Battle Beasts new website, comic and toys from Diamond Select

1 day before the official countdown end the new Battle Beasts website has gone live just hours ago. There are plenty of news including a IDW comics book, a C2E2 promo figure, etc. I personnaly like a lot the new way DST is going with the line. It seems that they are now more in focus of getting their own ffeling into the figures rather than just making Minimates duplicate of the old ones.

For those who don't care about a new vision of the Battle Beasts and want new figures that are evolution of the original ones I recommend the Armovor from ONELL DESIGN, TGB and Jason Frailey : thegodbeast.blogspot.com

2 years later and we don't have a series 1. I just want a series 1 to collect or not. I think they look pretty cool, but I can't be bothered to look for this or that special release. I'm just not that big a fan of the property. But give me a link to a series of figures I can get without much hassle, and I'll give these a go.

The only downside to this is that they're only allowed to use the Battle Beasts as a concept, not any specific character designs from the original toyline. I would have loved to have seen an updated Pirate Lion at least.

    The comic looks great!
I can't stand the look of those Minnimates, though. I hope that they and just one facet of the brand and DST still make those 5-6" figures that they showed at SDCC in 2010.

Yes, I just remembered those figures. I seem to recall them looking phenomenal. Maybe there wasn't much interest? Comic looks good, though. Good to see another 80s property making a comeback.

I totally want Battle Beast minimates. Not interested in the new figures as I remember them not having the rub signs, however in minimate form im cool with it.

I went to the Minimates panel today and figured some people in this thread might want to know what they said about Battle Beasts

    • This line is not related to any Battle Beasts before it, its literally Beasts who Battle and not the rub sign version that was around before and that Takara is relaunching
    • There is going to be an SDCC Exclusive
    • There is going to be 2 packs at Toys R Us
    • The next few figures are really cool looking, a spider, a walrus, a winged insect, and one other I can't remember
    • The comic line is going to detail the war that is going on
    • They are working on a video game/card game tie in for the line
    • No vehicles planned initially, have to see how the line sells before TRU will agree to help fund vehicles
    • Unless the design calls for it these are going to be unlike any mini-mates before, everything is sculpted and they have designed a new buck to use. There will be big characters and 6 limbed characters which have not been done before.
    • They invested a lot in the line so unless is super bombs there will be quite a few waves to start

Jill and I were able to get the comic and the clear red Battle Beast they were giving out

The panel was alot of fun for about the first 5-10 minutes, then it was all about marvel and the other crap that clutters the shelves in stores.

I did end up getting a few reds and the retailer con exclusive grey one.

    The mini comic is awesome!!!

The other characters mark missed were:

    Scorpion
    Snake

The winged insect he mentioned was the dragonfly.

I'm super excited about this line and the comic series.

I think their stance is probably more legal related than truthful

But having one in hand they are pretty neat, the sculpted parts and accessories go a long way over the standard mini-mate style. I will have to see how the rest turn out but I might actually get into this line. Especially after seeing the Walrus, Scorpion, and Snake

I tried to go to battlebeast.com and had it blocked at work as a sex site. The hell are they doing with Battle Beasts?
Sadly, you can't divorce emotion from a toyline based on nostalgia.

We will be briefly discussing these on our recording of moderately geeky tonight; my short answer is I am indifferent. Most of it has to do with that I want something more in line with the original Battle Beast. Could I be stuck in the past, that is possible.

I feel your pain, but I hear the ones Takara is working on are really sweet & more like the originals!

I have to say...I really do prefer these over the Tarka ones. They are cool too...but don't like the whole dice concept, not big inot RP games of any sort.

I think these are made with the idea of Battle Beasts (original) but for a new market...rather than what the adult nastaligia collectors is looking for (see Tarka).

I like these like new figures not like Battle Beast (if that makes sense). I'll collect them becuase they are a cool figure and not because they remind me of Battle Beasts.

I'm kinda torn between the 2 properties now.

I like what I saw at the DST panel @ C2E2, and the preview mini figure is pretty cool, but the love the loof of the Takara saga figures as they lean more towards the original line of figures.

    decisions decisions!!!
