Fendi, no, that one was in all international releases. Now the version to be released in the US has two post-credits scenes, the one you mentioned and a new one we didn't get outside the US. Not sure if it will be inserted in the international versions after it's shown in the US, I wouldn't count on it, I'd certainly like to see it in the big screen though.

If the rumors and pics on the internet are valid, the extra scene is:

Avengers eating at a fast-foodish restaurant.

On the other hand I don't mind that the extra scene is there, but at the same time it saddens me that they chose to do that. I've read Marvel comics since 80s and spend a lot of money on them each year, and I see all their movies on the opening night. Even the ones that I will not enjoy (=Ghost Rider). I paid 14,50EUR (which is app. 19USD) for the ticket and it sucks to know that there's a scene removed from the movie I saw. I don't understand why they would do that.

    It could be

Loki's trial in Asgard but I doubt it.

Alright, hopefully non of us will spill any beans except for spoilers since I can't wait to know what will happen.

To be fair, I don't think that the scene was removed from overseas prints - rather that the film opened overseas before the additional scene was complete.

It could be a surprise for the State fans who will be "thrilled" with the new twist. I don't think us Comic lover will accept it.

I'm not sure how you mean - from what I understand of the new scene,

it's not really a twist, just a coda of sorts.

Yes, the scene was a last minute addition, not something removed for international release, it was filmed last month right after one of the early screenings in the US.

    That's right.

They're eating shawarmas just after saving the day, before Thor leaves. It's a joke after a comment Iron Man made near the end of the film. There's a leaked pic of the scene, it shows all the Avengers, still in their suits, sitting on a table eating while a lady at the background is cleaning the mess left by Loki's army. Fun stuff, but nothing as important or revealing as the post-credit scene we got to see overseas.

Now, now, you don't want to bring back memories of The Nostalgia Critic's reaction to those 'Avengers', or Al Bundy's reaction to Emma Peal's 'work out video' where she kicks really high.

Anyway, here's something interesting I found about 'The Avengers', and 'The Hunger Games' ticket sales for their midnight showings.

The Avengers is going to be big, but it’s looking less likely that it’s going to beat The Hunger Games.

At least in the early box-office going, and especially tonight at midnight.

With only hours to go until The Avengers‘ long-awaited domestic debut, the Marvel Studios epic has sold out some 1,850 screenings nationwide, according to the advance-ticket sellers Fandango and MovieTickets.com.

At the same point in the run up to its midnight release, The Hunger Games was reported to have sold out more than 4,300 screenings.

The Hunger Games is the year’s top-opening movie, and Hollywood’s third-biggest opener of all-time, with a $152.5 million debut.

Thanks for the info. To me that's a good and perfectly acceptable reason for the scene not being in the international release. And I'm happy they went ahead and added it.

This part made me say "Oh my God.." out loud. "At the AMC Empire Theatre in Manhattan, The Avengers was planning to show on 21 screens at 12:01 AM with contingency plans to play it on all 25 screens if needed. Turns out those extra screens were needed." THAT'S AWESOME.

Just saw The Avengers tonight and i loved it. It had everything - action, small comedy, character development (well, kind of) and it flowed well. Looking forward to the next instalment! Def one for the Blu-Ray collection down the track...

I spent 15 hours in a movie theater yesterday.

I did the Ultimate MArvel Marathon at my local AMC. For $40 I got to see Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and Avengers. I even got a cool pair of Hulk 3D glasses, $10 at the concession stand, a comic book, and some Avengers buttons.

It was a pretty great experience, even though it was so long. I loved getting to see all of those films again, and it really added to the overall experience of seeing Avengers.

And I LOVED Avengers! Such a great flick! Love the mid-credits scene with the big reveal (which I totally called before the movie even started!) And the extra scene added after the credits for the US is just downright silly.

But great stuff! The Hulk was so much fun to watch in this one!

I saw the movie last night! Off the Hook! Amazing!

Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow had some really great parts, with the Hulk particularly stealing the show everytime he shows up (stoping a warbeast with one hand, sucker punching Thor and Loki's EPIC beatdown were hilarious). Black Widow and Hawkeye did a great job of selling me how these normal guys can hang with the big boys during an alien invasion (BW's action heroine type moments and Hawkeye's nasty aim). I do think Cap came off as the worst of the lot. While standard, he didn't impress me as much as the others.

The flying beast carriers reminded me of something from Gears of War/Resistance. I liked Iron Man's "Jonah" strategy.

I was shocked that Gwenyth Paltrow showed up too. Tony and Pepper are going full steam.

I loved the dialogue and interactions aboard the helicarrier. BW totally played Loki. If a BW movie is greenlighted, please get Whedon to direct it.

"Your brother killed 80 people in two days."
    "He's adopted."

Whedon can definitely do team dynamics! Something that I thought was interesting was that the Avengers didn't stay as a team; they only assembled to fight a threat, then returned back to their solo lives, although they were all now friends and allies. Very interesting. I guess we won't have Avengers Manor...but maybe we will have Avengers Tower as was hinted at.

    Can't wait for friggin' Thanos!

Loved the movie, great action, great story. Still, it only gets a 9 out of 10 for not bring Ed Norton back as Bruce Banner. The Hulk was fine, but I didn't like Ruffalo as Banner. It's that simple, and whether you agree with me or not, I don't care. So don't try and convince me otherwise. Norton could have done a much better job acting out the lines they gave to Ruffalo and would have given them more feeling.

Also, I didn't like like Captain America's new uniform. His WWII combat uniform was far cooler in my opinion.

This movie was breathtaking. I loved every minute of it.

The best part about this film was that it was all action. With having the other films as a lead in, it really helped with the story. You didn't need any back story.

Ruffalo was great as Banner. He actually brought something to the character unlike Norton's bland acting.

Tom Hiddleston continues to impress me as Loki. He was pure evil and twisted. I'll admit that when he was announced as getting the role in Thor I was not that happy but I was proven wrong once Thor came out. In the Avengers he once again shines.

The whole argument scene in the lab was awesome! I didn't want it to end.

Here is a pic from the US ONLY end credits scene.
