why not go with blogger or wordpress? I'd like to do stuff like that too, I just don't find the time, I opened a site for it but I haven't done a thing.

nothing done yet though
I can't help feeling jealous when I check out my favorite toy sites and the guys on there are covering the latest news from some faraway convention, or I listen to a podcast of people waxing nerdy on my favorite subjects. I want to cover toy news, I want to do a Podcast. Howcome I can't do that stuff? IDK how, that's why. So for starters what webhost should I use to start my blog? Any ideas?

I've been thinking about doing this too. I'm just about finished with grad school and will definitely have some more time on my hands.

I say go for it.

You 'n me both, sir! So far I've got G.I. Joe reviews over at Joebattlelines and Joesightings, but I wana branch out and do my own thing in my own place. I just gotta find something and friggin' DO it, but I just never feel like learning some interface or whatever I gotta do. I'd like to start with a blog, 'cause that would probably be simple, but eventually I'd like to move to my own site. Just don't know how to start.

Maybe everyone in this thread just needs to get together and create our own site!
If I ever create one by myself, I'm going to call it Action Figure BBQ, both in reference to my online handle and the old Space Ghost album "Space Ghost's Musical Barbecue."
I actually took some pictures a year or so ago with a bunch of fire themed toys laying on my grill with condiments, buns, and other such cookout themed things laying around (pretty sure one of the firestorms was in a bun!)

I think the biggest hurdle is finding a unique voice. There are a lot of established toy blogs out there. People need a compelling reason to go to a new one.
even if no one visits it, you're doing something you want to do. consider it a hobby or an extension of your hobby.![]()

Thanks for the suggestions guys. So, you guys like Blogger and Wordpress? Can I get a blog on either of those that gives me my own URL, you know, without .blogspot or .wordpress in it?
Edit: So I just checked it out on Wordpress. I can get a domain name there for a miniscule fee. So now I need to know where I should host my forums if I have them. Freeforums.com seems good, but once again there's the problem of freeforums.com will be part of the url. Is there a good, cheap forum hosting site where I can get my own domain name? Vbulletin is awesome, but expensive. Maybe I should just deal with the limitations of a free forum until/if I get enough traffic to justify spending a little money.
