castle interior diorama wip

hey! i've been mia for too long. this is one thing i've been working on for a while. it was inspired and expanded from the exclusive dungeon base i made for last years german motu con.

i've wanted to share this for months, but wanted to wait till i had all the basic structure together.

please lmk what you all think. thanks


the lower right corner will have pegs to hang weapons.


here i'm using printed stand-ins for details i intend to add in 3D later, and a lovely chair i borrowed till i build a throne.


this is intended to be a cut-away view of part of the castle, so this is an exterior wall with vines.

i'm so pleased with the comments so far. thank you so much. i too remember that awesome feeling the original castle gave me as a child, and i wanted to really bring it to life and add some of my own ideas and re-interpretation. this thing is huge, as you can see, but i honestly wish i could have made it even larger. the nice thing about it though, is that i can always expand it... it has no jaw bridge, which i know is so important to the exterior of the castle... but my diorama has no face or front, so working in the concept of an opening just didn't seem necessary or practical.

yes, steve is right, currently this is only placed together. there are 19 peices (so far) but nothing has been permanantly attached together. if there is enough interest, i have designed it to be replicated. time will tell.. feel free to contact me. for now i'm just having fun making it.

it's mostly foam board at the moment, the stone walls have a layer of tile that was then carved and textured for the look i wanted. i'm having fun being inventive and looking at things in a creative way. example, the stairway collumn is made of simply orange juice bottle caps. from the back, the diorama is mostly open and hollow. i'll post pics of that when i have updates.

in order to mold and cast something as big as this, i would need enough reliable backers to make the investment cost effective. that's really as far as i can discuss it publicly. for now this is just a one of a kind custom project. anything is possible in the future, but i can't promise anything just yet.
