Happy 10 Year Anniversary 200X!

10 years ago today was the day that I picked up the first 200X figures and reignited my passion for MOTU.

I first saw them on a random trip to He-Man.org in 2001. It was during SDCC 2001. McFarlane's sculptors were relaunching HE-MAN figures! I was thrilled! One of my favorite lines from the 80's was getting the "mature" treatment with added detail and unique sculpts. I didn't care so much for the anime, as I did the sheer amount of detail. He-Man had a pouch for carrying coin or quest items, like some D&D barbarian. Stratos lost his sock feet and had actual toes. Beast Man was built like an ape! Mer-Man regained his cardback head! Skeletor was scary! MAA wore body armor instead of spandex. I couldn't wait to find these guys!

On July 4th, 2002, on a chance trip to a comic book store inside one of the former malls around here, I saw the new figures! I grabbed up He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Stratos, Skeletor and Beast Man. I wanted Mer-Man too, but I heard from the store clerk that he was shortpacked to a case and someone else brought him before I showed up. I wound up getting him from eBay a month or two later for $30, after searching fruitlessly for him.

Did other fans get the figures around the same time in 2002 or did you guys find out about 200X later?

Happy Anniversary 200X, MYP and MVC era!

I actually knew of the He-Man comeback quite early on. I forget how I came across it exactly, but Mattel had a site with only an image of the new 200X He-Man and a "sign up for further developments" type of thing. I was SO PUMPED when I saw him! Unfortunately, I signed up and Mattel NEVER sent an e-mail to me!

So...I knew very early on He-Man was coming back, but I missed when the toys FIRST came out, because I forgot about the "mysterious relaunch."

When the line first started, I was super excited...until I saw the price of the figures! They were $12.99 each in Canada (I believe $7 in the U.S.). They were THE most expensive toy line on the shelves at the time. I wanted them all, but was in high school and could not afford them.

When it was Christmas, I was exchanging gifts with my friends and I told them all I wanted the 200X MOTU figures. Any of them, it didn't matter because I didn't have any.

Well, out of my four friends...only ONE friend actually bought me a gift (I know, ouch...it hurt because we were supposed to be exchanging gifts).

Anyway, my friend bought me the gold, Battle Sound He-Man figure and he came with a VHS. I was SO happy and excited! I LOVED him (the toy...and my friend for buying him for me!

I never, ever saw an Evil-Lyn or Teela in the stores (nor did any of my family or friends...I had them search for me). I started buying all the MOTU figures I saw when the line was starting to go south though. I wanted to support it so it didn't die! I bought all of the Snake variants of characters, Ice Armour Skeletor and He-Man, re-release Zodak, Snake Armour He-Man x2, Peach Mekaneck, Blood Skeletor, etc.

I was really sad when the line disappeared.

Anyway, one thing that was semi-cool for me was when the toys were pretty much non-existent in the US, they were in full swing in Canada. I remember taking pictures of the Snakemen display in Toys R Us and posting it on the .org. People really enjoyed it because they couldn't see it in person. It was like getting the exclusive story or something.

I also collected the Staction figures. Many came from eBay, but I did pay a pretty ridiculous price for Jitsu and possibly Mosquitor from a comic book shop in Hamilton. I have one of the "rare" non-broken ponytail Jitsu stactions! Of course, I opened him up.

The 200X She-Ra figure was one of my favourite moments EVER as a fan. I FREAKED OUT when she was announced. I wasn't really digging the sculpted hair look, and then when Mattel showed off her figure and that she had ROOTED hair in homage to her 80's figures I FREAKED OUT again!

I give Mattel MAJOR props for going with rooted hair for her (and for making her in general, since she never made it to the cartoon). The .org helped a lot of people get her, but I had to go to eBay because the shipping cost was just too much for me. I seriously lucked out somehow. I ended up getting winning her the day of her release for cheaper than she cost at SDCC...and that's with shipping factored in!

I'm also grateful for Val helping the fans get the MYP SDCC exclusive DVD (and blow up sword). That was mighty kind of him. I got both thanks to his generosity.

The funny thing is, I used to peruse the .org for a few years before I joined. What made me join? I was reading a review of the SDCC Keldor action figure. I was sad I didn't have Keldor because he was "the best action figure EVER" at the time (in my opinion). When I was reading the review, at the end the reviewer thanked He-Man.org for hooking him up with a Keldor. I said to myself, I have to join He-Man.org so I don't miss out on something like this ever again!

A few years later, an .org member sold me his capeless Keldor and some other 200X figures and Stactions (inlcuding SDCC King Randor). A year or two after that, he was selling the rest of his collection and Keldor's cape (which he kept for Skeletor). I called dibs on the cape and I ended up getting it too! God, I love the Keldor figure...and SDCC King Randor!

Even though I couldn't watch the show until it came out on DVD (only available on US cable in my area) and my local comic book stores didn't carry the comic except for an issue or two, it was a fantastic time to be a He-Fan.

Yup, I searched everywhere just to get my hands on the new MotU figures which were awesome imo. I first saw the sculpts in a toy magazine which I incidentaly got. Also they were the buzz here on the .org but I think that was after I saw them in the magazine. Anyway, I overpaid a lot just to get my He-Man. Good old times, I can't believe its been 10 years already.

I remember the Toyfare issue that broke the news and revealed Teela and Orko. Man, was I happy!

I'm still loving 200x. I remember seeing them at TRU. I bought Battle Sound He-Man and the variant. Battle Sound Skeletor,He-Man,Skeletor,Beast Man,Stratos,MAA & Mer Man. A very exciting time indeed.

It was a glorious day when I saw MOTU, but then again even sweeter when I saw this re-imagining! It felt like it was being brought up to an adult level and with the creative genius that are the 4H-men we got some scale and detail that let us know this was gonna be a serious line! I remember when i got to meet the Horsemen in Toys R Us Times Square NYC and got the first wave signed by the guys, as these are a prized piece of my collection!

The comic was great as well as the show (sadly Cartoon network screwed with the show's time slot so often you never knew when it was on; therefore you couldn't develop a fan base!) And eventually the poorly designed packing method of putting 5 He-Man per box and one other character really created a collector's buzz, but I'm glad I had someone at the KB Toys next to my previous job call me every time a shipment came in!

It was a great reboot and will always have a place in my heart, and many thanks to all those involved in the project and bringing it back to help lead it to where it is today! Happy 10th!!!

I didn't appreciate it at the time because it was so different. Revisiting it now I have a better respect. Now my son wants some of these toys we will begin our hunt for them. In the mean time I welcome the limited inclusion we've had in the classics and while I'm not a fan of all the designs I now love what the show did for the storyline and franchise as a whole and wish there woulda been more episodes. Happy tenth!

Happy anniversary! I am sad to say I sold my 200X collection about seven years ago. Sometimes I regret it, but I just didn't have the space. I still think of them fondly. Such great figures and an era that added a ton to the MOTU world as a whole.

Love the 200x designs and they are my favourite versions of the characters. I hope at PowerCon this year we get to see a few more 4HM sketches of characters we didn't like we did with Dragstor last year.
I loved the stactions most of all, preferring them over the 200x figures and even the MOTUC figures, wish the 200x staction line could have continued along side the MOTUC, even just one a year at SDCC would be great

The cartoon (and comic) gave us the continuity we always wanted and I wish had been successful enough to play out untill then end of season three (and got the Randor mini-series and the rest of volume three with the comic).

The first time I saw the 200X figures was in a Forbidden Planet catalogue. I immediately went to he-man.org which I had been a lurker on for a while but never felt the need to sign up as there was nothing new to talk about. Once I saw the buzz on forums I signed up and have been here since.
Look the 200x series and they are probably my favourite versions of the characters.

It's strange to think that MYP is 10!

I have fond memories of this series! I remember learning of this show on the site with the trailers especially the Sorceress trailer! Was extremely excited about it's return waiting to catch it in the UK on Toonami.

I think it first aired real early in the morning and staying up to watch and record it on VHS. It was great as the ones on early in the morning (2 or 3am) were always one episode ahead of the daytime shows which was awesome.

The figures I got for my nephews and gave them away in the end. Wish I had kept the Keldor swords. It wasn't until a couple of years ago I bought some of these including vintage colours Sorceress and She-Ra.

The comics I bought on a school trip to NYC. I found them in a comic store and bought every single one! So glad I did get them.

I hope that 200x becomes a solid part of MOTU as it was a great line which finished WAY too soon and should be the basis for a modern revamp should it get another chance.

Me too. I hope all of the good ideas from this era are preserved for all time and are incorporated into the regular story!

That was so cool! I wasn't big on the music in the MYP cartoon and the intro didn't really do much for me, but that's SO COOL! Stuff like that pumps you up when you watch a show. The intro is SO important! I love "Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?" (been watching it on DVD) and the intro is so catchy! You really need that with cartoons.

If Mill Creek ever puts the MYP cartoon on Blu-Ray, I think it would be amazing if they included the intros from the different countries the show played in. The first (non Mill Creek) Carmen Sandiego set did that! I think they have the intro from 13 different countries. They were fun to watch!

Happy Anniversary 200X! Love the cartoon way more than the toys, but it was a great way to bring He-Man back. Back with a fresh story and cool dialogue. Even NEW characters that were introduced were cool, unlike something else we all know...

200X was the best interpretation of He-Man and anyone who disagrees is blinded by nostalgia. So many amazing character designs and interpreted ideas were present and the toy line was awesome. The only drawback is that Mattel said no to more articulation. The cartoon was perfect and I remember staying home on Fridays during college just to watch it. I have a hilarious story involving my first girlfriend and this show which is probably not appropriate lol. Long story short I chose the show over her advances and that memory is forever cemented in my brain as a proud moment. It's a shame this era all ended so abruptly but while it lasted I enjoyed every little bit of it. I would love for it to be resurrected but it will never happen. Mattel knows what's best...

I was in my junior year in college at the time and could only get a 200X He-Man figure. It came with a VHS of "Into the Abyss," a tape I've held on to for the sheer joy of providing me with what was at the time the first I'd seen of the Filmation intro sequence in almost a decade. The figure became my buddy ever since -- it's made it through all the moves (across states!) in my hand luggage, and it's complete.

I'd have to say it was the MYP show which brought me back to MOTU, but not until 2009, when I chanced upon the 1987 movie one Friday night while channel surfing. What had I been doing forgetting of MOTU for so long? I had seen most of the 200X episodes when they aired on Cartoon Network, but I hadn't liked them much at the time. But back then, I had little time to devote to them anyway, and Prince Adam and the transformation sequence had quite turned me off.

By 2009, things were a little different. Plus, I now had a little nephew with whom I was looking to do more fun activities. So, I ordered a couple MOTU DVD sets from Amazon (I started with the 200X and 'Best Of' classics).

The 200X He-Man figure I'd bought at the time the show was released is now in a display cabinet devoted to MOTU, and my nephew and I watch an episode or two every chance we get, since by now we have each episode ever released on DVD, across the three shows.

I am also happy to admit I was terribly wrong about the 200X show when I first saw it. I absolutely *love* it after subsequent viewings. I love the storytelling styles, and I love the details on the figures. (My MOTU figure collection is still primarily 200X -- I bought the rest from eBay and the Org Marketplace a couple years ago, too.)

MYP, you gave us all such a great series, I was so sad when it was cancelled, please continue it or maybe even another revamp it could only get better, bring in the twin sister as well.

New cartoon, new toys, new comics, even video games... those were great times to be a "He-Fan"!
