I read about it a couple days ago. I can't imagine it turning out to be a great movie even with today's technology. I just hope it is so bad that it is good like the original.

i was honestly surprised that they made one movie out of the GPK's...now there's talk of another?! i've never really thought that they work in a narrative...the joke kinda works when you look at a card and kind of chuckle at the absurdity...but a 90 min film?

and aren't there 80's properties to adapt that are more in the public consciousness? i mean the property that it's spoofing doesn't even have a feature film!

As a kid, I loved the GPK, but the movie is... well, it is what it is. I can't imagine what they're going to do with it now, but I will see it when it comes out.

Some things from the 80s should stay in the 80s, and this is one of them.

The original is definately a guilty pleasure (yes I own it), but a new one......? Today....? I dont know what audience they would capture besides the nostalgic. Kids today are too into stupid flashy glitsy stuff.

Yeah, I read about this when it broke. Their choice of director is very inspiring. He goes by the name of PES (no joke). He does a lot of short films utilising stop-motion and I think he’s done commercials, too. Supposedly, he came up with the story. Go to YouTube and look at some of his short films. There’s something about them that’s insanely attractive. He's obviously got a wacky imagination, so I'm pretty intrigued to see what he'll come up with. Might turn out to be a perfect marriage.

Here’s one. There are plenty more:

    Wow!

That was pretty good. Really creative.

Not sure if that can translate in a GPK movie.

I'm a huge GPK collector but I hated the 80's movie. A big disappointment to me at the time. I can only hope that this one is better. But I think I would prefer a traditionally animated one for it to have a real chance to work. No live action involved. A total CG movie may work but I'm old fashioned when it comes to my animation.

If Michael Bay wants to take on another 80's property to turn into A feature film, why doesn't he take A crack at this instead of The Turtles?

I suppose this isn't exactly the "bottom of the barrel" in terms of forgotten 80s properties to revive... there are certainly other shows from the 80s that are far more obscure. I can probably see Filmation's Ghostbusters never getting a film just because of hideous rights issues, and a lot of people would call it a "ripoff"(regardless of which was around first or not, Akroyd's series is what the public knows). I also have to think that if something like Beverly Hills Teens gets a revival then Hollywood has officially lost any will to create, and is scraping things that fell through the bottom of the barrel.

Though knowing the way the industry works, BHT is probably already in line for a DVD release of the entire series, while Extreme Ghostbusters and The Mask TAS may never see anything.

PES just made a post on his official Facebook page. He didn't say much, but he did confirm that the film will be animated! Judging from his background, it would be a good bet to assume that it could be stop-motion. He also said that he'll regularly post updates, so I'm going to be keeping a close eye on his page.

Regardless of how it turns out, being animated or CGI will be infinitely better than the 1980's version

I would have to concur with the condition that the film be not too "kiddified".
