering figures online, they just assume people are just Mattel fans lol, I mean it works out ok for me this year, since my DC, MOTUC, 30th and voltron are combining shipping, but just looking at someone that is only buying MOTUC, it needs to be 2 figures a month

    yep-
I think the big price increase will be in 2015 and then they'll start to re-think the line.
may be they could produce some of the obscure remaining figures as 60 bucks double pack (red and gren daemons with masks and the little version of them - sorry guys but I just figured out how many mini-comics and filmation characters left still are....)

I agree that when the price increases, the focus needs to be less on extending the life of the line and more on just getting these guys out while some of us can still afford them. I'd honestly want Mattel just to start going through and releasing vintage figures (MOTU, POP, NA) only.

Yep. After all the bad news and multiple issues, blunders and debacles we got since December 2011 and until now, I think this new bad news might be too much.

I'll just repeat this : I just hope this line will be able to keep going for 2 more years at least. Unfortunately, it is far from being guaranteed...

Ugh! This just may very well be the straw that breaks this camel's back. As much as I hate to say it... prices close to $30 is just too much for me to handle with the Rand exchange rate. I will have to resort to dropping the sub and only getting figs that I reeeeeeally want.

I think the entire Mattel business strategy with this line is nonsensical, I signed up for the sub because I knew of three figures coming out that I absolutely wanted and a host of others that I'd like to have in my collection. 2013 needs to positively knock my socks off to get me to sign up for a sub again. And the QC issues on MATTEL'S end need to stop. DR is one thing, but improperly assembled figures or outright defective ones are unacceptable. It's also unacceptable that some of my fellow fans never got a Sorceress or Fisto figure with their subscriptions. That's two strikes, Mattel. So if the price increase does not equate better product for the dollars involved, I'm out.
    I'm Quacktacular!

This is fine by me, I want the figures to be the best they can be and not done on the cheap like Vykron. I have no problem in paying more for the figures I want.

I personally wouldn't have said "dramatically increased" UNLESS I was just wanting to cause customers lots more stress.

I wish they would just tell us what they're going to charge and what the plans are for the beast slots. With SDCC about 2 months away, surely they must have this figured out.

I know...I mean...REALLY?! People need time to think it over. If they just announce a potentially shocking price increase AT SDCC, how many people do you think will sign up for subs at the con? That's when they go on sale. If they just announce the increase now, if it's not insanely expensive, it could help gently ease customers into the price gouge...I mean, increase.

EDIT: Mods, since my thread was merged, can the title read:

"MOTUC 2013: Dramatic Price Increase Discussion" ?
