I don't think he ever worked for Image, but he does share some "qualities" with some of the lesser artists. Complete lack of storytelling ability, nothing nuanced about his gestures or expressions, a nebulous grasp on anatomy and proportions. And I personally think his work is quite ugly, but that's totally a personal preference.

Will this ever be released in paper form? Not into digital comics.

Just read it and really enjoyed it. It's new, fresh, and something different from what we've had for so long. Was REALLY taken aback by the look of Skeletor and crew.
-I would ASSUME that at some point, DC will put this out as a hardcover first, then softcover. I'm guessing that the digital comics would be in the HC, but not in the SC. I could be wrong though, it depends how well the series does. I wish they released numbers for digital sales like they do comics.
Regarding Sir Laser Lot:
-And I've always dug Howard Porter. Not so much on his JLA run, but on almost everything after that. I really wish the Jonny Quest series that him and Joe Kelly did would've seen the light of day.
I love it when a plan comes together.
i'm glad i'm not alone in the aspects of this comic i didn't enjoy, its means i'm not just being a cranky sob about this.
though i will say i can not believe the whole ohh its new and no matter how crap we should support it and buy buy buy mentality is alive and well, seriously folks you can love a property but still acknowledge the flaws of said property
And so I walk, into the searing light which banishes all darkness, surrendering my face and form to atoms of dust, seeking the true darkness of peace, the cool shadows of eternity and the unknown fate of nothingness

I actually enjoyed this, despite a whole lot of negative comments that I heard. With the exception of the last page with Skeletor and his crew, I thought art was quite nice. I was surprised to see the Beastman's face crushed in from Sir Lazer Lot's laser mace, but then that is a sign of the times. Sir Lazer Lot is rapidly becoming a pretty cool character, in my opinion. I am also pleased with the way they are introducing the 30th anniversary characters into the mythos. Skeletors crew on the last page though left a lot to be disired; Evil Lyn's purple skin was odd, as was her shape. Beast Man with the mohawk and the odd Merman, as well as the pint-sized Trap Jaw were all a little off-putting.
"Bei der macht von Grayskull, Ich habe die Zauberkraft!"
Just now seeing the thread.
What's this about? What's going on?
What is this digital comic?
No spoil-or's on the comic itself please.
(PS:trying to avoid reading the thread)
DC is putting out digital comic supplementary stories focusing on individual MOTU characters every two weekends. Battle Cat and Man-at-Arms will be in upcoming installments, but the story that went on sale TODAY features Sir Laser Lot. It features art by Howard Porter.
The digital series will debut new chapters twice a month on Saturdays. He-Man’s most trusted companion, Battle Cat, stars in the July 14 installment (written by Mike Costa with art by Jheremy Raapack) and the captain of the Eternia guard, Man-At-Arms, takes the spotlight in the July 28 release (written by Kyle Higgins with artwork by Pop Mhan).
Can you point to even one post in this entire thread with that mentality? I've seen people say they like it and it's great to have new comics. I've seen people say they like some aspects and not others. And I've seen people say they didn't like much of anything. I just re-read the thread and I've seen nothing of the sort to support what you're saying.
Remember, just because people like something (or even just parts of something) you don't like doesn't mean they will just accept whatever. They may just like something you do not. And that should be respected along with all the viewpoints of people who don't like things.
Anyway, everyone let's please keep this discussion focused on the comic (the good, the bad and the ugly) and not each other.![]()
Oh, something I wanted to add that I liked about the comic and the glimpse of Preternia post-King Grayskull's demise is that despite his sacrifice, not everything ends up coming up roses right afterwards. I like the idea of a dark dark phase in Eternia's history after "The First Ultimate Battlground" or whatever they're going to refer to it as in this new series. I imagine there'd still be a lot of warring factions and a lot of chaos and that it would be quite some time before things "settled down" and felt safe for the common folks of the land. I wouldn't be opposed to more stories set in this era exploring a Vikor adventure or two, showing us what Moss Man gets up to during this time (a first big battle with Evil Seed would be cool!), what Veena's doing in Castle Grayskull in the years after her husband's death and what enemies she might have to defend the Castle from, etc.
It's going to be neat to see a 24 page story in just two weeks time (SDCC weekend! Woot woot!) centered around Battle Cat, of all things! The juiciest stuff is yet to come... I'm hooked already![]()
Question for the members who regularly visit/use Comixology: How often does the top sellers list get updated?
Well said!!!! I enjoyed this comic because, well, I just enjoyed it! No, I won't blindly say that everything Mattel puts out is good, but I really hate the mentality started above. So, people are going to disagree, that's pretty much assumed all ready. I just don't see where "liking something" makes you a mindless zombie eating and loving whatever Mattel puts out.
I love it when a plan comes together.
I liked it. Art was whatever. Story seems decent. My only complaint is the artist's interpretation of Skeletor's crew. They're so poorly done. It is worth 1.00.
Goat-Man---Goat-Man---Goat-Man

Not too crazy about Skelly, Evil-Lyn or any of the henchmen...
The 30th minicomic art is so much better...

Let me share with some of my impressions:
The cover :Is great, I really liked!
The art : I'm not a big fan of that style, but if you do not count the characters designs, is very good with the coloring and the atmosphere of the story being the highlights in this department.
Th story : it starts very well but it goes low in the end, so it`s average.
Now:
I think maybe what they meant by "Scareglows" is what usually happens when urban legends spread- one person says it's a giant purple ape, the next person says it's a ghost of a fifty foot purple dragon and on and on until the story gets so warped nobody knows what the story is anymore. Either that or there are multiple Scareglows in this continuity which I find odd.
Ah, see I didn't even pick up on there being different artists or writers- I'm not a huge comics person so this stuff is all in either the very simplified "I like it!" or "I don't like it!" category for me as far as the art/writing goes. I have no history with any of the talent behind the new MOTU books so everything I'm going to see is going to be fresh and new for me. I won't be comparing it to "Oh they were so crap on this DC series!" or "His writing ruined Batwoman for me" or whatnot... perhaps I'm lucky not knowing any of the "names" attached to the series. It might be a generalization, but from what I see online it seems hardcore comic fans end up having quite a lot of hangups because of what writers/artists did with previous properties that ends up getting their claws out and ready to tear up whatever it is said writers/artists end up touching as their next project. It doesn't sound fun being a hardcore comics person.
Surely a spoiler isn't a spoiler if it's readily and legally available in the public domain?
A spoiler to me is the revealing of Horde Prime's second head before receiving it in the post or the leaked pages of the mini-comic. This thing has been published.
Not bad start for new MotU comic series. Will wait more already......but Will read it again when I get paper version.
