The other factors from the 2003 movie--which should have been important enough to at least discuss with Mr. Blue--never come up again. Then there's Betty, who doesn't act like she's experienced the first movie and doesn't even seem to remember ever seeing Bruce become the Hulk before. I think it resembles a sequel if you don't look at it very closely and don't bother to hold it accountable to any of what happened in Lee's version. But all it shares with the Lee version is the basic set up from the comics with the single added touch of having him hide in South America because that way the audience who isn't looking very closely will think it's a follow up to what they already saw. It played a game with the audience, and it appears to have won with some still thinking of it as a sequel.
maybe I'm confusing something else, doesn't matter much to me wither way. I hope the Avengers will lead to a 3rd hulk movie, but better than the last two. i liked them botht o be honest, but felt each had what the other missed and missed what the other had.

As far as I'm concerned, 'The Incredible Hulk' was A HUGE improvement over Ang Lee's 'Hulk'. The story combines elements from the TV show, and the comics quite well. The Hulk, himself is brought down to A more reasonable size, and he actually fights A worthy adversary in the form of Abomination. Perhaps if the first 'Hulk' movie was more like 'The Incredible Hulk', it probably would've gotten A much better response from the movie going public, but that's just my humble opinion.

Hey, I'm working on an article. Can you guys help me? The article is about which heroes you want to see in the sequel. I already have the list, but who would you cast to play some of them:
    Dr. Strange
    Spider-Woman
    She-Hulk
    Quicksilver
    Scarlet Witch
    Vision
    Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel
    The Wasp

There are others, but I already have ideas for them. Thanks!

    Quicksilver > Anton Yelchin

Scarlet Witch > Emily Blunt or Ashley Greene

    Vision > Doug Jones

Went and saw Avengers last night, was that good after the session i saw it again as my brother in law was at the start of the line to see the following session. Have to say i was really impressed and loved the start of the movie with a small battle scene.

The only disappointment for me and is very minor is i wanted Thor to kick a little bit more butt as being a God and as he did against the frost giants, just wanted a little more rage.

So the question is who will be in the sequel, i know being Marvel they have a huge selection of characters to choose from or will they keep it similar to the avengers series (by the way i havent seen)

i was thinking silver surfer may appear again as Thanos was introduced, so cool about Thanos, where is that infinity gaunlet.

And the hotly anticipated actioner is already shattering box office records overseas. It earned in U.S. dollar estimates: $6.2M in Australia, $3.0 in France, $1.3M in the Philippines, $1.2M in Taiwan, and $800K in New Zealand for a total $12.5 start from the five countries on Wednesday. Two of the nations, Australia and New Zealand, having were holidays: ANZAC Day, so that helped boost box office. Australia’s opening day is the second-highest opening of all time there behind only the final Harry Potter (A$7M). It is also the highest Marvel opening day ever, 214% ahead of Iron Man 2 (A$1.8M Thursday opening) and 136% ahead of The Dark Knight (A$2.5M Thursday opening), and the highest Disney opening day ever for a Disney film. The pic playing in Taiwan is the biggest industry Wednesday opening ever, the biggest opening day of 2012 (173% above Battleship) and the second-biggest opening day for any Marvel film (after only Spider-Man 3). In New Zealand, pic scored highest grossing opening day ever, beating Harrry Potter finale (NZ$975L). The Avengers is the first Marvel film to be marketed and distributed by Disney, so this is great news for the studio.

you're right in my opinion too, but for me what Ang Lee's hulk did better, was show hulk do some more hulky things. the fight with the tanks and helicopters stands out most at the top of my mind, TIH had a moment like that in the park but not to the degree of Lee's.

Who says I don't understand Spanish?

Or just call me when the movie starts and describe everything that goes on as it's happening.

Good picks! I'm definitely using some of them. Someone at the website also suggested Doug Jones as Vision. Megan Fox will come nowhere near my list! Ha ha!

2 am here in Argentina I just came from Avengers premiere.
I'll just going to say this: BEST COMIC SUPER-HERO MOVIE TO DATE! Everything that you've read in a Marvel comic is on the screen.
Best of the movie: The Hulk

I only picked MF since I picture Jessica Drew as a very hot bod brunette bombshell, and I do really don't know what actress can do a semi-good performance but also be in physical fix-to-role conditions. That's why it's hard for me to imagine what actress can fit for Wonder Woman

Went to see it last night and really enjoyed it!
I do prefer Ruffalo as Banner to Norton. I think Norton is a great actor but I just didn't think he suited he the character, in fact I preferred Eric Banner to Norton. Not sure who I prefer out of Eric and Ruffalo though.
When I saw the final battle was in NYC I could help but think I wish they could have gotten permission for Spiderman to have a cameo in it. Just a shot of him swinging in the background and taking out an alien would have been great.

I didn't know who the guy in the post-credits scene was (I had to look it up on line this morning) but my first though when I saw him was 'Thats Quake from NA'

That's okay, R-man. Our phones are always busy due to the high volume of traffic we get down here. I guess I'll have to wait until next week when the movie opens up.

The movie is now opening around the world, but there are still a number of places waiting .
Please remember to use spoiler tags for any plot/character information that isn't already public knowledge. If in doubt, use the tags. Thanks!

But the thread title has "SPOILERS" in it, doesn't that mean we don't have to use the spoiler tags?

Go ahead and discuss spoilers, that's fine, but please use the tags - quite a few users don't have the opportunity to see the film as of now.

Not sure if talking about this would be a spoiler or not, but to be on the safe side...

Avengers 2 won't feature the Silver Surfer since his rights are tied up at Fox with the Fantastic Four. I think the Powers That Be said the Skrull rights are also tied in with FF so they won't be appearing either.

You are correct about the rights.

That's why the Avengers movie used the Chitauri (Ultimate Universe version of the Skrulls).

Just got back from seeing the movie. It is awesome. It is so full of action and humor and I personally think it is the best comic book movie to date.

There were so many moments when I marked out like a fanboy but there was one part in particular which I really hated and I was hoping they wouldn't go through with it.

As there is still a week away until everyone else sees it I will not put any spoilers here because even though there is spoiler tags, if you are anything like me you will still click on it

Saw the movie last night and it was great. Avengers are my favorite superhero-team and I thought this movie captured the essence of Avengers well. Though I can understand why some reviewers have not been as enthusiastic about this movie. I could see it being fairly average to someone who is not a Marvel-fan. But I think Whedon made a superb job in fleshing out as much as can be fleshed out of that many characters in one movie. Rest I will put in Spoilers.

    Pros:
    - Mark Ruffalo was amazing as a Hulk. I loved both Banner and Hulk and to me those two stole the movie.
    - I disliked Natasha Romanoff in IM2, but really liked her in this movie. They brought depth to her character.
    - Thor looked like he was having a rough time in his life, liked that. It can't be easy having to stop your own brother and seeing him fall into a spiral of hate and madness
    - I loved the way Iron Man was kind of an douche in this movie, but at the same time funny and likable
    - And the way Captain America grew into the leader of Avengers was done well in my eyes.
    - Last but not least Hawk-Eye was just awesome. I loved that they kept his being evil - past but with a new twist. And the way he operated on the field made him a believable part of the team.
    - Loki was a sad character and there were moments where I felt redemption could be possible. But then he showed that redemption is not his cup of tea. Yet anyways.
    - Thanos at the end was awesome. Can't wait for A2.

    Cons:
    - I would've preferred Skrulls to the Chitauri. It always saddens me when rights become an issue - especially so when it is inside one universe like Marvel. But, the Chitauri did work although they were a bit generic mass of cannon fodder. It'd been great to have like on Chitauri soldier (Super-Chitauri, har har) to stand out as a character.
    - There were a few moments in the movie which I guess were important for the story but felt a bit off. For example the two heroes-fighting-heroes scenes (Thor vs. Iron Man and whole team fighting in the lab) felt a bit off in my eyes. I can see that they were needed, and I guess in the latter fight Loki's precense had an influence on the level of silliness the fight turned into, but those moments just felt a bit less than they could've been. In some fighting scenes I felt like I was playing Ultimate Alliance (lols). Cap jumping from one overhang (don't know the proper word) to another in the Helicarrier. But, those were minor moments and most of the battle scenes were awesome.
    - Maybe I missed it, but I didn't hear the line "Avengers Assemble!" I hope they are saving it for A2. If it's not in the sequel, then I'll be a sad panda.

So overall the movie was everything I dared to expect and much more. Not perfect but a great start to hopefully a trilogy at the least.

I also saw this movie and really really enjoyed it. The only film leading up to it that I liked was The Incredible Hulk and the rest I found to be boring so I didn't hold much hope for this movie but man am I glad to be wrong.

Oh and the best part of the movie imo

was when Bruce says to Cap "That's my secret Captain, I'm always angry." and instantly transforms into the Hulk and just stops that giant alien dead in its tracks.

that was just so freaking awesome

I totally agree, it's the momentum peak scene of the whole movie. I immediately started clapping and cheering at the screen in that moment like a 10 years old boy.

I may be going to watch it again today
