    Answers to WTFWTK 2.83!

Mattel has once again provided answers to your questions.
Thanks again to them for taking the time to answer these!
Check out their answers to your Round 83 questions!

This round of questions were selected by Firefly.
Thanks to those fans for their help!

    -------------------

    1. Neo: Not trying to beat a dead horse here but the new comic introduces new redesigns for the characters. Mattel previously stated they wanted a unified look for the masters characters, which was a reason to exclude grizzlors extra head and the reason for a specific look in the styleguide. So I really want to understand why these new comic redesigns are okay.

There is one unified look for the current Classics toy line. New forms of entertainment like comics or movies or whatever have the creative freedom to explore new looks as they see fit.

    2. Niki: In the second POG minicomic on page 7 in the last panel there is a character who resembles Calix from the MYP cartoon. Is that him or is it a new character?

    That is indeed Calix.

    3. Tundra Torque: With regards to the toy engineering, could anything be done for future beasts with wings to have the wings snap in easier? It is very difficult to attach wings to Swift Wind and the Griffin.

We will pass this request to engineering for future figures with wings. No problem!

    4. Kevenn: When discussions for Mantenna take place, is it possible that he can come with two sets of upper body armors - one to reflect his vintage action figure in red & orange, and the other to re-create his Filmation look in black and purple?

Certainly a cool idea which like the above comment we are happy to pass along for when and if we get to him.

    5. wundarwarrior: Does Zodak's brother Zeelar have a place in the Classics continuity? I don't believe he is mentioned in the bios. If so did he get eaten by Hssss? Also, he would be an easy figure to produce and an appropriate figure to put an unmasked Zodak head with.

No plans for a Zeelar figure right now but you never know what the future will hold. He isn't super high on the "get to list" but not off the table either.

Yay, my question was selected. the answer is a bit unsatisfactory though as it was said that there won't be a separate line, or other work in the 200x style bacause the Mattel didn't want to confuse their customers. This is a bit contradictory IMO.

Umm? It made perfect sense to me, these designs are not figures in the Classics line but a licensed comic book and has zero to do with the Classic line.

The toyline appearance has nothing to do with other media outings, in other words, the toys have their own unified look, but any comics, TV shows, Movies can be their own thing, Classics is only the toyline, not the represented look for everything MOTU.

My answer was chosen and answered straight forward, i´m surprised and thrilled, so Calix is a mini comic character and is not forgotten. YEAH!

But all the answers are very direct and clear, i like that!

I'm happy with the answer to my question. If there are beasts or figures with wings, I hope that the wings are able to snap in easier. I had a hard time with both Swiftwind and the Griffin.

If Strobo is the "travelling figure" for 2013, I think Zeelar would be a good choice for the 2014 travelling figure. Like Strobo, he would be an easy figure to produce.

I understood the answer perfectly. But a while back when asked about if another (staction) line could exist next to the classics line Scott's answer was that the basic design of the specific character would be as it was in the classics line. I think that question was answered on an episode of RGD.

I found that if you make the peg straight with wing instead of the 90° angle they ship in, the snap in very easily. I tried when they were bent and struggled as well. After straightening the joint they went right in. Maybe I was just fortunate though.

I liked the answer to your question too!!!

Quite frankly I like the answers to ALL of 3-5's questions... I'd just like to make the observation... That over on Matty's forums ALL the answers are SOME variation of...

"First we have to see if there IS a 2013 line... KEEP BUYING SUBS!!!!"

Which... honestly could have applied to ANY of those questions... the fact that their back to 'normal' answers is VERY encouraging

    REALLY?!?!?!

Do people actually WANT this guy? His only purpose to die... It's like crossing your fingers for an uncle ben toy... or Thomas and Martha Wayne... They aren't REAL characters... they are plot devices

There are a LOT cooler characters on the lists before I hope they delve into 'Victim #7'' varients

Does this mean Obi Wan Kenobi was not a real character in the first Star Wars film? Or how about Saurod from the 1987 MOTU movie? The Director of that film said he created Saurod so he could kill off a character. That doesn't make his action figure any less cool in my eyes.

    YEP...

Obi wan at least DID stuff before he died... As did Saurod. Obiwan was quite the presence AFTER he died too And at the very least they unique-ish characters... Zeelar will basically be ANOTHER Zodak(c).

Seriously...We have enough Zodac's already... if they want to give us a character who's only purpose is to Die... go for Calix

But really, I prefer the characters who have open ended storylines... not people who died before the story began to give ANOTHER character motivation... And certainly not for $27... In a sub based system...

If he was a traveling con character... I'd retract any objections

uncle ben has had multiple storylines in flashback, alternate realities, magic birthday wishes and of course the ultimate version where he takes quite a few issues to get shot

thomas wayne has had even more storylines he even met jor-el once!

just because a character is dead does not mean theres no stories that can be told!

Thanks for choosing my question. I was thrilled to be able to pass along the idea of the option of creating the Filmation look for Mantenna.
