Custom back card art and package ideas.

I think the MotU packages are very nice, but there's room for improvement. I feel they don't include enough art, and MotU is all about art. Why not use hand drawn/painted stones in the front, instead of digital ones?

Mattel should commission artists to make all-new MotU art for their packages and generate a true art collection like they did with the original line!

This is my idea of how MotU Classics cards should look, but I'd be happier with new, but classic styled, art.

I second that notion. I love how you did the the layout of the cardback figures and the artwork/bio. I hope you can do this for all the figures if Mattel won't follow fashion and use your work to improve on there work. Great work brethren.

I'd love to see a new version of the card fronts, as you suggested, with painted art instead of cartoonish renderings.

The bio and art look awesome!!! My only critique (a nitpick really) is that I like how there is a color difference in the names. But overall I like this layout MUCH more than what we have gotten.

If you mean RED for the goodies and BLUE for the baddies, that's right, I think I'll change that since there's no "HEROIC WARRIORS" and "EVIL WARRIORS" titles like in the vintage card. Still I used a font for those that's very similar to the classic one.

The main problem with these is that I don't really have the images in a resolution that is acceptable for a 300dpi card (the resolution in which I worked and is an industry standard), so they look "well" in low res but terrible in my 300dpi original no matter what filter or color balance I apply.

I used the minicomics from "the good old days" site which are the best I found, but still far from acceptable for a respectable work.

I'm inclined to believe that Mattel doesn't have these images in acceptable res either, so that's why I asked for NEW hand drawn art.

PD: For some reason these got darker when I uploaded them. The originals are not so dark, the darkest color is 12-12-12 and much more detail can be seen.

Didn't the old cards have Heroic in blue and Evils in red?? Dunno why they have switched that with the Classics...

Great work Super Amigo!

These are pretty much what I had in mind myself!
I would've used the original card back illustrations.
I do find it odd that Mattel didn't do that.
I also toyed with the idea of having the figures posed crouched like the card backs.

Any plans on tackling the front of the packaging?

I did modify the original designs based on some suggestions I got here and edited the original post with the new images.

Stratos and Faker coming soon!

PD: I also thought about using the original card images, but respected Mattel's choice and have to recognize that the ones chosen for Skelly and Beastie are more dramatic and reflect the characters better. Faker, Startos and Mer-Man will use the original card art though!
