If you could kill off a Simpsons character, who would it be and why?

Personally for me, it would be Helen Lovejoy. I find her extremely annoying. She gossips about everyone and it's people like her is one of the reasons why I don't go to church (there's gossiping women in the church my family goes to). She's always like "Won't somebody please think of the children?" Last time I checked your kid stole money from a church.

A good example of why I hate her with a passion is the episode "Please Homer, Don't Hammer Em" (this is technically one of my least favorite episodes, but I'm using it as an example). Marge is doing something a man would usually do and Homer was taking all of the credit because he was a man (carpentry). Helen Lovejoy basically tells Marge that she should only cook, clean, and please her man and let him do all of the handywork. I wanted to smack this woman in the face. But Marge proves them wrong in the end. This whole episode is so bad. It's both sexist and wrong.

Why couldn't they kill of her instead of Maude Flanders (I actually liked her as she was nice)? Think about it, storylines dealing with a reverend dating (which for some is taboo). I would say more about her, but I might get into trouble.

Anyway, who would yours be and why?

Helen would definitely be a good candidate. I wouldn't mind Mr. Largo - he doesn't bother me but he's barely used for anything.

I like most of the cast though, but I'd agree again Helen wouldn't be missed by me.

Easier for me to pick candidates from Seth McFarlane's shows most of them are pretty unlikeable IMO.

Add another one to the Helen Lovejoy list.

She is just not a likeable character and needs to go.

That is so true. But for me, it would be a list.

Family Guy: Pretty much everyone except for Meg, Stewie (1-3 only), and Brian (seasons 1-3).

Hmmm...that's a tough question. Every Simpson character has a role to play in the Springfield universe. But if I had to make a choice it would be:

    1) Linguo - Robots blowing up is always funny
    2) Frank Grimes - No one that grounded in realism would survive in Springfield
    3) Bleeding Gums Murphy - I hate jazz
    4) Funzo - annoying toys are also funny being destroyed
    5) Dr. Marvin Monroe - his advice is always wrong
    6) Snowball I - it would bring some character development for Lisa

Maggie as it would force them to stop using "she's a baby" as an excuse not to let her grow. *yes I'm dark enough to suggest a fictional baby be killed off.

I haven't watched the show for years but Mr. Burns. Is he still alive? The guy is really old, and has generally been an evil presence, though flip-flops between being evil and kind-hearted a lot. But really, an old guy like that dying wouldn't be unexpected.

Agnes Skinner ... It makes want to punch someone everytime she appears on the screen
Comic Book Guy ... he reminds me at every comic book store jerk owner
Artie Ziff (if he's not dead yet)
Kirk & Luann Van Houten ... they are unbearable

I never knew what happened to Dr Monroe, it was some sort of urban legend that he disappeared and then he had cameo when Marge wrote a book and he was in the line to have
    his copy signed up

Helen Lovejoy, Kirk and Luann Van Houten.

Bleeding Gums Murphy has been dead for close to 20 years.

Personally most of my favorite episodes involved Bart, Lisa, and/or Mr Burns.

I haven't watched the show in years but I get the impression that it's pretty much unchanged from when I last saw it.

I seem to recall Marvin Monroe "died" when they just sort of announced his name in a list of people who had died. No episode, no plot, just thrown in as an aside.

My last experience with Simpsons was the GTA clone Hit & Run game. It was mostly a good game... but also frustratingly hard since the time limits on every mission allowed no room for mistakes. They always gave you maybe 3 seconds more on the clock than the mission required. It was one of those stupid design decisions that ruins otherwise good games.

I remember episode "Special 138th episode" when the trivia question pop up asking "What popular characters have recently died", showing Dr Monroe & Bleeding Gums silhouttes, and then the answer was: "if you said Dr & Bleeding you were wrong since they were never popular".
Although, as I mentioned before, Dr Monroe appeared only once more in the episode of Marge as romantic book writer.
