Dude if it's dead leave it dead unless you get rid of tg and bring the price back down to reality.
I was wondering if the end of this MOTUC line really has to be the end of MOTUC once and for all.
Mattel invested a lot of money into tooling and still have all the molds for all these re-usable body parts.
Moreover, they of course still ow the rights to this property and will never sell them.
So what if they put the line on hiatus for a year or so and rearranged their business model and then tried to re-launch it?
If all subs go away this year, so will mattcollector.com, a website with an incredibly bad reputation. The end of all subs would likely also mean the end of their business relation with Digital River.
Scott would likely move on to other projects.
Couldn't this in fact be a great chance to improve things in a MOTUC re-launch in 2015 or something like that? Maybe a new movie will come out in 2015 or 2016 and could be supported by a new MOTUUC line based on the old molds and charcter designs by the 4H?
Maybe they could do 2-paks or 3-paks or even waves or 4 or 6 figures. they could try to make it a retail line.
Do you think that this is possible?
After all the investments they have made into the "reusabl body parts" system, Filmation rights etc?
Awesome sticker included!

Nope, don't see it coming back in this format.
nor would I Really WANT it too. MOTU just isn't a great line for 6" scale anymore...
I think it will go the way of Transformers and GI JOe and Reimagine itself in a different scale.... hopefully retail, 3.75 scale with full sized castles and vehicles...
Something that can recapture the SCOPE if not the SCALE of the original line. The lack of vehicles and playsets will always keep this line from being the 'definitive' MOTU for me...
Well it ain't gone yet, but when it does I don't think there will be a chance of it returning. A new toyline, maybe, but I can't say I'll be interested in a 3.75 or smaller line if it came to that.
i wouldn't want a 3.75 line either. I hate that size. I think it is far too small. MOTUC is the perfect size with 200x being acceptable. Anything smaller...no
Once the heat has died down, and the extra figures people have been hoarding start going for less than original retail on eBay (just look at the downfall of the once highly collectable Buffy figures), it's game over.
I'm with you, no smaller MOTU scale like 3.75 or nothing like that. They needto figure out what is going to be of this line because these figures are amazing and its a shame that Mattel would let it die like this...again...![]()
Ya Tengo El Poder!!!!!!
Quite simply, this is one of the finest Vintage based toylines out there, Mattel knows they have money in these figures, it's a shame they have to cost so much now, and the line all depends on a sub to survive, first mistake....the line had almost a full year without a sub, and fans were fine with it...I know some sold out really fast, but PO's could have solved this instead of a sub...
Mattel only gauges line interest once a year, as far as I know many things happen in a years time, and with Mattel and Scott 2012 saw soooo much of this, and fans were put off....if Mattel cared about their product and their fans, they would have some kind of survey with the subs, and for DOS, that told them, hey this figure sucks, or this figure could have sold way more....something other than a once a year crap shoot.
The fact that the subs haven't sold enough in one week regardless of prior year sales at this time, reminds me of the whole Wind Raider, sales being OK thing....Oh my God, we didn't hit the mark in a week....well did you ever think people have had enough lies, evasions, and just plain ****** customer service? And that is all the fault of Mattel and it's public face of interaction, being Scott, way too many arrogant answers, too many evaded questions, too much back peddling....and just from one guy....JUST BE ****ING HONEST FOR ONCE!!!!!, I mean that's all we really want, don't lie to our faces and think we're stupid enough to believe you, but I know for some reason some take everything that is said, and believe it, and make it God, only when it gets taken back to make excuses and make it seem like the others who are not Lemmings seem stupid because we "Misread" or "That's business" to hell with that, that is a business that is now killing off it's own lines....Mattycollector will fade into internet history if MOTUC dies, Watchmen & DCU won't be enough incentive to keep paying DR for their ****** work....And good luck finding another brand that will have the fan support that MOTUC has to fill it's shoes....and that the fans will eat tons of crap crackers just to suffer through DR and Mattel like MOTUC fans have done.
There is still 2 weeks and 2 days to get more subs in, time will tell, And I honestly do hope for the best....because I really am thinking of buying my first and possibly only sub for 2013, just to try to help out, but I know I can't do it alone....even though I can't believe I am actually considering it in the first place.
Recent....Foe Men, Karatti & Spirit of Hordak
Coming....
Wanted....Filmation Hordak & Clawful, Seahawk, Castaspella, Batros & Icer
Considering....Mosquitor, Leech
Needed....Dragstor, Mantenna,Two Bad & Attack Trak
If the line dies, we might get SDCC exclusives to carry on the legacy for a little while, possibly filling in the ranks for which characters got left behind. Hopefully it doesn't come to that
