I still think he should have been 3 seperate distinctive figures/characters. "The Company" ruined this concept because of cost cutting and rationalizing it with a poorly written bio. Each figure should have had it's own sculpted (permanent) boots, heads, shins, wrists, etc.

Having three seperate characters, like The Star Sisters, would have been more dynamic and left more room for story and bio development. Instead we have Vykron: Heroic master of wardrobe and fashion.

I believe the goal was to make it affordable at $30.

The Military outfit on Palace Guard looks awesome!
I'll be displaying it like that for sure!!

Too bad about the Space suit arm guards not fitting that well on arms with fins...
I was thinking of using a TRU Zodac for it...

The Tank-Head looks sillier than I thought. Ugh. Utter garbage.

The "Space-Man" outfit is the worst. I was thinking of using it without the diaper-piece, but that part locks the vest together, making it necessary... I like the helmet though. The rest is custom fodder. If this suit had been done well, this would have been a very cool toy.

I love the barbarian! Still willing to pay $30 just for him & the extras I could use. The tank-armour's gauntlets could look good on Tri-Klops (I'll paint over the stars).

I'm rather torn on Vykron. I love the concept and was willing to pass on what appears to be some sloppy execution until I read the bio, which just doesn't work for me. I can't get it out of my head! Vykron was a loser. Noooo!

On the flip side, if I did get it and just treated Spaceman Vykron as a variant of MOTUC He-Man and his 200X Flight Pack, I'd probably be fine.

The spaceman outfit is the only one I really like.

Why should you have to FIX a figure that you pay big money for, and that should have been fixed from the factory, or in this case the design team, and the factory? This never ceases to amaze me, in this case they have a nice reason and obvious reason to not like this figure, you do...then fine, but don't make it seem like obvious issues shouldn't tick people off, I mean some people are not content paying big money for errors, and poor engineering.
First off, $30 for all you are getting here is not "big Money"; you get 3 different outfits and accessories for a standard figure for only $8.00 more than a regular price. Secondly, not every figure is going to have a bad paint job; its unfortunate that the one that they send Dan had it, but such things to happen. Finally, most of the accessories fit just fine; if I remember correctly, it was only the belt section of the space armor that didn't (presuming all of them are like that, and the one Dan received isn't an anomaly, which is equally plausible), and that has an easy fix as well. Why not mention the really cool engineering that accounts for the armor over the boots, using the fur grooves to hold it on securely? Or how stable the alternate helmets seem to be? These are both very good points in my book, and seem to be overlooked by almost everyone! People concentrate so much on the few negative things that they fail to see all of the good things (yes, this is in fact also a metaphor for life, not just about Vykron and other MOTUC). I love the idea and the execution of Vykron, and am dismayed by all of the negative feedback; though, the positive side of that is that I will likely have no trouble picking up as many Vykrons as I want on the Matty sale after the Con!

In what way was Vykron a loser? Just because he was killed by Gygor? It took one of the He-Men to bring down this beast, so losing to him, after a successful career as a gladiator, certainly does not say loser to me.

People can see the positives, but the negatives have happened quite a few times over the past few months, and to many it's hard to ignore....Stinkor being the most recent. And I realize not all figure will have bad paint, but positioned like they are....some will.

It was the belt section snapping into the chest piece, then the back section of it not closing hardly at all.

And while you may get more with Vykron for the $30, MOTUC in general are big money figures compared to many vintage based toy lines, so in general yes it is big money.

I meant that in jest, or if I didn't, it's perhaps because I can't stand Gygor! Do forgive. From the Vykron bio: "Before a cheering crowd, the evil fighting gorilla ripped Vykron’s body in half." Ouch!

At its price, there's no denying Vykron is decent value by Mattel's pricing standards. I am totally cool with treating Spaceman Vykron as a variant of MOTUC He-Man with a 200X Flight Pack (if only for the color scheme) -- that's his primary value for me. And maybe that he's inspiring me to finally open the NA DVD sets, which is the *major* intangible!

Dan, by any chance could you take a picture of the Space armor on either a Man-At-Arms or Palace Guard body?

Sorry, I mistook your statement. Yeah, Vykron definitely went out memorably, which is probably how he would have wanted it.

Yeah, I have not had any urge to watch the New Adventures; from everything that I've heard, and what little I've seen (excluding the MOTUC), I haven't liked any of it.

I cannot bring myself to watch that show. I have one memory of seeing it as a 4-5 year old and asking my older brother what it was. When he replied "He-Man" my first response "was where's his cat?!"

I never could buy that show as being He-Man and still today have ZERO interest in watching in.

I've tried to keep myself ignorant of much of the storyline and setting of NA (all I know is...space!), but from the DVD covers alone, it's hasn't been high on my priority list. If anything, the MOTUC Flipshot figure makes me curious. I still have quite a bit of Filmation MOTU and POP stuff to get through, and I'm trying not to get to NA before I'm done with those, but (seriously) Spaceman Vykron almost makes me want to.

I can relate to that. I had a similar reaction although I was about twice your age at the time. Now, I'm more than willing to attempt to watch NA with as little bias as possible. There is, after all, a possibility that I look at it in a different light (or in a different 'space' ) as a grown-up. Who knows?

I'll happily leave this abomination to any fan who wants to buy it... I don't like the figure; it looks horrible to me. And usually, I quite like concept figures such as Vikor or Demo-Man. But this one does nothing for me. Plus, it has flaws, so it's a definite pass as far as I'm concerned.

Other than this, awesome (and very long) review, Dan ! I appreciate all the efforts you make to show us the figures.

I just noticed it. but not only does Vykron have the forearms with the "200X Prince Adam gauntlets" but if you look at the "size/scale" of the forearms with the rest of the arm, they are too small... like they are made for a smaller scale figure. Its not SUPER noticeable.. so maybe we are getting a slightly smaller scale buck in works... which would be awesome news for "teen/skinny/slim" characters Like 200X Prince Adam, and the Lizard Man.

I think the barbarian looks fairly decent, but the flight suit is rather awful. The tank look is interesting with some nice details, but the "face" is silly along with the look overall. Definitely only buying one of this set.

As for the potential new He-Man face? I highly doubt it will get used. Why would it? The bio establishes Vykron as a very minor character in the MOTU-verse who has no relation to He-Man and only has an insignificant link to the main storyline.

Wow, that armor is so flimsy and annoying to put on, I think you just saved me money. Of course, I doubt I will even have money to buy this guy anyway, so it might not matter.

Those forearms would look bad on a smaller buck. Doesn't look good for teen-buck adam. If they make a regular sized buck Lizard-Man I may vomit.

yeah I'm all of uniformity in my classics line. I don't care if they design 200x prince adam in the standard buck to be honest...I think a slim buck would look out of place with the rest of the line.

In that case figures like Extendar, Sssqueeze, Modulok, Ram Man, or any of the female characters would look out of place.
