Since I'm not a MOC collector, I wouldn't mind but I would like to at least get a bio card. I would gladly sacrifice some second heads or extra accessories for more figures though.

I'd be fine with it, the packaging gets thrown away anyway.

I say keep the packaging. Creative idea, though.

As a loose collector, I'd be fine with getting rid of packaging if it meant more figures. They could keep the bios going online. There are plenty of MOC collectors who wouldn't dig this AT ALL though so, for their sake, it's probably not worth getting rid of the packaging and I doubt it would result in more figures anyway.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but hasn't Scott told us that removing the packaging wouldn't make a noticeable difference?

This topic gets brought up every now and then, but in all honesty it's kinda ridiculous.

IF any thing all you'd be doing is causing more harm then good and wouldn't be saving any thing as you'd loose at least half of the customers funding the line to begin with.

I'm always surprised to see how many people don't realize how many MOC there are and how vital they are to the line.

Sorry, but it's never gonna happen.

I think Scott has already said this wouldn't be the kind of cost-saving change we think it is. Packaging will not change, and it's better that way. Too much potential for losing customers that the savings will not mitigate.

    This was from February 2012:

    4. masterenglish: Many fans are concerned about the new MOTUC white mailer boxes being way too snug and damaging the packaging for mint-on-card collectors. Is this new mailer a permanent change, or can the mint-on-card fans hope to once again see their figures shipped in the prior, damage-reducing white box?

We had the choice of adjusting the shipper boxes or reducing the deco and accessories for the figures. We went with the package change which we hope was the better option to reduce costs. The cost to produce MOTUC is just skyrocketing (raw material and labor) and we are often backed into a corner of increasing prices or finding ways to cost reduce. The last thing we want to do is reduce from the figure, so while this was our best option to keep costs down. Not ideal, but it almost never is.

Out of curiosity... where did you hear THIS from?

Heck, I suggested this back in 2008!! I HATE hearing the company whine and complain about how much stuff costs... when I don't want that stuff to begin with

Honestly, I HATE the MOTUC pacakging... if it was red and blue with the explosions... I'd have a different opinion, but the green blocks?? boring.

I'm all for anything that saves money and gets us stuff... but yeah, I NEVER heard anything about it was 'supposed' to be like that... Heck, with the original plan of '3 two-packs... I don't see that as realistic at all.

No problem with that. I would like them MOC but I open them anyway with a surgical knife and reseal them with clear tape.

If such a reduction would make the line live on, I'd rather not even have bios!

I believe Scott mentioned this in one of his blogs. IIRC, management wanted them to be bagged.

Since the line started I collected MOC and loose. And I'm sure many people do, so I believe that sub sales might drop again considerately if only offered loose. If its do or die, of course I would say: "Gimme all the remaining figures loose"!!

No I don't think so. Now I open everything and throw the packages away, but there are a lot of MOC collectors and if they changed it now it would effectively kill the line for them. It would be like them changing the scale of the figures to 5 inches to cut costs. Also there are probably a fair amount of subscribers who get 2 subs, one to open and 1 to keep MOC, so this could result in fewer subs.

Not a change I would like to see, and honestly doubt would happen
Its is spelled "Crita", not "Critta". Misspell her name and Crita will knock the "T" out of you!

    Also...get her into the line!

I've been saving Bio cards... but if I can still get a bio card that is the same size as the previous, I am all for cheaper packaging.

If I buy something, it had better come in packaging. I'm not going to fork over $25 for a figure thrown in a bag. And let's face it: Packaging is NOT adding $5 to the cost of each figure. For the buck or two tops that the packaging adds, I want my package.

White mailers on the other hand can go. I don't care too much about those.

I wouldn't mind if the figures were bagged, since I don't have a MOC collection. Would be interesting to see what "official" looking bag packaging Mattel would come up with. Maybe a rectangular cardboard piece with two staples keeping it shut. Logo on the front and bio on the back. Sad that this has become a serious discussion when we're paying $25+ for these.

As an opener, I'm all for putting money into the figure and not into the packaging. However, I'd like them to still include the bios/backer cards.

Sounds like a GREAT idea and a GREAT way to save on shipping and cost of figures.

I'm not sure they'd do it though because of the MOC collector market - but personally, if it means getting more figures out there, I'm all for it!

No. With everything that has happened with these figures such as QC issues, slight damage to the boxes, I want my 25 dollar figure protected and secured in packaging whether I'm a MOC collector or not; this is the only way I'm letting my money go to Mattel. And asking us to surrender to anything else or less to Mattel at this point is NON DEBATABLE! You have our commitment, time to clean it up and MAKE US want to sub in 2014 and further! If they do this successfully, I think 2014 will bring it back strong! No More Excuses Mattel! This is Collector Line; time to make it so!

The #1 best thing about this line for MOC collectors is 100% package consistency.
There is something visually amazing to look at your collection in a completely unified look (with the exception of 2008 SDCC Grayskull).
No cutting the package, my whole collection, aside from 7 extra figures are MOSC, and set up on display like that, no packaging, no figures for me. Sorry, but the package is HALF the reason I collect them, not many other lines have consistent packaging across so many years, nor is there one line across almost 5 years, let alone consistent packaging between the different lines.

Transformers "Classics" have too many different packages, I would have preferred all the "Classics" to have the same package, but nope, they are not even packaged in Generations facing the same way, one is facing left, 5 are facing right, it's stupid and inconsistent, but the MOTUC cards and boxes are nice to be that way, all these years.

No it wouldn't save on shipping, DR ships a flat rate no matter how small it is, go to Matty right now, put a set of stands in your cart, go to check out, see the price of shipping, then trash your cart, add anything else, and the price is unchanged for shipping....Loose figures would be far worse rattling around in a bag, inside of a poorly packaged box, than we get now, plus you would save nothing, DR seems to get profit over what normal shipping would be for these things. I can ship a MOTUC, USPS Priority Mail to California, in 3 days, for $6.50, and it costs me $8.70 on Matty for snail mail world tour.
    Recent....Spirit of Hordak
    Coming....Octavia
Wanted....Filmation Hordak & Clawful, Seahawk, Castaspella, Batros & Icer
    Considering....Mosquitor, Leech
    Needed....Dragstor, Mantenna,Two Bad & Attack Trak

Picker, now subscriber....go figure....but still very much a picker....
