I prefer not to compare Classics to the stactions. Especially characters like Webstor - his staction is beyond amazing. I wonder what the lighter blue would look like in classics. Perhaps a lighter blue with dark blue muscle shading could have looked great.

How does everyone feel about Webstor dying in 200X? IMO he was only presumed dead. Just like the Sorceress, MYP was WAY too much in its infancy to be killing off such great characters.

Haha! Whilst I love the Classics Webstor and love reading these blogs the excuses for TG's communication fails are becoming funnier and funnier (“just like you remember it.” meaning “like you remembered in your imagination,”). And I wish he'd learn the difference between 'cannon' and 'canon'.

That's a large part of the point, IMO. To set the "record straight" as to what he wishes the "official" version of events to be.

This one also had quite a bit of self-congratulation. I mean, the whole concept of these blogs seems to stem from that, in addition to the above, but this one kind of pushed that envelope to a whole new self-congratulatory level.

Shouldn't Webstor have come with Whiplash/Kobra Khan forearms? They could have used those later one. Why did he have to have Skeletor's???

Those forearms hadn't been tooled yet at that point and probably would have driven the cost of the figure up.

I know, but IF TG had the role out planned so good in advance, it would have been an investment for the year after when Whiplash came out and further figures which could use that forearms! So it is not very logical! They just went cheap! Simple as that.

Webstor remains one of the best figures in the line.

    Nice blog this time.

I sort of agree, but I get the impression more that they were trying to keep the tooling cost as low as possible in order to show the higher-ups how lucrative this tinyx5 line could be. As the demand grew to tinyx4, TG could then add more tooling.

I love this figure as is. And I'm actually glad there was not action feature with the grappling hook because with their QC track record, that's one less thing that can break.

Good blog again. I was really pleased with this figure, but personally I would have preferred him to come with his armour on in the packaging.

Yeah the hooks on my vintage one snapped when I was a kid as well.

I have a feeling your right and had the series continued we would have seen more of Webstor.

Why do they all have to be given 'Real Names' in their bio's? I mean it sounds so lame like they all say around & went "from now on you have to call me HORDAK!!" - "yeah, but I wanna be called 'WEBSTOR'! I don't get it. To me, those WERE their real names! It makes even less sense than He-Man needing a secret identity!

Webster to me is a solid figure that isn't quite one of the "front line hard hitters" of the line, but a great vintage update soundly done, and a good figure to bulk up the Evil Forces with. Great head sculpt and little touches, I agree with many others who have said it's such a shame that this same treatment wasn't given to Clawful (who, IMO, is actually far from an out-and-out bad figure, but there's just so much more they coulda done with him. The final release felt so "by the numbers" and uninspired).

True, though Man-At-Arms does have a "real" name of Duncan stretching way back into early in the original line. I think "real" names can be okay when needed, but sometimes they do feel shoehorned in and I don't think every character needs one.
Then again, with characters of the "xxxx-Man" type, it maybe does give them more credibility. I can't imagine Ram Man's mom named him that Likewise, some characters (such as say, Mekaneck, if they follow the Filmation-style origin story for him) would have predated their name which reflects their character, so a "real" name kinda makes sense. I agree that maybe the likes of WEBstor, a spider-warrior, might not really need one, though.

It is perhaps an attempt to create a "bible" for a potential future movie. TG has his eye on Hollywood I would imagine.

In Roast Gooble # 84, Scott seemed nonplussed about people reading his blogs in such places as here, rather than in the cordoned-off password-protected Matty forum thread where he posts them. Maybe, for even more security, the blogs from here on are being posted invisibly to prevent reposting!
