He-Man and She-Ra Web Comic Artwork

I'm currently doing my part to celebrate the 30th anniversary of He-Man by creating two new fan comic web series (Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power, respectively) and posting them at my website (see my signature below). I thought I'd share with some of the artwork. I'm certainly not the talented artist most of you are, but this is something I had a blast working on and I'm kind of proud of it.

The characters are modeled to look like the action figures, as my stories are strictly based on the 80s action figure lines. First up, Brown-haired He-Man, Beast Man, and Man-At-Arms.



Next, we have Angella and Bow.



And finally, we have Catra, Double Trouble, and Princess Adora.




If you guys like these, I'll keep posting more artwork as the comics progress.

Oh my lord... I'm laughing my butt off and I haven't even finished it! The way you've combined elements of the toy-line with those Golden Books I'd never read because they looked waaay too Princess-y, it's remarkable. I'm really enjoying it!

Loved Double Trouble's happy expression as she announces the Rebels are attacking...and Catra! Ha - since when has she been such a laugh riot?? "They got blood on your pretty dress! Those scum!" What a catty gal! Interesting how you repainted her as Adora's "sister" of sorts (though Adora clearly isn't comfortable around her).

I'm loving this, and I hope you make more volumes. I'm grinning ear to ear here! Wonder what secrets Leoric is hiding...? Wonder when Hordak will appear...? Wonder how Glimmer figures into this new interpretation...? So many mysteries to solve! Get that 2nd volume finished STAT!

Thanks, I'm glad you like the story. I'm actually several issues ahead as the first eight issues cover the first wave of the toyline (for both my He-Man and She-Ra comics). I didn't want a big gap between issues 8 and 9 so I thought I'd roll them out once a week, but I guess if enough people wanted to read them I'd consider putting them out faster.

I wanted to do something different without straying too far from what people are familiar with, so I decided to base the series strictly on the toy line and try to forget everything else (with a few exceptions). I want to eventually cover the whole line and have it be one big epic story. I spent a lot of time writing the scripts and the back story, so I promise I'm not just winging it and there will be continuity throughout the series.

Hordak will enter the story in issue 2. The first couple of issues for each series deals with setting up the storyline and then we're kind of off to the races after that. Catra and Double Trouble were by far the most fun character to write for and their rivalry will continue throughout the next few issues.

Just read POP volume 2 and I have to say, I'm still enjoying it. You really are having fun with "Dot" and Catra Interesting take on the myth of the Sword of Protection. Were all the clothes in Adora's room Fantastic Fashions? I know you used that line in issue one, and forgot to mention it...

I also get the biggest chuckle out of Swiftwind's slow-motion takeoffs and swoops! Keep them coming!

Yes, the clothing in Adora's closet is the Fantastic Fashions. I was going to have her wear them in each comic, but I couldn't make it work so I just hung them up in the background instead. My goal is to include everything from the toy line if I can - even the pink comb makes an appearance later on.

It took me a few issues to figure out how to portray sudden movement, so for now the horses have to settle for slow motion swoops

I'm going to try this experiment. My Princess of Power comic is the more popular one so I've created a slideshow for the first issue. It's through photobucket and, honestly, it's kind of crummy compared to the pdf version, but I thought I'd put it up for anyone who wants to read it but hasn't downloaded it. Keep in mind this is rescaled and the quality suffers quite a bit. The slideshow has inserted fades between the slides which looks terrible so if you want to skip that, just hit the NEXT button at the top of the screen and you can manually scroll through the images. I've broken the issue up into two parts because it is 158 pages. I still recommend downloading the pdf versions if you want the comics in their best quality, but if not, this will give you a rough idea of what they look like.
