    My Eternia Story!

My brother sent me a picture the other day out of the blue and it was a picture of Eternia in the box. I quickly responded to him What? Where?!!!! He told me it was at a comic shop in Portland and you got to see this thing it's massive. I asked him how much and he said the dude was selling it for $550. So I was like, eh, ain't got the money. He called me yesterday and said he was going back in the shop to see if he could get more info on it. He told me he talked to the guy and it was down to $350 and all the pieces were there, so I got pretty excited and said I would drive to Portland to check it out. On the way he called me again and said he was misinformed and it was now $500. So I think, I'll just pull out $400 cash and do some bargaining. I mean really, $400 for a complete Eternia in the box is a deal.
So I get there and the story seems to change because the guy selling this thing starts to be more honest with me because I mean business. I just walked in the store, shocked by the size of this thing, and said "I want to see that Eternia!" So the dude takes it off the shelf and the snake tower is next to the box. So now it's confirmed it's not sealed. So he get's a blade to cut the tape that was sealed by the previous owner. Now the box has some water damage and is not in the greatest shape however the colors are still very vibrant. I have to get the point across about how big the box alone is. I have never seen this thing in real life so it was completly insane to me. Anyway, we start taking the pieces out of the box checking for damage and missing pieces because now the dude is telling me there are a few missing. So from what I gather from the contents of the box it was missing one of the bows, one of the guns, 2 of the hooks, 2 of the flag stand pieces, the comic and the tracks have a few broken pieces. However, there were a lot of the pieces in plastic bags that looked like they had never been removed. So I'm pretty dissapointed and the guy could tell and I tell him what's missing and broken. So he asks me a fair price and I tell him honestly, it will cost me at least another $250 to complete/repair this. He then told me he'd sell it to me for $350 but that's the lowest he'd go. So I ponder and ponder and decide not to get it because I know how difficult it is to complete an Eternia and being a completest especially for MOTUC, it has driven me insane and this would probably put me over the edge. I will wait until I am rich and just buy a sealed one and be done. I have to admit though, on the way home, I was very impressed and happy I made the trip because the thing was pretty awesome to see with my own eyes.

Awesome story, but sorry to hear it wasn't actually sealed and complete! I am the same way and would have wanted it to be 100% complete. Perchance was the store the Funbox Monster Emporium? My friend Tristan runs that place.

Even at $500 I would have jumped on that thing like it was giving free rides.

It is really a massive playset. Cool that you got to see it in person, not everyone has.
