So since the only media we've gotten are the bios and the mini-comics, I'm ignoring everything?

    Gotcha, cool.

Saying "Just ignore it." is letting the "writers" off light for terrible, TERRIBLE, writing. IF we just keep taking it like Oliver Twist asking for more, it's never going to improve.

Now, I know that the real possibility of it actually improving is probably right up there with the folks in Hotel Satan getting a coffee break, but I'm still not going to just say "Please sir, can I have some more."

That rationale never made any sense to me.

I think he's saying ignore the bios rather than wishing death on the line.

Oh, I know that. I was being sarcastic. I agree with the vast majority of what Eldest says...it's just so hard to ignore it.

I'm just frustrated with the way that the "writing" has been handled since Day 1.

To not ignore the bios is to court death.

    This is very disappointing.

Before I say the following, I want to explain again that I was one of the few willing to give The Mighty Spector a fair chance (I said he looked more DC and if he was made in DCUC I would buy him instantly, but thought the "beefy buck" didn't really fit this character's aesthetic). Anyway, even though he doesn't 100% fit in with everything MOTU is about, I do like The Mighty Spector figure and want a second to make UK Horde Prime.

Now to what I want to say:

I'm wondering if Toyguru is "punishing" the He-Man fandom by forcing The Mighty Spector to be extremely important story-wise because of how negatively he was received and it hurt his feelings? I mean, he may be *****ed off at what people said about The Mighty Spector (and some said about him personally) and wants to **** the fans off that ****ed him off!

Check out his use of "haters" in his latest Q&As:

Every figure in 2013 will be a variant of Mighty Spector. I can't wait for Smash Blade Spector myself.

In all seriousness, it is flattering to see fans loving this character enough to ask for variants. None planned right now, but if enough fans want to see this- you never know! Take that haters!

I think The Mighty Spector can be a fun character, but should NOT be heavily focused in the MOTUC bios.

I know TG told us not to worry, that the 30th Anniversary characters would NOT become main characters and are just background characters...and that future MOTU writers could use them if they wanted to. He said that management required these characters to fill in the plot holes in the MOTUC bios. The closest I can find is this:

Quote Originally Posted by Toyguru View Post
When it came time for the MOTUC 30th series, we all had a choice of creating an all new character or going back to our childhood. Geoff and I decided to do characters we created as kids, the Horsemen and Terry went with all new designs.

Management also asked us to use the characters to tie together areas of the MOTUC world and as the bios come out we feel very proud of how it all came together!
His newer comments (and Sir Laser-Lot's bio) seem to make them important, prominent characters. Sir Laser-Lot is a legend of the past and gets PULLED into the future to become the NEW Man-At-Arms. Sir Laser-Lot was not needed to introduce the "He-Ro: Son of He-Man" era. I mean...Evil-Lyn already brought her son into the future. We're OBVIOUSLY getting a figure of him. When do you think he will be living (A: He-Ro: Son of He-Man era).

So...why are the 30th Anniversary figures becoming so "important" to the MOTUC bios? Draego-Man was the best-received 30th Anniversary figure, yet he is the ONLY one that has remained, basically, a nobody in the overall story. What gives?

I mean, the way things seem to be going bio-wise..the line's going to be called "The Mighty Spector and the Masters of the Universe."

Here's a newer comment about the 30th characters from Toyguru:

Anything is possible. I have noted several times that one of the directions from management for the 30th line was to use the new characters to move the brand forward and open up new possiblities for future story lines and figures!

yeah, at some point you just gotta let it go. some of the things in the bios and new mini comics are really annoying and disappointing to me, but it's far less stressful to just ignore it and focus on the figs...hrm... /looks at stinkor ...did i say less stressful?

Um, who the **** is asking for Spector variants? Come on now! Do we really need to ask for more Spector in this line?

Toyguru -- Heroic Master of Thin Skin

    Real Name: Scott Neitlich

Raised in a small trading village on the western slope of the Mystic Mountains, Neitlich learned the ancient art of barter and trade from Sir Matty. At a young age Neitlich proved to be skilled in all things commercial, and ascended through the ranks of Eternia's finest merchants to become head executive of Sir Matty's empire. When Sir Matty was killed by Inflator -- Evil Overlord of Rising Prices -- Neitlich vowed revenge and enlisted the help of The Mighty Spector to reinvent Matty's commercial empire. Armed with tongue in cheek, and always ready for a defensive quip, Neitlich charges into action with thunder punch action to crush Cherry Pickor and his band of non subscribers!

I'm not gonna be very interested in the "Time Wars" but I will say that after reading the bio and from what I've seen thus far of the comic....I decided to bite on Sir Lasor Lot and add him to my Preternian warriors. He'll look fine next to He-Ro and PD He-man on the shelf. However, I still bite on TMS, no matter how important he is. I'll wait for Gwildor and just replace him with all references to TMS. Gwildor should be the one and only time agent!

I don't like SLL mainly because I just don't like time travel, its nice to get a mention of Dare but that doesn't mean I want a figure of him.

The main reason I don't like Spikor's is because I've always seen him as from a race of spiked people not a human fused with spiked armor (especially since seeing that murial in the one MYP episode that people speculated could depict Spikor's people fighting the Mer people). In fact if I ignore that bit and just read from "Banished from his home..." bit onward then its not too bad. I like that he's a blacksmith banished from his people for stealing and the fact that Skeletor recruited him to battle against the Snake Men fits with when he most likely would have been introduced in the MYP series had it continued. Actually Spikor's is not that bad, it's just the "fused with an enchanted suit of spiked armor and a mystic trident" bit I don't like.

Hey! I'm working with the unions for that coffee break. They should get it in about 200-300 millenia. Maybe...

I don't think he is punishing the fans for hating TMS,as much as using his position within the company to make sure his "creation" has a more important role in the line than it should.

You are right, at first those characters were going to be take it or leave it and easy to ignore, then they had to be in the comic to provide shield art, but no more then 2 panels. Remember when Spector was only popping in to save the day? Now TMS and SLL are King He-Man's trusted companions and there are "Time Wars" ...

In the PixelDan PowerCon interview Spector was nr 15, seems like he has worked his way up in the mean time.

In my opinion TG is totally acting out of spite. His failure to score with the fans has bruised his ego so badly that he's going to keep forcing his junk down our throats.

I've been having some interesting discussions with higher ups at Mattel recently and apparently they aren't even aware half these problems are going on so yeah... I think that's a good indicator of how much the "old boys club" pays attention to the current goings on.

That indicative of many large businesses today, imo. As long as there is a profit margin, then who cares? It doesn't seem to matter if the profit margin could be tweaked to be greater than current levels....
