MOTU Video Contest - 30th Anniversary DVD

    He-Man Fan Video Contest!

    http://www.millcreekent.com/motu/

Get Your Video Included In The Masters of the Universe 30th Anniversary DVD Box Set!

We are commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Masters of the Universe with a NEW Box Set which will include an ALL NEW DOCUMENTARY. We want the world to know just how committed MOTU fans are to these historic characters. We want your fan videos to be including in our commemorative release! Whether it's a home video, footage from conventions or just fans showing off their collections and love of all things MOTU, we want to see it! Below are some technical requirements and suggestions for themes and style. We are going to include as many fan submissions as possible, but don't feel left out if you aren't chosen. If you submit a video meeting our requirements, you will be included in the credits of the film regardless if your submission is used or not. Those chosen will receive a complimentary 30th Anniversary Box Set (contents to be determined) once production is complete.

    Content we are looking for:

    • How you are a MOTU fan today
    • Show your passion (Costumes / Gear / Reenactments)
    • Show your children as the new generation of fans
    • An office or home full of action figures
    • Featured art and other merchandise relating to MOTU
    • Uniqueness, level of fan commitment and quality will be favored.

Not a requirement, but we would like to know these things too:

    • How long have you been a He-Man/Masters fan?
    • First memory of He-Man?
    • How has your passion grown over the past 30 years?
    • Where do you see He-Man in another 30 years?
    • What makes MOTU so special that it has endured over three decades?

    Technical Requirements:

We are looking for good quality video but don't be discouraged if you don't have the latest and greatest camera. We just need to be able to SEE and HEAR what you are showing us. An iPhone video or HD webcam is perfectly acceptable for submission and what we expect from most people. 1280x720p .mp4, .wmv, and .mov are the preferred formats. Other formats may work but if we can't open your file we can't use it.

Your video submission must be under 3 minutes long and your file size must be less than 1 Gigabyte total.

If you can't send a video, feel free to send us stills or even audio! We prefer video but pictures will be used too!

Video submissions are due by June 15th, June 22nd June 29th!

That's pretty cool! It'd be better if they were releasing it on blu ray though…

Oh my goodness!!! I think I'm going to have to take part in this. Dang, I will have to reorganize my room again (I've been working REALLY hard at reorganizing my toy shelves ) so I can get all my 200X variants, vehicles and all the MOTU playsets in my room. Eeek. Lots of work.

I will for sure metion She-Ra in my video, and show off my PoP collection quickly too. There's no He-Man without She-Ra, in my opinion.

I didn't see one either. I need to know how much time we have! I need to find a video camera too...I don't think my digital camera will cut it.

I didn't know we are getting a "Masters of the Universe 30th Anniversary DVD Box Set" It's also stated that it will be huge. What will it have inside?

I asked about the deadline on the Fwoosh forums, from a guy who works in this project (TheGDbatman), he said the deadline is in two weeks, around June 15th.

It'll be a bit difficult given the deadline, but I'm going to try to put something together for this, too. This is SO cool!

Oh no, that's not much time at all! I wish we knew more in advance. I have so much work to do right now. I will certainly try to do a video still, but I don't think I will have enough time to get everything set up. I'm also having battery issues with my camera. So...we'll see.

The contest was made public the same day, it was reported here. But yes, it's not a very long time frame and maybe contest organizers should have made the time frame a little bit longer. Though I think purpose for shorter time is that they don't get completely flooded with submissions, but are probably still getting enough material/submissions.

And it seems that they have now added the deadline on the contest page:
Submissions Must Be Received By June 15th!

Oh...well...at least we knew as soon as it was released, I guess. I was thinking it might have been up there for months! That makes me feel a bit better. I really have to think about what I'm going to do though!

Looking at that Mill Creek link, the images at the top keep rotating between 80s Filmation MOTU, the NA cartoon, and the 200X cartoon. Is this box-set going to include all 3 of those series?

I'd be surprised if it was anything other than the Filmation show. I'm guessing they were just trying to show the different eras of He-Man.

For the 30th Anniversary Set, it says: contents to be determined. Wouldn't it be strange if they did a "Best of" of sorts from MOTU, NA and MYP? I think it will just be a complete MOTU Filmation set, but the "sampler set" might be cool.

I think the site has emphasized that they are looking for life stuff.

They want to know that young kids today like Masters of the Universe.
(so it dosent matter if its about vintage or fresh toy lines)
(..I'd be surprised to learn that kids today like anything)

I just sent my video in. Me and my three sons showed off our collection. They had a lot of fun doing it. I might begin making more videos.

Been trying to upload my 3 minute video, keep pressing the submit button, and nothing happens. I keep reloading the page, choosing my file, and still nothing appears to be happening. My vid has a .MOV file extension with a size of 314 MB (330,274,261 bytes). What gives?

Can't say for sure, but it may be uploading the file, but some browsers may not show the upload progress (if they do it's usually show in the lower left on your browser, either as percentage or visual progress bar). The page itself does not say anything (or change any way) till the file has been uploaded completely and unless you have very fast upload speed, it takes time, even hours to download file that size. Also if you have any script blocking extensions or tools (like noscript or scriptno) in use on your browser, they may block the use of the submit button too.

I sent my submission yesterday and it took 1.5 hours to upload file of 300 MB (I have a very slow upload speed on my connection, 512 kb/s).
