I may have to make some custom alterations to a few things...

    -The sword, paint it gold
    -The belt, paint it orange
-The loin cloth, give it a more reddish brown.

    Then he will be perfect!

Thanks again for a great review!

I did have one question. Do real caps fit into the shield & backpack?

For those of you pleased with his lighter skin tone because you're telling yourself He-man would lose the natural hue of his skin underground.

    A...He wouldn't

B...Now Mattel can sell you an entire line of variants to display with him! Like Lighter Skin MAA (with no other changes) Oh! And don't forget Lighter Skin Stratos! His face will be lighter in color, but his wings will still be glued in place! You guys will love it! Because, face it, if you think a lighter skin He-man is accurate to the bios, you can't display him with any other heroic warriors showing flesh because...we'll...it just wouldn't look right if no one else's skin was lightened by a few hues!

Nice variant, I really like the bulky armor, it looks heavy.

I also like the sword color, looks special and fits well with the lighter skin tone...

Question: I am not really into MOTUC, as I am much more of a 200X collector. Would you say that this new Thunder Punch He-Man backpack would fit on a 200X He-Man? Any comments would be helpful, as I'm thinking of buying this figure for that purpose. Thanks!

In the video, Dan says his ankles are tight. But I see Dan have to reposition them a couple of times so he'll stand. My Vikor and Fisto had ankles that were so tight I had to struggle just to move the feet. Personally, that's how I want the ankles on my figures. These ankles did not look that tight. This worries me because Kobra Kahn's ankles weren't real tight either.

Yeah, a lot of people have been poitning out the cave thing in the bio. But I don't like that.

Riddle me this: He-Man's tan doesn't come from the sun, becuase he's pale as Adam and tan as He-Man. So it's like a magic tan. So how can hiding out in a cave make you lose your magic tan?

Not a bad figure. I never owned the vintage figure but I guess I could own the MOTUC version of Toilet Paper He-Man.

This is something I'll have to try, but if I had to guess I'd say it'd be much too lose fitting since it's designed to fit the puffier buck of the Classics figures.

The ankles aren't as tight as Vikor's were, for sure. But I also use a padded-top table. Anything I try to stand on it needs some extra adjusting of the legs...and usually still falls over.

I don't buy the cave thing either, but it really doesn't bother me that he's a tad lighter, but then again I'm not much of a parts swapper.

    I disagree.

I think all he really needs is a red touch-up to his boots to tie all of his colors together well; as the brown boots stands out compared to the rest of his dominant red color scheme; to make his MOTUC figure update complete.

If you have time to do that and shoot a pic or report back, that would be awesome. Thanks, and thanks for the great review. I do love Thunder Punch.

    :
I was just at Walmart last night and saw sets of red caps in the tiny little toy gun section at the end of the action figure isle.

I really like the figure. I think the lighter skin tone is nice, as it really brings out the red. Some light, redish accents around the eyes would probably look pretty cool too.

    Thanks Dan.

Good review as always. The figure itself looks really good. I knows there people out there who hate variants, but I think MOTU had some of the best and most creative variants in the vintage line. I had TP He-man as a kid and I played with him a lot. I used to buy tons of those caps and have He-man punch everybody.

The funny thing about watching the review was that I kept thinking about Dragon Blast Skeletor. I never had him as a kid and we can pretty much guess that he's coming.

    Thanks again for the review.

The original line had great creative variants, and they only did it once per year and ONLY for He-Man, Skeletor and Hordak, and they were fun. but come the 90s toy companies did endless variants and very little supporting characters (even if they were amjor part of the storyline) limit it to MOTU in 2002 and yeah, they'd front load EVERY WAVE with a variant and started making supporting chaaracter variants instead of releasing more characters. variant hatred is understandable based on the last 20 years of toys and the last 10 years of MOTU (to be fair call it 2002-2004) but it was VERY bad. pink Batman? disco skeletor, SB he-man? sorry. no thanks.

Easy. The cave was pumped full of Morissey and The Cure music causing He-Man to grow a pale goth skin. I don't think the magic was strong enough to make him want to wear make-up though...

Pfft. Danger? We Americans laugh at danger. Especially when it comes to children's toys!

I'm a vintage purist, so his belt will be the first thing painted on mine... Must be orange. I might leave the loin cloth the way it is... but the belt is a must. The sword, not really a big deal but a nice gold chrome paint would look gangsta!

As far as the whole skin tone debate, I think they went with a lighter skin tone to bring out all the red in his color scheme. It was more of an aesthetic choice. You can say it's because of the story line but.... ehh. I'll go with my theory.

for me the red makes him look even more pale, i'd prefer a darker skin to go with the red myself.

My favorite He-Man variant is almost here! Now where is Dragon Blaster Skeletor for him to fight? Hee hee.

Thank you for addressing the clip-on portion of the shield, I was afraid it was all completely vac-metal, but that is a relief.

I totally geeked out at the cross-sell in the back of the mini-comic.

    Thanks for your review!
