Thanks for posting these PD! As Always a GREAT video review!

hmm, they look [REALLY] ODD black like that... I guess I better get my purple an red paints ready for some repainting of these. lol

    on side note...

Does anyone know if there has there been any word about if these stands will be a one time matty sale day item? Or will these be available year round like the Grayskull stands?

Also, I am now HIGHLY looking forward to your Slush-Head review.

....an if I gotta I am lookin to "watching" you review the Mighty ....ugh... Spector figure too.

The black rock is perplexing, but in your still shots it looks like it DOES have a (slight) purple wash on it. Is that a trick of the light?

I haven't been that excited about these since we saw them at PowerCon.

You hit pretty much everything I do and do not like about the Grayskull stands (and these, by extension.) They are nice decoration but they are a space hog and they don't actually work that well.

I wish the lava had been sculpted to look more like a crater than a river, as it would have made more sense when they are combined. Also, not fond of the black wash on that part. Orange would have been nicer.

I would LOVE for MOTU to have tiered stands like the one you reviewed. They could make them look like Grayskull walls for the heroes too. And just having standard pegs would be great.

Proper MotUC tiered stands would be an awesome item to have for our figures, Mattel should look into it.

As for the SM stands, i'll still buy some. Maybe customize a few for the Evil Warriors with some purple and leave some black for the Horde.

I just realized they are missing the cool lava detail in the cracks that they had on display at PowerCon too.

I'll still buy a box or two, probably. I do like them for decoration. They are just less exciting than I had hoped for.

Sorry, but these are a failure? If I saw these somewhere displayed loose, I would never think of Snake Mountain. The black makes no sense, might work for a Horde display, but the lava is also poorly placed as your figures will stand on them. I have to wonder what the Horsemen were thinking with the black.

The poor peg design renders these as virtually useless for their intended purpose. What's the purpose of stands if they don't help the figures stand? Can Mattel's design department do anything right? I have too many worthless Grayskull stands to even consider picking any of these up.

I bet Draego-man would look awesome on one of these.....but I can't imagine Skeletor would be thrilled standing in a pool of Lava. Does using two pegs help the figure a little more? It seemed like Stinkor had an easier time standing in the video.

I do not like these. They have many shortcomings. Needlessly rounded where they ought not to be. No lava detail. Black??? For those of you who've been suggesting boycotting an item for some time now...may I suggest these. They aren't worth the money to buy them and then the expensive shipping on top of that. Easy pass.

These are awful, plain and simple. At least the first stands you could place together to make sort of a base with them, but you can't even do that with these. No lava would've been good, purple would've been better. A complete swing and a miss by the horsemen, IMO.

Looks like you get the same number of pegs as with the grayskull stands or do you get a few more. It is sometimes slightly better to use two pegs but doesn't always work either. Then you cannot do the rock formation.

Lava streaks missing ,which I don't like. Being black instead of purple is the worst thing, IMO. And I still wish they had cast these in translucent red/orange plastic instead of painting the lava on. It looks like tomato juice instead of lava.
I think these are pretty bad, sorry to say.

Yes but you run out of pegs if you intend to use them on every figure. I think you only got 10 in the package.

Yeah I just don't get it. It'd be like painting the Grayskull stands white. They missed the most iconic thing about Snake Mountain. I guess people can custom paint these, but you shouldn't have to.

Oh, that's a bummer. You would think they'd include more for that reason!

    Great Review Dan!!!

    Very dissapointing product.

    - Not Snake Mountain painting scheme.
    - Horrible peg system.
    - The hole in the lava breaks the lava effect
    - The pieces dont fit enough (same with Grayskull ones)
    - The pieces dont have a link to interlock (same with Grayskull ones)

Im sorry to say this, but they are a big pass for me.

Thanks for the comprehensive review Dan. I totally agree that the lava pool makes the use of the stands awkward because making anyone stand on lava is just silly, and the fact that you can't put them together to form a lava stream or anything of the sort just stinks of lazy design.

I think I'll probably repaint the lava as a solid cooled black lava flow to avoid having to pose anyone in a way that their foot is burning. :P An orange wash in the cracks might also help. I'm still going to get them though, despite the glaring flaws, because I can customize them. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who doesn't want to go through the through the trouble, though.

It does seem though that the stands aren't completely black. At least in the closeup shots it looks as though there is some dark purple drybrushed on the black rocks. Either that or the camera is distorting the colors a bit. Certainly there is some paint brushed on them.

In TOYGURU'S CANON™, Snake Mountain has been Classicized. The surrounding territory is black. Purple with cracks is hyper anime detail.

Very disappointing product with so many flaws!

No purple wash over it (for the vintage look which classics is supposed to be about) or the red paint in the cracks makes it a huge pass for me. The design is way too awkward with the huge chunk of lava in one corner with an added peg. Not worth my money if the pegs can't even hold the figure well.

Thanks for the review, Dan. Yes, I am kind of disappointed as well: no lava streaks, overall paint job looks bland, pegs that don't seem to hold the figure. I am really wondering what the use of these stands actually is then... I am all for displays, cardboard backdrops, dioramas etc. but these don't seem to do the trick.

Somewhat on a sidenote: can someone explain what these 'tiered stands' are? Thanks.

Gr8 review Dan although these are a pass for me. I liked the recommendation of the WWE stands. Those would be freaking awesome if Mattel could come up w/something along those lines. Space is getting very limited in our collections.
