    Hello from London!

    Hey guys,

I just thought I’d offer a hello to everyone.

I’ve been what is commonly known as a ‘lurker’ on these boards for a good few years now. Especially the last twelve months as my passion for all things He-Man related has taken on a new kind of enthusiasm, not seen since I was a child.

A year ago I decided to begin collecting the Classics line, after doing my best to resist the urge. In the beginning I only planned to pick up the essentials but the more I’ve purchased from eBay, the more I’ve realised that I wouldn’t be satisfied until I had them all. I’ve now reached a point where I need about six more and I’ll be up to date. ( SY-Klone, Roboto, Chief Carnivus, Gygor , Fearless Photog and Zodac). Purchasing them in order of priority and availability.

This is also my first year as a sub holder and for the most part I’m pretty satisfied. It’s convenient to just have them dispatched without remembering to come online on the 15th to get my figures. However I like to have doubles of figures (even though I’m a Mint on Card collector) so it’s not uncommon for me to purchase an extra Horde Prime or Thunder Punch He-man as well as various reissues.

The crown jewel of my Classic figures is the 2008 SDCC King Grayskull, which obviously cost me a small fortune on eBay but was worth the money paid. I was utterly thrilled to get my hands on one of these, as I was begrudgingly resigned to my fate that I had started collecting this line far too late to ever own one. I guess where there is a will, there is a way!

However as I picked up the Classics I decided to branch out along the way. I now have a respectable collection of 200x figures too (also Mint on Card) which include Evil-Lyn, Teela, She-Ra and a boxed 200x Castle Grayskull; which I’ll likely open when I have an adequate display area. I’m embarrassed to say how much I actually paid for Teela, with her rarity making it a truly preposterous amount of money for just one figure. However much like the 2008 King Grayskull, she’s one of those essentials that you just -need- to have, once you decided to heavily commit.

I’m also the proud owner of two (near)complete vintage Castle Grayskulls too. One is actually for my kids, who have gradually grown more appreciative of the franchise; in part because of their curiosity towards my subscription figures that have arrived in the post every month. My youngest son is 3 and he’s always running around with a figure in his hand (not one of mine obviously, rather the hand-me-downs I pass on to them) saying “He-Man, He-Man.” Which makes me both incredibly proud and even more sentimental towards the toys and cartoons I watched with such enjoyment and fascination during my childhood.

I’m also a big fan of the Commemorative Line and own two He-Man and Battle cat box sets, a Skeletor and Panthor box set, various individual figures (all unopened) and the Prince Adam 5-pack (which is incredible!) I also want the 10-Pack really badly, but I’ve yet to see one going for an affordable price just yet.

I don’t have too many vintage figures but I have managed to pick up a Mint on Card Thunder Punch He-Man from the 80’s as well as a carded New Adventures He-Man too (along with Flogg and Hydron) Then there is not forgetting the sticker books, the mini and UK comics, board and card games as well as various books and annuals.

It’s now reached a point where storage is becoming a serious issue and I’m far more selective about what I purchase with my collection spread out over two homes, which when I think about it is pretty ridiculous. If anything, that’s why I’ve wanted to be a member of these forums for so long; as my friends and family all think I’m nuts!

You people are the only ones I feel that will truly understand me. Lol.

One of the more recent items I’ve purchased (but is yet to arrive) is the SDCC 2009 Art Book, however as I live in England, the wait as its delivered from America (where most of you live) is painfully slow. Nevertheless, I know it’ll be worth it, so I’m patient. Though I’m conscious of the criticism the book has received, I’m certain I’ll still love it. (I’ll just try not to think about the cost).

I’m a huge Filmation fan and watched The Secret of The Sword with my kids just a few weeks ago. I still get tremendously excited when Adam turns into He-Man for the first time during that, when fighting the Horde. My children all loved it too. And I suppose, that's what it's really about at the end of the day. Childhood. That said though, I have a growing appreciation for the mini comics and just paid for another bunch off eBay which include 'The Search for Keldor' which I'm excited to read!

Anyway, I’ll wrap this up as I’m gonna watch one of my 200x dvds. Though as you can probably tell, I can talk about He-Man all day.

I realise I could never know as much about He-Man and the Masters of the Universe as some of you, nor could I ever own collections as impressive as others, but I do feel I can make a positive contribution to the community. My love and emotional investment in this franchise runs as deep as anyone else’s.

I guess that’s why I feel like I’m finally where I belong. Really thrilled to be here!

    Hey dude,

    Welcome to the Org.

I noticed you said you have some of the UK comics. In the Publishing section of the main site we have scans of the UK comic for everybody to read, however we are still missing scans of issues 07,18,20 & 26 of the UK Adventure Magazine.
If you have any of these issues or scans of them it would be greatly appreciated if you could upload them to the Org to help complete the site's archive for everybody to enjoy

    Many thanks,
    Matt.

I've gone through most of the rules once or twice already, but will try and read them again, as it's a lot to take in, in one sitting! I think the one I need to be most clear on, is the rule referring to eBay; as it would be convenient to ask questions regarding certain items that are listed. Especially as I'm hoping to purchase a Wonder Bread He-Man one day, but have no idea how to tell between a fake and a legitimate version. I can't imagine it would be too hard to just repaint a standard figure's hair colour. I have a sneaky suspicion that is the case with most of them.

Hey dude! Unfortunately I only have issue 1 of the Adventure Magazine. I have some from the more regular version of the comic however. Off the top of my head, issues 1-10 I think, (they are currently stored away) and then a few more purchased sporadically based on covers that I thought looked cool. I'll certainly keep a look out for any further issues of the Adventure Magazine though, especially the ones you've mentioned. Will let you know if I find anything!

    Regards,
    Jamie

Nephilim, that could be an issue. Most of our sellers are reputable but we do have the occasional bad apple. Usually by looking at the sellers feedback (link below username on the left) helps. Also just use common sense. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

    Happy Hunting!
