This could have been the issue as well. But wouldn't Scott have mentioned this to us about the name by now.

Like I said in another thread; Mattel probably went with Vykron because the MOTU theme was initially suppose to include techno elements in it, so Vykron could be short for Viking and Tron... Just a thought.

ok, so if TG decided to change the name, why not mention that right off the bat? Why the coy disguises, no pun intended.

I totally understand the reasoning behind this figure, but I'm still not a big fan of it. There are just so many other figures out there that I think would have made for better exclusives, but that's just me.

    So Vykon=Vikor
Why didn't we use Vykon for Vykron?? Who cares if they sound similar b/c Vykron does as well.

Ofcourse they who want to get the orange one would me mad, but the mainstream fans would be ok cause they got the red/green one. If you ask me the best result would be that SDCC figure would be the same one they sale at Matty afterwards.

No, it isn't your fault, and you did nothing to make him look bad. I'm reading his eyes, mannerisms, body language and he comes off as a spoiled child who always got what he wanted until this one time.

Wow, not a big fan of this figure. I expected a much better figure for the sdcc exclusive.

I think it's a perfect SDCC exclusive. If you are not a die hard fan, it's not a must have unlike all previous SDCC exclusive where we got must have characters like Marlena and Prince Adam.

"Dying of the Light" has nothing to do with "Game of Thrones." Unless Westeros is on a planet called Worlorn. "Dying of the Light" is pure sci-fi. Very different from GoT.

Oh, oops. I've obviously never read his books, but love the show. Guess I misread that. I'm probably blinded by Vykron hate!

Your triple negative has reduced my brain to spoo.

Seriously though, I get what you're saying, but I think a lot of fans have kind of come to expect a really great figure from the SDCC exclusive because we've got one every year. While I totally appreciate the thought process behind making this the exclusive, it's just kind of weird that the anniversary year exclusive will be the one that the fanbase as a whole cares about the least.

Well I for one could do without the extra worry of trying bribe folks to pic me up another must have character like Marlena or Prince Adam this year.
I still do want Vikron as I am a die hard, I think he's a perfect exclusive given the 30th Anniversary and what the figure actually is.
ie. Exactly 30 years ago, one Roger Sweet made some concepts and as a result we have been entertained for 30 years. I don't think that is anything to be hateful or dissapointed about. Yeah, these concpets are not very well thought out unlike Mark Taylors but it's still a great talking point.

I just have to point out that it wasn't exactly 30 years ago. I got He-Man for Christmas in December 1981. Mattel's whole "He-Man started in 1982" thing sort of bugs me. It's like Toy Guru woke up in a cold sweat in the middle of 2011 and was like, "Oh man! We forgot to celebrate He-Man's 30th anniversary! I know! We'll just pretend that He-Man launched in 1982, do the 30th celebration next year, and no one will notice!" I feel slightly gaslighted by the "1982" thing.

I often wondered the same but as far as I was aware, these 3 'He-Man' figures were presented in late 1979-1980, with figures going into production around 1981 and then launched in early 1982.
The toys really hit shelves in 1982 which I why I guess Mattel site that as the launch year. I do question if you really got a figure in 1981 or weather you are remembering it incorrectly.

I am pretty sure this is in the Power and Honor foundation catalog. Can someone confirm that? Emilainoooooo.......

LOL. Are you gaslighting me more? Some very significant events took place in my life in the days before my 5th birthday in January 1982. I got Merman and Battle Cat that day to go along with the He-Man and Castle Grayskull I got for Christmas a few weeks before--in 1981. The memory is very, very clear due to the events before my 5th birthday.

Same story here mate. Pics from Christmas Day 1981 of me holding up He-Man and Beast Man. My family always were "early adopters."

Yeah, it's funny... I always thought MOTU started in 1981 too. But I never questioned Matt-El when they announced that it would be 30 years in 2012, because I just figured I must have been wrong

Surely Matt-El couldn't have got that little detail WRONG???!! Surely?!

Yes, you are right, the space guy was kitbashed from a Boba Fett figure, but still the motivation was to come up with a toy line strong enough to compete with Star Wars.
