I can't vote for what effectively is a Teela repaint. So no Illumina for me.

My one vote went to the green demon.

Come on, Shokoti. Even if some hate her, you have to see Mattel isn't playing fair with Illumina! When the official .org poll was up, Mattel forced them to pull Illumina's bio/description completely! Every other character had a description so people could know a bit about who they were voting for. Later, Mattel said it was because they didn't want people confused if they didn't use that story...or something to that effect. The problem is, a lot of the characters' bios differ from era/canon. Especially Delora, who is either Stratos' sister or wife! None of those were forced to be pulled.

Now, in the official Mattel vote, many of the options in this list are well-described and have either LOTS of new tooling or will come with LOTS of accessories. Illumina is described as having 1 accessory and a new head. That's just plain dirty. Whichever character wins this slot should get the EXACT same level of the budget for tooling and accessories. That's fair. Putting Illumina on Female Buck 2.0 and making a new two-piece outfit for her would bring her to 4 new pieces, which is in-line with the majority of characters on that list.

Some may love her because of her creators I guess, but I think too many people write her off that way. I'm not so certain people would be willing to spend so much time campaigning for (and paying a good deal of money for!) a figure if they did not want it.

We knew next to nothing about those characters for 25-30 years, but they were highly regarded and desired by many. They weren't desired because they were created by X person. They were desired because people loved their look, design, colours, accessories, etc.

Although the Evil-Lyn with the 200X outfit and cloak were extremely tempting, I don't care for how they clearly tried to shaft Illumina.
They know people do not want another Teela tunic repaint, why can Evil-Lyn get a new outfit? They need to give her a waist twist, that 1.0 body should be retired. Geldor is so easy to make, I can't imagine they won't get to him.

based on the descriptions Ilumina and Songster are the only ones that have little chance of getting made outside of this poll. BUT they also make them sound TERRIBLY dull. it's definitely a case of "I live by the letter of the law if not the spirit" in regards to being obligated to putting illumina intot he voting, but deciding to cheap out on it as much as they can.

So really Geldor feel like the best figure out of the bunch (followed close by the demon except without his partner it would feel incomplete)

They changed the cover and I never heard anything about her again (until I joined the org).

I think that could be it. I had a similar experience. The comics weren't being carried in my area, but I saw the thread about "The Mysterious Cat Woman" and thought she was beautiful. Everyone was speculating about her name, her purpose, etc. and was excited for the issue when we would learn more...and we all know that issue never came to be. Definitely like the "these toys are COMING SOON!" and then never do.

Definitely. Illumina is exactly what Battleground Lyn is, a Teela buck with a new head. That makes Cloak and Dagger Lyn even more attractive since the description outright says that she will have the 200X tunic, a new head and a cape--the total antithesis of Illumina.

I voted Evil Lyn. But it was tough choice between her and Illumina. Honestly, as long as it is either one of them I'd be happy with the outcome.

I don't buy into the Mattel Conspiracy AT ALL. It's funny, fans were OUTRAGED about the new version of Evil-Lyn we got, absolutely decrying Mattel as cheap pricks for not giving her a new tunic piece. Mattel adds just such a figure to the fan vote and says 'okay, if you guys want it that bad, vote for it and we will make it -- and MAYBE we'll make it if you don't vote for it, we'll see.'

And some fans say "damn Mattel is trying to rig the voting!' It's stupid. We, the fans, have shown legitimate interest in all of these characters. Now Mattel is saying -- pick one. It's not a conspiracy. At all. Hell, they even said Lyn could potentially get made without being voted for. So they're not even saying 'vote for her or she will absolutely never get made.'


That being said, I voted for Green Demon. Since he has like no accessories and only requires a new head sculpt, I'm kinda hoping the 4H would slip an Alcala Power Sword in there.

Yeah, I have to say that this whole Illumina situation sounds like dirty pool to me--everyone else gets new this or new that (including the straight-up Trap Jaw repaint), but a long sought after character gets stuck with the too-freqeuntly-reused-Teela-togs? Not to mention that, as others have pointed out, throwing 'Cloak & Dagger Evil-Lyn' into the mix totally splits the 200X fan vote. But...loads of us suspected they'd do something underhanded like this back when this contest was first announced, didn't we?

As for my own vote, it went to Illumina. If people like Terry H. and Geoff Johns can be honored in this line--people who are practically unknown to this fandom within the context of the property--then, damn it, Val and Emiliano are beyond due for their role. Plus, the censored storyline was truly kick-ass, and that's the one that she'll have in my canon, regardless of the politically-driven, de-powering bio Matty inevitably gives her (like they did with Frosta).

As for the rest... [NB: This all my opinion, and I hope each and every one of these figures--including the ones I say that I don't like--sees the light of day at some point, because I know they have their fans.]

As I've already mentioned I desperately want a C&D Evil-Lyn, with a proper 200X tunic and the fur-lined cloak and hood. However, I won't vote for her because she has a high probability of being made in my opinion.

Crash Landing Glenn is a cool idea, and might bring us closer to the famed Grayskull robot, but is unnecessary in my opinion. Personally, I dig her green spacesuit.

Geldor is a character that I have never understood the appeal of. He's just so boring from a design perspective (again, IMO), and his backstory is nothing to write home about. Nonetheless, I'm sure he'll be made at some point regardless of how he fares in this poll--in fact, given how Matty seemingly prefers a certain style of character, I'm sure he'll be out sooner rather than later.

Mini-Comic Trap Jaw is a along the same lines as Crash Landing Glenn for me. Even though I love the character, I don't have any personal desire to add this look to my collection (though I hope his fans eventually get him). I might like his inclusion in this poll a bit more if he came with something special, but they've said he's even getting the same bio, so why bother?

Songster's an...interesting choice, but not for me. Maybe he could be included in a two-pack with Scrollos one day: 'Narrators of the Universe' or some such thing, LOL! (That being said, I would like a Scrollos one day!)

Camo Khan holds zero appeal for me. He's like the green Trap Jaw in my opinion--just no point to his existence, especially since Matty will no doubt make him a straight up repaint with added Clawful pincers.

Mask of Power Demon might make sense if it came in a two-pack with the purple one, but since it doesn't...why bother?

So, yeah, those are my thoughts on the fan choice options. Like I said, I went with Illumina myself, and hope she's the winner--regardless of the outcome, though, I'm happy for the fans of whomever is selected. I just wish the field had been leveled from the start.
