I'm still missing Norton as Banner, but I'm sure I won't mind it in the movie. Hulk's turned out pretty good. Cap's costume looks like a low budget affair for some reason. I swear that's Shockwave's Decepticon building crusher that just flew in for the ending. Hey, actually that was the most awesome looking stuff in Bayformers, so setting that against superheroes seems like a great move. Still, between Bayformers, Battleship, Cowboys and Aliens, and now this, alien space ships in movies are getting very interchangeable.

Marvelousnews (and other sites) have clearer pictures of the upcoming Lego sets. It looks like the identity of Loki's army may be out soon.

They look like Atlantians, and I saw one site where someone claimed if you magnify the bottom left (where it ID's the characters in the set), it says "Atlantian Warrior".

    If that's true then

shouldn't we have heard some casting rumors by now? Namor ought to get more fanfare.

not necessarily, gbagok. if he's in the movie, we still don't know how much screen time he would get. for all we know, it could be some cameo like nick fury had in iron man. jackson's role in that film was kept secret up to the film's release, and even when it came out moviegoers were pretty good at not spoiling the surprise for everyone else.

They sure almost look "Skullish' rather than Atlanteans... but due to his response they're definitely not Skrulls

But just after seeing this I stand possibly corrected....

Wouldn't be funny to see the Marvel fans starting using this whole 'team' silliness. I.E.

Team Cap! Team Hulk! Team Thor! Team Iron Man! Team Hawkeye! Team Widow!

Hey, if 'Twilight', and 'Hunger Games' can do it, so can 'The Avengers'.

someone suggested they are Disir, I'm not at all familiar with them, but marvel fans who are think that's the case.

I read that as well - I looked up the Disir, and that certainly seems like a likely prospect.

The Avengers Lego sets are due out next week, and should hopefully put to rest the question of their identity (since several of the sets come with mini-figures of them, hopefully they'll be labelled.)

Ever wonder how The Avengers would survive The Hunger Games? Well, this fun little article will answer that question.

The super-powered team that makes up the Avengers clan is touted as the "Earth's mightiest heroes." Whether you're a long-time comic book purist or simply dabble in the modern movie adaptations, you're bound to have an inclination to favor one hero or another. This leads me to my hypothetical, imaginative scenario question: If you put the Avengers in a Hunger Games arena, who would survive?

Yes, yes -- I realize the Avengers are all on the same team in real life. Um, real comic book life. But in the interest of I-don't-see-why-not, here's my own take on the question. Formulate your own opinion and do tell!

    Let the games begin!

I know nothing about them outside what I researched just now and they do make sense storywise, more than any other suggestion. as you said we will soon see. I knid of hope they are the Disir, I love when movies introduce very obscure stuff to the mainstream.

I did not know anything till I read your posts and makes sense.
I did not read anything related to Fear Itself either, but based on what some websites said, it has some connections to the Disir and some awaken Serpent, which it could be that mechanical monster snake that is chasing IM at the end of the second trailer.

I kinda wished that they were Atlantheans and at the end of the movie Namor may arise and battle alongside the Avengers to defeat Loki. I would also like Black Widow to be a traitor as in The Ultimates 2.

    The Avengers Movie Talkback Thread

    561809_10150690953025945_613200944_9595729_690444348_n.jpg

And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth’s Mightiest Fanboys got up bright and early to stand outside AMC 25 on the street of 42nd for 3 hours to watch a 2 & 1/2 hour film. On that day we witnessed an epic and brilliant film called…THE AVENGERS.

Oh hello, I didn’t see you sitting there. That’s probably because you’re someplace else, reading this hours after I typed this up. Anyhee, I’m not exactly sure what I am going to write but rest assure NO SPOILERS will be said. I’m just going to act like The Tesseract and spew out tons of energy. Only my energy isn’t made to destroy. It is made of my giddiness. A Gidderact?

Four years ago, Marvel Studios and Paramount pictures released IRON MAN. A wonderful character for those who read the comic book, but considered an unknown/B-Level character who didn’t. It was risky, but with a great script, a charming cast and wonderful leading man, IRON MAN was the start of something even bigger and even riskier….er. I’m amazed in 4 years we’ve gotten IRON MAN 2, THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA and now it has all lead up to THE AVENGERS and let me tell you the journey was worth every second!

Okay, so the film opens up….elsewhere. And it is awesome. Look, I said I wasn’t going to spoil the film, so I will just try to break down how I felt. I love Joss Whedon, but I also get why some people don’t like him. He can be quirky sometimes and not everybody likes quirky, unless you’re Zooey Dechanel. So for the ones who don’t like Joss, all I have to say is, I think you will be won over. It’s Joss, but it’s not. He knows it’s not his characters, he knows other writers and directors have come before him and ultimately he knows a lot is riding on him.

The first quarter is updating us on the characters we love and setting up “The Big Bads” and what they want to do with the blue box thingy. No, not the TARDIS silly, that’s Doctor Who. I mean The Tesseract. Then it’s time for them to assemble…kinda. See, what I love about this film is the journey the characters have taken to this point and that they are still reaching that conclusion throughout the film.

HULK, CAP, IRON MAN, HAWKEYE, THOR, BLACK WIDOW, NICK FURY and AGENT COULSON. Seems like a lot of characters to care about, doesn’t it? Some may think it’s too many, that they will get lost or won’t be as equally important. But they are important and they don’t get lost. They all have an important place. This is a dance and a few times it felt like they were going to slip up, but nope, they kept going and it kept getting better. In the end I was amazed at what I had just seen.

Applause. So many times we all applauded. Because it felt like a dream. I’m sorry, but when Iron Man is battling beside Captain America….how can that not be so cool!?! So many wonderful lines of dialogue, both funny and serious. LOKI….oh, sweet, sweet, amazing Loki. And let me put this next part in caps, because some friends of mine still haven’t been convinced that the film is going to be good and that the trailers aren’t exciting…..THEY HAVEN’T SHOWN YOU ANYTHING!!!!!! OMG!!!!! The stuff we all loved, that we all applauded… ALL NEW! I was so happy! In this day and age of SPOIL EVERYTHING IN THE FIRST TWO MINUTES OR IT LOSES PEOPLES INTERESTS! I love that they aren’t revealing a lot. It’s refreshing that, like most great stories, you the viewer, have to earn the payoff. But at the same time I am not saying that this is a slow burn type of film. THIS FILM HAS SO MUCH ACTION! THIS PERSON FIGHTS THAT PERSON, THEN THIS PERSON FIGHTS THIS PERSON TO FIGHT THIS PERSON! SO MANY-MUCH PEOPLE FIGHTING!!!!! And again, the action starts right from the start and yet STORY wins out! Amazing! The cast? Amazing! Hulk CGI? Amazing! Popcorn? Amazing….ly high in calories, good lord AMC, take it down a notch. A sweet, sweet buttery notch.

Okay, I am going to stop here because again, I really don’t want to spoil anything, but I will say this…

POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW….I don’t think so, but just in case….

the post credits sequence made me jump out of my seat and scream “YEAH!”, along with many others. THIS. HAS. JUST. BEGUN. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I urge you all to ASSEMBLE (okay, we get it Conn!) on MAY 4th and many days after that to see THE AVENGERS!

THE AVENGERS is rated PG-13 based on the fact that you will applaud at least 13 times from the sheer awesomeness that a superhero team film has been made and so well.
