I agree with everyone! I really, really like that cover too.

I wonder...do you guys think Mattel actually had the comic guys do He-Man and crews outfits different like this to see fan reaction? You know, testing the new designs to see if they would fly in a new MOTU live action film? I could see it. I mean, they obviously wouldn't tell us about it, but I could see it. The more detailed armour would make sense (movie costumes are more detailed).

Anyway, in this picture...if the cross was red instead of yellow, I think I would be okay with the design in a film.

Also...I'm pretty sure the "creature" in the center (beneath the boat) is Mer-Man! He looks massive and freaking creepy!

I'd love a MOTUC version of that He-Man.

Love it! Merman looks gigantic...but that might just be for dramatic effect. like when you see a villains guant hand reaching down on a group of villains. its just for dramatic effect

If this was to be a movie look then colour me SOLD!

This new look has already grown on me even if it does fly in the face of everything that Scott has been saying and the new style guide.

Wow, that's the most impressive piece of He-Man art I have seen in a long time !!!

If they used this look for a live-action movie, they could always have He-Man tear off the chainmail to use as a weapon, revealing the iconic undies underneath.

That is probably one of the best pieces of He-Man art created for the property since the days of the classic toy box art.

That cover is AWESOME!!! Really like the new costume and whoever colored that piece is BRILLIANT!!!
-THIS is what we need for a new movie/toy line/ ect. Something that's a little more "modern" or up to date and that people instantly recognize as He-Man. First issue is just a few weeks away!!!
I love it when a plan comes together.

This guy does some of the cover art for IDW's G.I. Joe series. He really makes the characters look realistic! I wonder if he's an 80's kid, since he's doing He-Man too?

Mattel could easily make a figure from this in the same way as they could make a 200X He-Man: new harness, new removable belt ala Fisto and new sword. There you go.

Is that actually issue #3's cover or a variant, btw? I wish they had him do all the standard covers.

BTW - I see no Mer-man there. I think it's all just sea creatures that are Mer-man inspired.

we're guessing more than anything that the silhouetted figure is mer-man.

I guess it could be. I assumed it was just another sea creature but looking at it again I guess the other ones don't have arms... from what we can see. I guess we'll find out... in a few months! I wish the first issue was out already!

    Great cover!

It is definitely Mer-Man, but he's probably no more giant than Trap-Jaw is on the main cover.

It's an obvious silhouette or shadow of Mer-Man. While Mer-Man isn't going to be that big, shadows can kill. And often times a very small Mer-man can cast a very large shadow.
