2013 - The Year of Filmation?

Toyguru has been answering some questions again and I found this one interesting:

Mikeyhasthepower: Will There be another filmation Character this year ie new to toy, scorpia or batros. not asking you tell me who. But have u small hint on who it might be male female or purhaps a weapon that the figure comes with just to get us going.
Toyguru: Sorta. It is really 2013 when you will start to see many Filmation characters. By the time we got Filmations rights the 2012 line was already planned out.
    http://forums.mattycollector.com/eve...657#8861038657

    This tells us two things.

    1) This year will "sorta" see another Filmation character (not sure what that means...maybe Light Hope on a male buck or diorama piece?).
    2) We will start to see "many" Filmation characters in 2013.
    3) Mattel is going to put the Filmation license to good use after all.

Now...there has been a rumour floating around that there will be another MOTUC sub line in 2013, like the 30th Anniversary one. Perhaps a Filmation sub line in 2013?

Either way, Filmation characters in 2013! This could mean Batros, Shokoti, Lizard Man, Scorpia, Octavia, Dial-A-Mug, Vultak, Sea Hawk, Madame Razz and Broom, Melog...you name it!

Does that mean will we see less vintage figures (counting PoP and NA as vintage, too)?

If we don't get a Filmation sub line, hopefully it means they're replacing some of the beasts with Filmation stuff.

What Tallstar said. If they don't do a Filmation sub line, we probably will see less characters that were made as toys in the 80's/early 90's. However, there was also talk about Mattel possibly replacing the variant slots with Filmation characters (you know, Battle Armour He-Man, Hurricane Hordak, etc. Those spots).

Well, there aren't many beasts left in the line that don't require 100% tooling that can be easily reused. We are left with Stridor/Nightstalker, Battle Lion/Sleetah/Clawdeen and Arrow/Storm/Sunbeam/Moondance/Crystal Swiftwind.

I can see that Mattel likes the extra doe that the 30th brought in (it did better than DCUC), so a Filmation sub could be a good idea. It's bound to be even more popular than the 30th sub!

I like this idea Tallstar. I'd be all for Filmation figs. in place of the Beasts or even the Quarterly Variants.

Hopefully. (said primarily about vintage motu...). After the 30th vintage heavy year, I think mixing it up would be a good thing for this line in the long run. A separate filmation sub? While I'm not much of a filmation fan, I see how much money there is for Mattel in it. (and yes, I'd buy it...). I would not be surprised whatsoever.
Photog is here! thank you, Mattel!

Now how about some mini-comics love (like Lodar, Geldor, Dakon......)? And Mermista?

    I'm in for more Fimation!

Of course, I'm in for everything. Still, a year boasting Shokoti, Lizard Man, Razz, Scorpia, Sea Hawk, Icer, Fang Man...I could go on, but it'd rock! If there was a sub-line for Filmation, I'd buy it. I'm in love with the 30th sub!
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

Please let it be so. That said, I'm kinda skeptical because it would require a bigger tooling budget for the year.

I hope we start getting Filmation characters, if only to fill in for the dwindling number of MOTU vintage characters that are left. Getting characters and beasts many of us saw in the cartoon that never became figures is probably one of the main ways they'll keep this line going.

YEs yes yes, I agree wholeheartedly. There are only a few vintage figures I'm interested in, and I am actually excited to see more of the POP ladies. But Filmation can fill in some gaps nicely. I actually hope (selfishly of course) that Filmation is not a separate line because I can't afford sooo many figures. And I don't think Mattel can handle producing that many at once. THere have been soooooo many problems this year - it has been by far the worst yet. I think they should scale back on sku's a bit, because of that, because of the price increase, and because I've heard many others who think the line should be scaled back too.

I could even see TG producing stickers of the FILMATION logo for the figures. We could get two years worth of subs out of that cash cow, AT LEAST.
Yeah! I'd like to see a Filmation logo sticker on the packaging. That would be awesome.

Ouch, looks like I won't be getting a sub next year. On the other hand, I'm sure they will be popular enough to extend the life of the line, and that can only be a good thing for everyone.
