What big, unexpected twist could be introduced into Classics canon to shake things up

As it's Good Friday but we all seem to be moaning our heads off once again (and rightly so - Matty and DR, you should be disgusted at yourselves, especially for international fans still awaiting items from the end of last year onwards!!), here's a more creative thread topic.

What "unexpected twist" could be introduced into the Classics continuity to really shake things up?

I'm kinda talking the equivalent of the revelation of Adora / She-Ra's existence in 1984/5. Six months previously, who would've ever magined that Adam had a sister abducted as a child, who is actually a super-woman equivalent of He-Man?

So kinda like that. Yes we've had various canon worked into this "one continuity" vision (the Cosmic Key, Marlena from Earth, wonderful inclusion of unproduced prototypes as "new" characters, so many others) on a secondary scale, but what seriously big "twist" could be introduced to the Classics canon to really add some new spice?
(Note I'm thinking on the lines of something new and totally unexpected, not the kind of "introducing (previously unseen but mentioned race" into the line, etc.).

I keep wondering if they'll try to turn an evil warrior good or vise-versa. (And not via brainwashing or snakifying.) As in, Tri-Klops becomes a heroic warrior or Teela becomes of the bride of Skeletor.

I also wonder if Evil-Lyn's son of Skeletor will turn out to be some sort of revelation.

I also would absolutely exclude Tri-klops going good, and we already have a good guy gone bad in a snakemen way.
I think some alliance change is coming from the ultimate, utter defeat of Hordak. Maybe his surviving cronies, mostly brainwashed puppets, would revert to "normal" and side solit between the remaining factions? Maybe, while He-man and Skeletor go to space, they may even try to snatch some power for their own, perhaps creating a new faction?
A pretty big shock would be Etheria being destroyed, maybe as a consequence of the return of Hordak for the ultimate battleground, before Skeletor hands him his ugly butt once and for all?
I would not mind knowing all those annoying rebels are history

Not to be a downer, but for me it would be nothing. The bios - love em, hate em, tolerate or ignore em, are a HORRIBLE way to tell a good story. you're too limited with space and release schedules. So whatever revelation comes up it just makes for controversy but we never get a real payoff as it can't develop and play out.

I think the biggest twist they did was 007 Orko. Orko came out TWO YEARS AGO, and since then there's been nothing else regarding that story. it's an idea I think is HORRIBLE, but again many times horrible ideas can be redeemed with a strong narrative to support it, we CAN'T get that with the bios. So again any twist IMO just falls flat and I end up throwing it away.


I liked where MVC was going with the Faker dimension storyline, having the heroes stuck there while their villainous doppelgangers are on Eternia would have fleshed out into a very neat story with long term consequences. but again, the bios aren't built for that kind of storytelling. that's why I wish they'd be actual character bios rather than an attempt to build a narrative, it's too disjointed to work properly

I don't see why anyone should give you flack, but how does introducing a gay character equal a big, shocking twist? If you would have said that an existing character we all knew was revealed to be gay, that would be more of a shocking twist.

Courtney Cox and Gwildor! a movie related line would totally get me pumped. I really enjoy the villains so much in that film. I would be down with a homosexual MOTU figure. It could be a brother and sister combo too.

I think the idea of shoehorning in a race/ethnicity/gender/orientation etc. just for the sake of representation within a property is irresponsible and silly to be honest. If the character had a compelling back story and it was explained what being gay had to do with the character as a whole then awesome! If it were to be a situation similar to Joss Whedon making

then that is an instance where I think it would be more harmful than helpful.

That would fit right into MOTU with the play-on-words names, as that could be the character's name and 'power'.

..... although that's noy a very 'strong' power on Eternia when people like Prince Adam are wearing pink & lavender outfits.
