2013 Prices: How Much Are You Willing/Can You Pay? Sub or no?

How Much Can You/Are You Willing To Pay for figures in 2013 given the recent news of possible "dramatic" price increases? And how would that affect you buying a sub or not? You can choose MULTIPLE options to indicate at what prices you would or would not get a sub. If you would not be willing to pay that amount at all for any reason, don't vote for that option.

This thread is either a really good idea, or a really bad idea. Either way, I'm saying I won't pay more than $22 for a sub. Not until Mattel get ethical with their inflated shipping costs.

At this point in time, i'd say a $5 increase max ~ and that's without doubt the worst case scenario based on the total count line-up for the 2013 CES. They did say the 2013 line-up will be a little different to 2012 line-up so we'll see what happens. Hopefully it's not more than a couple of dollars.

    price increases

I won't pay too much more as I'm paying $31 to $37 per figure now, as mattel charges me different amounts for tax and shipping every month which is bull crap. So if say the price goes to $25 per figure I don't think I can afford it.

It depends on the character. I will definitely not be getting a sub so I will buy on a figure to figure basis. Therefore I can't really say how much I would be willing to pay for each toy. If I only buy 3-4 figures a year, then I will probably pay a bit more for each. If it's a character I really really want (like Two-Bad), then there is probably no limit I would pay (if done right and lack of QC problems).

Dammit. Selected the wrong option. I meant to put the $30 DOS price but not getting the sub. I selected the getting the sub option...

I'll continue to sub as long as it doesn't go above $22... After that, we'll just see...
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

If the lineup is as strong as it has been this year (Star Sisters aside), I would still pay $27-30 per figure. My ceiling is pretty high when it comes to characters such as Ram Man, Horde Troopers, Two Bad, Snake Armor He-man, vintage vehicles, etc.

This could be bad, are we setting our own price? Let's just wait and see what they spring on us, remember Mattel can see these posts.

    I'm not overly concerned.

Mattel is not going to set pricing based on polls, for one. I'm sure the pricing has already been figured for next year based on lead times for production, secondly. Plus, I think if anything it's valuable to see what kind of impact rising prices COULD have on subs and if they were thinking of going towards the $30 (I doubt they are) the results already would warn against that.

I'm kinda prepared for $30 per figure in the very near future. Anything less than that and my wallet will be tricked into thinking "hey- they're so cheap!"

Another price hike? This is a joke.

The line has had the same packaging for 3 years. Saves money. Reuse of parts. Saves money. No advertising. Saves money. Toys are made in China. Cheap. Cheap. Cheap. I'm sure there are other cost saving measures in place that we are not aware of.

I'm so glad I'm nearly over this line. I'll get the ones I want when some die hard has a meltdown and blows his collection out for cheap.

I agree. I understand your idealism but you are doing their job here.

If these figures hit 26 for the sub and we don't either get a better idea of what to expect for the year or a changed option for shipping more figures at one time, I will gracefully bow out. Other than DC direct Batman figures and a random NECA figure here and there, this is the only modern action figure line I'm collecting. There are plenty of video games, graphic novels, and vintage toys for me to spend my money on.

$25 no more. And do something about those high shipping prices.

I feel I cheated. But the choices didnt really reflect me.

My situation is that I will buy these figures no matter the price. I am that fan. SO I dont want them to cost more, but the truth is I will buy them no matter what.

Also what confuses my poll answer of 25 sub, will buy sub is that Whether or not I get the sub is dependant on who the Sub Only Figure is. If I dont care about it (like Preternian He-Man) I wont get sub, just buy day of. IF I do (like Wun Dar & Shadow Weaver) I will.

Mind you, I would probably get the sub to save money now that the day of is a different price, but then again maybe not.

So technically I wouldnt want to pay more than 25 a fig on sub, but I'd pay whatever, and buy however, to get the figures.

    I'm certainly an addict.

$25 with shipping is well enough for me, I will not pay more. As it is I may have to hit BBTS for them if the numbers drop further next year for DOS, and they will be more because of the increase....so $25 if I can get them from Matty....if not as I said before, I will pass on everything that isn't.....

    Ram-Man
    Meckanek
    Dragstor
    Mantenna
    Rattlor

    or

    Castaspella

And I may even consider a Filmation Hordak if they make one, otherwise I will be done with the line.
Recent....Foe Men, Karatti & Spirit of Hordak
    Coming....
Wanted....Filmation Hordak & Clawful, Seahawk, Castaspella, Batros & Icer
    Considering....Mosquitor, Leech
    Needed....Dragstor, Mantenna,Two Bad & Attack Trak
