Really Cool Board Games played with Miniatures?

What is/are your favorite board games (old or new) that are played with miniatures?
(like miniature soldiers future or fantasy) (Not table top games like Warhammer though, but games that come with some type of actual board or platform to play on)

I love Heroscape. It isn't sold anymore in stores, but most of the items can be found at fairly decent prices. The concept is really fun and the fact that you build the board allows for unlimited options. The figures are/were also relatively inexpensive and not blind boxed. It really is a nice, simpler version of games like Heroclix and the StarWars miniatures game with elements of table top wargaming. While some luck is involved in dice rolls, choosing your squad and strategy is definitely still important. There are basic sets, D&D sets, and Marvel sets.

While I have a love/ hate relationship with Risk, Risk 2210 is my favorite version of the game. Lots of options and added depth make you feel more in control as the player (the dice aren't the only thing in charge).

Zombies!! by Twilight creations is a game system that while having its own rules, is really a great starter kit for building your own campaigns and game rules. The starter sets come with around 50 zombies and player figures while other sets add more zombie types. You build with tiles as you play expanding your play area, whether it is a city/ forest/ prison/ mall/ etc.

Its an older game and hard to get now, but some of my friends swear by the StarWars epic duels game. I think it came out around the time AOTC was released.

Heroscape is fun, but takes a while to set up. I haven't played it in ages but I enjoy it. HeroQuest was AMAZING when I was a kid. I wish I still had a copy of it. I recently got Castle Ravenloft, and it's fun. I just don't have a lot of people around who will play that sort of in-depth board game with me! Speaking of which, I really want to try Risk Legacy. The concept sounds great. Finally, I must say Jedi Duels is probably one of the best games I've ever played. Even if you're not into Star Wars, it's fun and the mechanics are easy. I played that over and over when I first got it long ago.

the only game i've played is heroquest. as i understand it, it was a light version of D&D, but i've never played D&D so i don't know how accurate that is. it was hard to find people to play with though, so most of the time i just played with the little figurines. my brother and his girlfriend mentioned getting together for board game nights just yesterday; i may have to bring that one over.

i had considered buying zombies!! a few years back, but decided against it because i didn't think i'd be able to play it often. i may reconsider if board game night becomes a regular thing.

Warhammer has made boards games; they had Space Hulk re-made a couple of years ago.

Star Wars Epic Duels is a great game! I wish they had come out with some expansions to it.

I have not played Risk 2210 yet. I've only ever played the original version. We have it. I'd like to get my hands on either the Star Wars version, or the Lord of The Rings version. Is 2210 much different?

Well.. Games Workshop actually. Warhammer Quest and Space Hulk are GW Games. Well... I know what you mean. But I just meant non-table top gamess like where you build huge armies out of models and fight on terrain.

Me and some friend back in our table top days would buy up several. I remember Heroquest was pretty good. Dragonstrike wasn't too bad. Then I forget the names of the others because often we found them at closeout stores, some were fun for a weekend or two but since we got them for 3-5$ that isn't bad to say the least. We often reused the boards and pieces for our Dungeons and Dragons games.

Its kind of like a roleplaying board game, you pick a character and each one has a special ability and can hold certain weapons. You roll the dice and go around the board and most of the spots on the board has a card that dictates either a battle or an event

The goal is to reach the center of the board and then you have to win the crown via a series of dice rolls and attacks on other players.

They have released like 6 expansions for it that add new character choices, events, more boards that go on the sides and new events for the center of the board.

It originally came out in the late 80's by Games Workshop and was resurrected a few years ago for a 4th edition by Fantasy Flight Games

Me, my wife and my brother can play it and sometimes the game will go 4-5 hours depending on what cards are drawn and if you decide you want to eliminate your opponents before attempting to journey to the center for the crown

Are those yours? Did you paint them yourself?

Makes me want to buy the main box set and see if it goes over well in my house.

I thought I was the only one who owned this game!

Super Dungeon Explore is a great little fantasty/video-game themed miniature board game. "8-bit" is the easiest setting/lowest level, but the more players you have, the further along this scale you go, to "16-bit" and finally to "Super." At 16-bit you can fight a mid-boss, and Super you fight a big, nasty boss.

You can choose from a rather large assortment of classic fantasy hero types, all with their own powers (tiefling rogue, human paladin, barbarian, dwarven fighter, elven battle cleric, Druid, witch), and you go around killing various monster types that the "Game Master" player can spawn at certain points. And the GM can decide what to spawn based on their point level, and weight it against how tough the units are. And the more the heroes kill, the more treasure they earn to beef up their guys.

It has a bit of a learning curve, and you have to glue all the pieces together, but it is a surprisingly fun board game. And once you learn it, you realize it's actually pretty easy to remember everything.

if i get around to playing heroquest again, i'm thinking about making my own expansion. i'll be limited to whatever came with the regular game, but i definitely want to make my own maps on graph paper and maybe even tweak the rules here and there.

I LOVE Talisman! I've got the 2nd & 3rd editions (and all their expansions), but thought I'd better draw the line on getting the 4th even though I really wanted it. I mean, how many versions of the same game does one person need?

Not sure I ever heard of it! I looked it up and it looks pretty cool. I just snapped it up on Ebay for $30 shipped. Not bad at all. Have you ever played it? Is it fun?

No I haven't. I was browsing privateer's website for a troll to build and paint when I noticed it. Ive sold off a couple war hammer armies because I build them and never really he around to playing. My biggest time sink is XBL.
