Personally, i can't narrow it down to one thing. Mind you, not all things i'd look to change would be negative. There were some positive aspects which i wish i could change so that it'd have lasted much longer.

But the one thing i wish i could change wouldn't be about me per se, but my old man. I wish i had done more or at least had the knowledge to do more so that he'd be around today. Lost him to cancer just as we were establishing a relationship when i was just beginning my journey as an adult. It wasn't one of father to son anymore but adult to adult. Wish he were here today...
Clever you, Mr. Roboto, you're right on target. That's why I started the thread. I felt it might be a way to allow orgers to purge some of their negative experiences.

i don't think i'd change a thing.. because without the knowledge i've learned over the years, being good and bad, it's shaped me to be who I'm today. They say lessons are expensive well, i guess that's why i'm broke, i'm still learning

but if you were to change things, you wouldn't be who you are today.. and personally i'm happy so far

Wow great question. I can't say I would change anything as every mistake/decision I made lead me to where I am now. I would be afraid that the slightest change would ruin what I have today.

Like others the only thing I wish I could change would be the day my brother-in-law was killed. I know it's not really changing anything int my past but it is kind of the same.

I wouldn't have poured my heart out/ shared a poem earlier in this thread (which I have since deleted).

I pour my heart out way too much to people I don't really know. Something I need to work on

I wouldn't have trusted the person I co-signed on a car with 12 years ago, just after I graduated from college.

After nine years, I thought I KNEW her. I thought she was my friend. But she betrayed me and left me holding the bill when she had to move away. Didn't try to arrange anything with me or anything. I got the car back from her eventually, but I have been paying for it ever since. That whole mess has derailed my life--I was paying for a car when I was just starting out. Instead of everything being smooth and planned, it was rough.

If it wasn't for that holding me back so early on, I would probably be in a much more successful position today.

If I could change one thing, I would have been nicer to people when I was younger. There are bad experiences in my life that I would like to change. But surviving them and growing from them has made me who I am today. I would not change that or give up the insights that going through certain experiences has given me.

As a reaction to tough things that happened early in my life, I was kind of a jerk sometimes. If I could do it all again, I would work to build people up, instead of tearing them down.

    Hey brother!!

one thing you have to remember.. talking things out is the greatest way to release what ever beast you have inside.. i know for me i've been writing lyrics for about 15 years and for me writing music is a great way to release stress and whatever you have stored inside to just put on wax and see it from a birds eye view.. and if you share those thoughts with a community such as the org.. good on you, when artists produce or write music they pour their hearts out to the world and they never know the faces that listen to their struggles or progresses, but one thing is for sure, not only does it help the person who wrote the poem or lyric it's also a great source of healing for individuals who can't express themselves in that way..

so never change that brother!!! keep on pluggin away!

I wish I hadn't put 56 THOUSAND dollars cash down on a house 6 months before the housing bubble burst, thus losing my life savings when my property value plummeted from 360,000 to 180,000 bucks. All in a house I don't live in any more or ever will again. Oh well, at least my renters are enjoying it.

Nothing, I've worked hard for where I am in life. I am just now reaping their benefits. No house or big savings, but I am better off than most of my peers and have a better future to look forward to.

Don't worry about that at all. The more we communicate the more we learn about ourselves, others and this world. If everyone was brave enough to share their feelings like that I think we would all feel a lot better about ourselves and others. The world would be a better place!

I also tend to be a little too forthcoming about myself, but it always seems to help weed out those that are worthwhile and those that are not. The people who make fun of others are the ones that are afraid, those that open up to others are brave.

MM, i think there's a saying or quote i'm not exactly sure which but basically it goes: there are times when talking to strangers is better than talking to friends or even family. Why? Because strangers have nothing to judge you by. They'll call it as they see it. By creating this thread, Jack has provided that avenue for us. Whether it's good, bad or whatever we can come here without fear and know more often than not that ppl care.

While I could have said I would done so many things differently, the fact of the matter is I wouldn't be who I am today if I did.

Plus remember Ground Hog Day the movie where Phil couldn't save the homeless man's life? Somethings you just can't change.
