If the worst happened and the line died...

say the worst happened and the MOTUC line died this year and that was it for MOTUC.

Now a few years pass and they announce a new MOTU line, with new sculpts and stuff.

    1. Would anyone want this considering what happened to the last 2 lines?

    2. Would anyone really want to start the collection over again?

Me personally I would have to say NO to both

I can't foresee ever going for a totally new line. Just too many characters, and we'd end up in the same predicament. Plus it's also a matter of space for collectors.

MOTUC is our last best shot at Masters of the Universe figures the way we know them.

The only MOTU I could foresee buying again would be vintage commemorative re-issues and a continuation of the traditional MOTU. It would be neat to see the Filmation characters in the vintage look if they can't make it to MOTUC.

Not unless each character is a unique sculpt, if not then no.

It all depends on a lot of factors for me. Cost, scale, quality of sculpts, etc.

I tend to replace/upgrade collections. I came to find Classics to be superior (my opinion) to the 200X line in terms of scale, sculpt and quality, so MOTUC has replaced that line in my collection, to the point that I will most likely be selling off the bulk of my 200X soon (I'm keeping stactions, Orko and Skeletor though). I just don't have a need or space to display them.

So a new line would have to be superior to the Classics line for me to start over. Now maybe if they were in the same scale and could be displayed along side Classics I would get some...but it would likely be cherry picking.

Unless it's compatible with the Classics line, I'm not interested. I gave up on Transformers years ago because of constant reboots, and the repetition of Duke, Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander is really cheesing me off over GI Joe.

IF that occurs then i'd only want a new toy line to coincide with a successful Tv series/cartoon/movie

I would cry and not collect He-man ever again unless it was a continueation of this line.

I probably would not buy another MOTU line. A small movie line, yes. If they try another line like MOTUC (all characters, from anywhere)...I doubt it. Too much money to buy them all again and it would just end up the same way: incomplete.

    MOTU mini-mates: 100% yes.

I'd only buy a new line if it was compatible with MOTUC, i.e. if this potential new line used the same molds and was designed by the 4 Horsemen.
I'd probably skip He-Man and Skeletor (unless they are cool new designs) and wait for the characters we didn't get with the current MOTUC line.

In this thread here I'm discussing the possibility of a newly revived MOTUC line after a one- or two-year hiatus, supported by new media (cartoon/movie).

ONly if it was smaller, and designed with support of Vehicles and Playsets.

If it was 'similiar' to MOTUC... then it wouldn't be as GOOD as MOTUC. These figures are the best we'll ever get in this scale with this articulation. I wouldn't start over for that.

Grayskull and a Talon fighter/Attack track??? YEAH, I might get into that!!!

I have a similar outlook to yours. If we get a new movie, the characters will probably look radically different than we've come to know them. It could be even worse if Michael Bay gets involved in the project.

This line is the ultimate MOTU line and as such, these figures should ALWAYS include their 200X parts so that we as fans and collectors can have the ultimate versions of our favorite characters, Fisto, Merman, and Stinkor are the best examples this line has produced. Clawful and Buzz-Off are not.
Jitsu should have had his 200X belt!!!

If it's practical, they should look into ways that will keep the line on life support for a few years (quarterly figures or annual two-packs maybe?) until the economy improves. I still think that is above and beyond the biggest reason this is happening. It costs too much to buy these figures now and the customers are either unemployed, facing unemployment, or otherwise just trying to keep their heads above water. It'll be a shame if we can never get this ball moving again if it stops, but maybe that is simply more inevitable than we had hoped until this week. What a **** follow up week this has been to SDCC, BTW. I feel bipolar.

    No.

I really don't see how they could top this line, so I think this is it for me.

I'll buy He-Man from almost any line/style they make, probably for the rest of my life, but that's about it. I love my Classics collection--it is huge and full and the figures themselves are true works of art, and they seem to have satiated my need for awesome MOTU toys, so yeah, they're it.

Toys, specifically boys action figures, are slowly dying at retail. I am sure at some point Mattel will do something just to keep the property trademarked. The action figures would have to be well made using the same style construction, articulation, and design as well as priced around 20 dollars (considering price for labor is going to double in China in the next few years and oil most likely become cheaper that won't happen) for me to invest again. I will ride this line to its end; after that, for the most part, I am done with MOTU. I miss LEGO, and I made a choice to sacrifice my LEGO budget for the last few years to collector MOTUC. Not to mention that experiences have become my new addiction and not plastic toys.

I would collect another MOTU line if it could beat MOTUC's character roster, articulation, sculpting and options or 200X's designs and sculpting.
    If it can't, forget it.

Not just no but HELL NO. This is my last MoTUC go round for me. I bought every single 200X figure just to have it canceled. I purchased every staction figure only to have them canceled. I have purchased at least 2 of every classic figure (1 for me, 1 for my son, and even 1 of all POP for my daughter) and now it looks like it will be canceled too. Strike 3, I'm out. There are a few simple solutions like pre-orders for cherry pickers and a different distributor than Digital River that fans have been asking for but Mattel with all their business degrees and infinite wisdom have failed to hear the fans. This line has the potential to last for many more years if managed properly but it doesn't look like ToyGuru has the ability to do that. I will be buying my usual 2 subs for 2013 and every year MoTUC remains up and running but after that I'm done. No movie, cartoon series, or comic book will rekindle it. There are too many other toy lines being properly managed for me to waste money on another Masters line that is going to end before it's finished.

Maybe it's time Mattel looked into making this line work as a game series...of course I'm not a gamer so that means nothing to me so ...bah.

If they cancel this line I'm quite done with the property. It's what I did on the loooonggg Marvel Legends hiatus, I didn't buy a single Marvel Universe figure. There was no way I was going to spend about 10 bucks on a smaller version of a figure that I had, horribly painted and horribly articulated.

as I have already said in the first post, I am with those that say this is the end for me.

Actually it already is. The price hike plus the sub thing means I have already quit the line. However I will also not return for any new lines as it costs too much money to keep buying MOTU figures especially when you have to start from the beginning again.

Oh, yeaaaah! I'd buy new commemoratives and vintage-style figures anytime, that's a collection I'd be crazy about having complete.

Nevertheless, a possible next retail MOTU line would definitely be targeted towards children and I believe that it would follow the standards of the 4" scale, as most toylines do nowadays. Therefore, they should be easier to collect and display in less space, while it would be less risky and regretful to play with your children.

No. I could never have enough faith in Mattel to start over again with another MOTU line.

I would, however, buy anything and everything PoP.

Pretty much me here....the only Transformers I will collect here on out are Masterpiece, G1 Re-issues & Classics....I sold off so many Movie & Animated figures it wasn't funny, I was glad I made most of my money back from them.... but here too is my reason why I will only collect MOTUC, and not any other MOTU line except if they offered more Commemorative re-issues....

I only want certain characters, I only have connections with my childhood memories if I have certain characters, and that they look virtually identical to the vintage versions....which is why I love Classics so much, and even the Mini Masters are cool, now that I would collect as well.

But Transformers Classics, are a good attempt, but many don't cut it, and look too different, or don't even have the same names. But the Masterpiece and re-issues offer me those old figures I once had, and the MP offers those figures, nicely updated and executed, enough to spark those memories.

I am a MOTU fan, but not a completist, I just don't understand why many have a hard time separating those two, and see that not everyone wants every figure, regardless of connection to it or not, or the ability and desire to afford and buy them.

So in short, no, unless the new line was like Classics, and the figures looked Vintage.....no.

Interesting question, as this has been on my brain all day.
The answer is a resounding NO. MOTUC has been THE. PERFECT. LINE. For me, personally.
I will not start another action figure collection all over again after this. Once MOTUC is done, I'm done with action figures. I have my classic MOTU, PoP, some NA, some 2002 and a handful of stactions, as well as the complete MOTUC action figure line. That there is an endless assortment of various shelf displays for the next several years to keep me happy and visually entertained. No doubt a future He-Man line will shrink in scale (GI Joe-sized MOTU? That's missing the whole point of MOTU!) and we'll never see the rich assortment of characters ever again. So, no. I don't need Stratos and Man-At-Arms for the 4th time in 30+ years, as well as endless variants of He-Man and Skeletor. Plus, I'll be honest. Mattel has soured the collecting experience quite a bit and it's something I just simply won't go through again in the future. They have me with MOTUC, because I'm already hooked, but this is it. So they better find a way to keep it going, because it's The Last Gasp.

If the sculpts are cool and if it's affordable, I wouldn't think twice. Personally, I'd love to see a new line of realistic re-imaginings, preferably stactions. Something in the vein of the McFarlane monsters

I don't mind a collection being incomplete since I'm not interested in every character and for me MOTU doesn't end with MOTUC.
