Filmation Hordak: Variant or Different Character?

If and when there is to be a Filmation version of Hordak which would no doubt possess hours of fun swapping out various parts like Modulok. However, should this version of Hordak be Hec-tor-Kur himself or an inept relative or something with his bio being a complete carbon copy of the character in Filmation?

I think he should simply be Hec-Tor Kur after...

...he gets his left arm sliced off by King Grayskull wielding He-Ro's techno-virus infected Power Sword, which results in Hordak now having Techno-Virus abilities to change himself and his arms into new weapons!

crap not that it's important I guess but I wanted my vote to reflect that for me Gray Hordak is a Magic user Preternian (Hek Tor Kur) while Blue Hordak is the techno guy. I voted wrong, fix it?

I like to think that when Hordak fought Grayskull and got discorpriated in the common era he grew into Horde Prime, Filmation's "Older Brother". I'm not married to that but yes, Blue Tech and Gray Magic are different cats to me.

I'd like to see a Hec-Tor Kur figure with option of making him Filmation.
Made a thread about the MVC Hec-Tor Kur

    how about this:
technomancer hordak-shapeshifting leader of the evil horde
    real name: hec-tor kur
when hordak was freed from the dimension of despondos he had been angry that his magic had failed against king grayskull and had not been able to free him. using a small sample of techno-virus, he had stolen from he-ro's blood, he transformed himself into a powerful master of technology able to shapeshift into a multitude of weapons and forms. with his cannon arm and rocket form, technomancer hordak is now more powerful and terrible than before

Both are the same... Blue one is just a bit more evolved and has been further infected by Techno virus.
    We don't need no education...

Yes you do, you've just used a double negative!

Tekno virus, of course. Pretty cool.

But my idea of how they are separate characters helps me reconcile the Filmation and MVP versions.

How Hordak was portrayed in the various media as either a shape-shifting cyborg (Filmation) or a high-level magic user (mini-comics/MYP) gave the idea that they tend to be different characters. Filmation Hordak simply suffered under the mandate that 80s cartoon villains have to be incompetent and get owned by the good guys in every episode. Personally, I just don't see the more sinister gray Hordak cowering in fear at the mere mention of "Horde Prime".

Same dude-he's just wearing' a nifty blue suit. His transformations, if we have to accept that as partif his character in MOTUC, is derived from his mastery of magic and technology.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

If they made a filmation variant I would probably move the gray one to my preternia shelf and put the filmation one with my Horde crew on my POP shelf.

Filmation Hordak is the same grey Hordak after being infected by Central tower (Buzz Saw Hordak) that would explain his changing abilities.

    Same guy.

Honestly, introducing Horde prime is one Hordak too many.... we don't need yet ANOTHER Hordak diluting the awesome pool.

I agree with this as we all talked about this in some way in the 'Pages Revealed' thread; Hordak (as per my thumbnail theory) is also infected with the techno virus although due to his physiology kept it dormant until the traumatic event of losing his arm triggered the virus, blending in with his natural mystical abilities!!!
