    Newspaper Comic Strips

    Hello all !

I've been collecting those newspaper comic strips that Mattel produced in late 80's.
The strips were created by Filmation artists, specially Gerald Forton, Cris Weber and colored by Connie Schurr.

Here in Brazil, we had almost 5 years of daily publications.
From Monday to Saturday, we had only black & white strips...on the other hand, an awesome full colored page on Sundays...
Right now, I have 34 Sunday's colored ones, incluiding the brazilian prologue (first issue) and all first and second sundays sagas !

It's amazing how cool is it !
Since the staffs belonged from Filmation, most backgrounds designs seens like original cartoon (like Castle Grayskull, Snake Mountain and Eternos Palace).
On the other hand, it's terrific to imagine how some characters would be if they were produced by Filmation in a third season (like Mosquitor, Ninjor, Blast-Attak, Scare Glow, Snake Face, Sssqueeze, Gwildor, Clamp Champ, Extendar and others).

Please take a look at this:

    Very cool!

Chris Weber and Karen Wilson, who both worked on the newspaper strips, will be at Power-Con this year.

Thanks for reply, my friends !

Indeed MOTU comic strips were publicated here from 1986 to 1991 !
I have to say, about 15-20 different stories were publicated.
Only the first saga was written by James Shull (they signed Forton/Shull FILMATION). After that, he was replaced by Chris Weber.
I know the last stories were based in 'New Adventures' characters (90-91).

I would like to ask Chris Weber himself about those strips...
I have only colored sundays strips. The weekely black & white ones, I only see in library.

I shouldn't upload them... I MUST do this to Org and 'Power & Honor Foundation' !
But I've been trying to get all b&w strips and add to my colored pages and then, post here.
Unfortunately, it's very very expensive to copy from original pages in public library...
I really do not know legal issues and I have fear Mattel sue me for that !

Does anyone here knows if Chris Weber has all those strips ?
    What's his contact (e-mail) ?
Is Mattel plans to released these stories ?

Interesting....in this picture, we can see Sarcedon, a very close Serpos concept !

Really? Could you post pics of those? Do they involve the destruction of castle Grayskull?

I know your devotion to these comic strips....you always inspired me with your previous posts !

Unfortunately, I do not have any strips of later publications (1990-1991), when 'New Adventures' stories came from. On the other hand, I can confirm that because I saw NA strips in the library.

I tried to contact Chris Weber by Facebook but it didn't work...

Yes, I am looking for a way to post every comic strip I have !
The strips publications started in August 1986 and I have all sunday's comics (but one in September) untill February 1987 !

You're absolutely sure that those are also newspaper strips? If they are, then it's something even more rare than MOTU newspaper strips. I never even heard that NA ones were produced at all. And if they were done by same people, they could be based of Filmations plans for He-Man and the masters of space.

Though... maybe you saw reprint of German NA He-Man comics? Did it look like this:

    Or like this:

I am absolte sure because I remember the last brazilian story (February 1991) had 'New Adventures' characters...unfortunately, the story I saw ended early; it seens the newspaper canceled the contract with Mattel.
But I know there was at least one NA story ! I can confirm that !

    All newspaper I have are from 1986, 1987, 1988.
    I don't have any 1989, 1990 and 1991 ones...

As I promissed, I will post two pictures from colored newspaper comic strips I purchased recently...

First, the very first look in 'He-Man' strips - the prologue for the first saga 'The Day of the Comet'.

After, a battle between He-Man/Sorceress and King Hisss !

    Enjoy !

Wow, Monteeg! That's fantastic. Thanks for sharing. It looks like almost the entire run is in there, as translated into Portuguese, including a good portion of the NA story! Here's a screenshot featuring Master Sebrian! I had no idea he was in there. Way cool!

Well, I am very happy because I finally have a chance to see ALL (or almost all) "lost" MOTU comic strips...

I will try to get these b&w weekly strips (monday to saturday) and add to my colored sundays pages....It will be fun to create individual books !

If Mattel never release those stories, al least we could save this amazing and rare part of MOTU history...

    WE HAVE THE POWER !
