Anyone interestd in a MOTU retail line basted on the DC Comics/Philip Tan Redesigns

I asked this question in the next round of WTFWTK, but figured I would start a dicussion about it. But with new media in the form of the 6 issue He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series from DC Comics, I wonder if the comic was to become a full fledged monthly series, would that be enough media for Mattel to market a retail line based on the redesigns of the characters done by Philip Tan. It`s very different from the 200X line, but it still in it`s own way `hyper anime detail`and different enough to still keep the definitive MOTUC line going. Would you fans be interested in seeing this kind of new retail line. And if Mattel won`t do it, how about seeing some of these redesigned characters come out under the DC Universe Classics line since they fall under the DC comics umbrella. And what about DC Direct. Does anyone know if DC Direct could do a line of MOTU figures based on these redesigns because of DC Comics, or would they need permission from Mattel to do these figures.

I'd be in. I like the designs, I'd just want them to use the MOTUC proportions (some of the he-man drawings he's a little skinny)

I'd have to see more of the designs before I could really given an answer. So far... it's a very weak maybe.

Not for me. Classics is enough. It's the line I always wanted - well, without all the concept stuff and a little more POP/soon-to-come Filmation!

I'm not interested in this, but wouldn't mind if these figures were made outside of MOTUC to bring in new fans.

    Not interested.
    My seller/trader/buyer feedback:
    http://he-man.org/forums/boards/showthread.php?t=195461

MOTUC Most Wanted: Skeletor's Robot Knights, Two-Bad, Horde Troopers, Modulok, Sssqueeze, Tung Lashor, Stridor, Night Stalker, the Battle Ram, and a true, alternate head for Wun-Dar (since he's a "different" character)!

Nope, MOTUC is enough to collect...
Last important characters: Two Bad, Tung Lashor, Squeeze, Modulok, Horde Trooper

    I agree.

Besides are the designs different enough to warrent a figure?

Cause that's the reason why Filmation He-Man hasn't been made. Not enough difference from the vintage figure.

I'd like to see all the focus harnessed into JUST the MOTUC line for now.

Nice idea but sadly will never happen,

Comics are not a media power house, hell it wouldn't surpise me is MOTUC moves more product a month then each issue of the new DC book. Comics don't sell. at best this book will move 20-35K copies is my guess. Mattel won't green light retail on that

Like anything MOTU, if they make it, I'll buy it. However, it's not something I'd hope for or even be really excited about.

I think we haven't seen Filmation He-Man because Mattel just acquired the Filmation rights while 2012 was in full swing. They had to move Horde Prime for Shadow Weaver.

Besides, there are plenty of ways that variant is different from the original figure: darker skin like Buzz-Off, new head, new harness with back scabbard, Filmation Sword and removable sword aloft hand. And that's the tip of the iceberg...

I wouldn't mind a variant of He-Man WAYYYYYYYYYY down the line in the style Alvin Lee did with longer hair, as for the DC mini-series...NO. *I also wouldn't mind the Sorceress from the DC mini as a traveling con exclusive colorway though*.

Now that would be interesting... It could be pretty cool, plus it would in no way interfere with the MATTEL line.

No thanks. And frankly I'll be disgusted if the the comic appears to be centered around creating new variants versus telling solid stories.

    THIS !!!!!!!!!

As for the DC redesigns, like MGM said, I'll have to wait for more detailed look on these. But for the moment, NOT INTERESTED (especially that crappy Sorceress) !
