Thread for those that will commit to multiple subs...

Since it has come to this, I wanted to create a thread to invite those that do not intend to buy a sub for whatever reason (cherry picking, finances, whatever... let's not judge here) to connect with those of us that do have means and have purchased a sub and may be willing to pick up another sub to sell of figures on a per-release basis. What I mean by this is, you're willing to purchase an additional sub if you know that a fellow Orger would buy a given figure from you to help recoup those costs.

I'd do it if I could get enough people to cherry pick from me so that I didn't have to sit with two of EVERY figure from 2013. What doesn't sell, I could throw on eBay or give to my son or daughter (who both love these things).

If this thread takes off, I would suggest posting something like, I ____ will buy 1 extra sub (please sign up to show interest in buying this figure from me) -- kinda like a pre-order, but amongst friends.

    I'll start...

I CptSpandex will buy 1 extra sub (please sign below if you would be willing to purchase this figure from me at cost + full shipping -- I need no profit here, just the satisfaction of knowing the line will continue):

    2013 lineup:

    January
    1. Netossa
    2. Ram Man

    February
    1. Jitsu

    March
    1. Fang Man
    2. King He-Man

    April
    May
    June
    July
    August
    September
    October
    November
    December

EDIT: Mods if this idea takes off, please consider pinning or posting on the front page to promote it. Also, feel free to title it better (i.e. Thread for those that will buy multiple subs and share). We gotta do something.

EDIT2: It would also be helpful if TG would keep us updated how many he is short as we close in on the deadline.

This is a great idea. I would be willing to buy a second subscription as well to help out those that still want to buy individual items.

Awesome idea, but I think there's one thing you should clarify; If someone signs up for, let's say Jitsu, are you saying that they will pay:

A.) $25 plus shipping to them

    or

B.) $25 plus the tax and shipping you were charged plus shipping to them

    ?

I only bring this up because I've done a similar thing on a few figures and wasn't crystal clear with my buyer, and they thought I meant A.) when I meant B.), and neither of us ended up too happy.

I hadn't thought of the double shipping issue at all...

Good point Mern-Ra. In my haste to get this posted, I was light on details.

I imagine that it would have to be B. I can't imagine many people would be willing to lose money for this. But I guess if someone is feeling generous, they could mention that too. Details would need to be fine tuned. Discussion on those details would be helpful here to.

EDIT: I suppose if you get contact information and really build some trust with a person here (again, this would be a place for us to come together) then you could order the sub and see if one could be shipped to them (or even create a new account) and then you each could mutually agree to split the cost of having them send the ones they do not want to you or you could incur all the cost, etc. I'm sure there are many ways to do it, but we need to get some interest in here as well as some ideas on how to make this "go".

EDIT2: Maybe we add in our locations as well, so that we can find Orgers locally that can come together and allow local pick up.

This thread is a great idea!

I would love a King He-Man at cost plus shipping if anyone is willing to ship to the UK!

    Thanks

I would be willing to buy multiple subs for the cost of the figure + shipping costs to me + tax + shipping costs to seller (I don't know about international shipping- why are people hesitant to sell internationally?) OR I'd be willing to sell locally in the Chicago area.

I have a thread going trying to get some specifics down...logistics if you will

Be ready for the super mods to swoop in and move this to the Market place....

Good idea for those that can do it....I myself find.....myself thinking about a sub....but for 2 reasons, the layout seems affordable for once, and it may help the line go one more year, and possibly get the last of the figures I want in 2014....

    It's surely a conundrum....for sure.....I really need more sleep....
Recent....Foe Men, Karatti & Spirit of Hordak
    Coming....
Wanted....Filmation Hordak & Clawful, Seahawk, Castaspella, Batros & Icer
    Considering....Mosquitor, Leech
    Needed....Dragstor, Mantenna,Two Bad & Attack Trak

I'm already doubling my sub total to four just for extra support...I would let someone cherry pick off of one or even two of them if interested and I'll deal with the extra on the secondary market.

In a similar vein, if there is anyone that wants to buy a sub but does not want the PoP characters, I will commit to buying whatever PoP releases end up in the sub from you. (One person only, please. I already have my own sub to contend with, and I'm not made of money )

This good. This is the type of discussion we need... I have no problems shipping to someone internationally, as long as they are willing to pay the shipping to get it to them.

Hmm, interesting idea! The only problem I can see is that you'd have to get commitments from several members to afford getting one extra sub. It also leaves us with the Sight Unseen problem. People can only cherry pick up to March but after that, it's all a gamble. Who's gonna commit to buy, say, October's figure and hope that it's going to be a desired figure?

I'd propose a different approach, aimed to help our fellow international collectors. It seems most who would buy full subs aren't willing to do so this year with the significant shipping hike that doesn't even guarantee a refund or replacement if the package gets lost. This shipping issue is the main deterrent for international customers...So why not offer a domestic solution? For example, I'm pretty sure that I can ship a package to the UK faster, cheaper, and more directly than Matty. We could pair up with an international buyer who agrees to pay for the full sub with only the extra international shipping as an added expense. To make shipping more manageable, special arrangements can be made. Something like sending out the figures in quarterly shipments during the year could make packages cheaper to send out and give buyers more value. Even something simple like sending the figures loose (For non-MOC collectors) can make for significant savings!

It's a slightly elaborate plan that requires some work but, realistically, we'd only need to do this for a couple of years until the factions are complete and the line reaches its natural end. IMO, this is better than looking back on MOTUC and saying, "If only they got out those last 40 figures!" This would be a great way of showing Mattel the significant impact that international buyers make, too!

This forum has shown me that MOTU lives on, despite the lack of media attention that's the lifeline of corporate commitment, through the sheer dedication and passion of its fans. If we help each other out, as a community of fellow collectors, then not even Mattel's corporate mismanaging will be able to stop MOTUC from being the most beloved toy line of all time!

Of course. I fully appreciate at at cost = figure cost + shipping and taxes from Mattel to sub holder + shipping from sub holder.

I've bought a few MOTUC figures from the marketplace and the sellers have always said laid out the various shipping options and costs and we've gone from there. Never had any issues with lost packages and the tracked rates are generally much better than Mattel's!

Another way the cherry pickers if we want to keep calling that??? What they can do, is ask the original double sub holder to hold all of said figures at their house until they have a bunch and then ship them all at once, this way it's a save on the re-shipping it to them, almost like a mini-pile of loot feature. Because theoretically picture this

(jeff buys 3 subs, 1 for himself, 1 for Steve, and 1 for Kenny)
Jeff wants everything cause he got the original sub, Steve wants Netossa, Jitsu, Ram-man and Fang-man, Kenny wants King-He-man, And Netossa, why he doesn't want Ram-man i have no idea he's crazy!!!)

So Jeff holds said figures 3 netossa's and three ram mans 180 for them retail with tax included add the 20 for shipping it's 200. So Jeff divides the shipping by 3 say 7 each for shipping to Jeff from Matty. So Steve ends up paying upfront 67.00 and Kenny is paying 34 just for netossa. So jeff is recouping 101.00 of the 200. He is left with a netossa and 2 Ram-Mans for himself. So 85 add tax to Jeffs figures say 8 bucks 93, and add the 7 shipping Jeff has to pay and there is the hundred dollars Jeff is paying for three figures. He could easily flip the one Ram-Man on Ebay for 50 minimum, so he paying 50 with tax and shipping for Netossa and Ram Man.

Now here is were it gets interesting, Kenny only wants King He-man and Netossa, so he's paying 34 already for Netossa before shipping and then King He-man will be around the same. So we will say Kenny is at two figures for 68 total then say Jeff holds the two figures till King-He-man gets to him. Now Jeff must ship the two figures, cheapest route parcel post say 12 dollars so now Kenney is paying 40 each for Netossa and King he-man each.

Steve is paying 105 plus tax for these figures so say 114. Then add his three month shipping at 7 bucks each. 135 for all four figures. Than Jeff must ship all four figures to steve, add 15 for that. Steve is now paying 150 for 4 figures. So steve is paying 37.50 per figure. Obviously the more you want and the more Jeff saves them, is most cost effective for everyone.

I guess the reason I placed that scene before you all is to comprehend the logistics and possible snafu's you could run into. Also lets not forget none of them want the 75.00 fighting foe man pack, so poor jeff must now put up all 3 fighting foe men packs on ebay. It is a great idea that I personally want to be on board with someone on here but it's something that must be given plenty of thought by the initial buyer.

I was starting to loose hope on having that King He-man, until I read this thread. I want the line to continue, but I'm not really into buying all the figures.

So, yes, I am more than willing to pay anyone's subscription as long as I get a King He-man complete with maps and Comic ($25+Tax+Shipping).

All I want so far is a Ram Man...possibly 1 more to open. I can't see asking an orger to get a whole sub for just 1 figure for me. But this is a beauty of an idea

I'm going to be purchasing even more subs and selling them off. If I can help push the line forward and, ultimately, make a small profit then putting a lot of money upfront isn't a big deal for me. I will have 2 of every product for sale and a 3rd of those figures I don't give to my nephew (like POP and obscure).

Just to add something. Im not sure if Im getting a sub, but I might. But maybe we can get people to group. If anyone here is florida was getting a sub, I would be willing to buy a few figure, most likely all the figures (sorry not a pop fan) and some of the beast. If people posted they were getting and marked down where they live, like just the state, then others cant pm them back saying I live close, that way people can work it out.

Please be aware that for those of you asking for Ram-man and King He-man, you may be asked to pay a premium. Subscribers may take a loss on the less popular items (ie - FFM/Vehicle pilots 3-pack) and will need to offset that with higher prices on the more popular figures.
